The purpose of Upcoming Events is to connect our users with local events, and visa versa. By allowing card shops and tournament organizers to post their upcoming events here, they gain free advertising to thousands of potential customers, and our users can find local shops, tournaments, and other events they might not have otherwise known about. It's a win win scenario, where everyone comes out ahead.
What is/isn't Allowed
We allow tournament organizers to announce and promote any forthcoming game event. Unsanctioned events are allowed, with the exception that you must fist be verified via a sanctioned event. Tournament Organizers are allowed a single thread for each event, and may post such threads without requiring individual permission later. Once you've been verified and added as a TO, you may freely post your upcoming events. Once an event is posted, you may reply to the event's thread to clarify, update, or expand on the event or to answer questions for other users. Unnecessary posts or "bump" posts are not allowed.
Recurring Events - such as Friday Night Magic or "EDH Tuesday" - should be kept in the recurring events subforum. This will help distinguish special events, such as Prereleases, from normal every week events. It will also help keep the forum uncluttered, so that you can better reach your local players, and they can better find you.
We do not allow the advertisement of product. You may advertise the prizes, entry costs, etc, associated with a game event, but you may not advertise any sales, upcoming releases, or similar product-oriented events. In example, you can freely advertise an upcoming Prerelease, but you may not advertise an upcoming "Booster Sale" - even if it is attached to an event. If you have questions or are unsure if something would be allowed, please PM me and I will give you a firm answer.
How to Becomes a Verified TO and Post Here
In order to ensure all posted events come from a verified Tournament Organizer, your organization/store will be verified on wizards.com.
If you are already registered on wizards.com and part of the Wizards Play Network, all you need to do is PM me requesting access and listing your store's information. I'll verify your stores information on wizards.com and you'll be added as a TO and gain access to post threads.
If you are not on Wizards Play Network, you will first need to register your store there. After fully registering, then PM me requesting access, and I'll add you as above.
How To Post an Upcoming Event
In order to be concise and better connect the users and shops, we have standards for each event thread posted.
Events not following these standards will be edited to fit, or deleted.
First and foremost, your thread title must contain your location
This should be the first part of your thread and in brackets.
Example: [Lincoln, NE]
Your thread title must contain the event date
It is not necessary to be in brackets, but it must be present.
Example: [Lincoln, NE] 3/21
The thread title must contain your store/organization name and the event.
Example: [Lincoln, NE] 3/21 CoolGamesStore: Dragons of Tarkir Prerelease
Inside the thread, you should list the address of the event.
Street address, so people can find the location.
Telephone numbers, emails, and websites are allowed as well.
Inside the thread, you should give a brief description of the event.
Prices and prize descriptions are recommended.
Graphic fliers are allowed - please attach them to your post.
