I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
I'd be in depending on the location. Advertise within the NYC area stores, I can think of a few legacy players who'd be interested.
Well I want to get something going on at Game Masters Games in Hicksville. The owner has been thinking about doing it for a little bit as well. These players you know, do they have LEGIT decks (Bug, maverick, Jund, etc.)?
looking to play magic in the Albany, NY area? come on down to New York Sports @ Yankee Dugout. We do events almost every night of the week including our Sunday night standard. Check us out for a fun place to play.
I'm only around LI in any functional capacity for the early summer/sometimes winter. Hearing these names of towns makes me smile. For a while Tri-County down Hempstead Tpke had a legacy scene. I haven't been there in a while. I knew all the vendors. The main one was an acquaintance of mine.
I've been taken to The Game Table in Mineola, which was nice for the Commander release but nobody really had legacy there. I've heard there is something in Farmingdale (not 'ville that's suffolk)...need to know if they play Legacy.
I'm interested if there's enough players down on LI. I have been part of the CNY and Southern Tier scene for several years now.
@Hicksville - what would the prize support and tourney structure be, should this happen. I would like to do sanctioned if possible. I'm not a fan of players proxying for legacy. This isn't vintage lol.

Wait you can proxy in vintage? LOL wtf!? Also you knew one of the main vendors at Tri? Was it Mike, man with long black and white hair, vampire teeth? If so I have known that guy for a while. I love him! Well its comic book depot has a legacy scene then I guess I need to throw down 300 bucks to get a playset of wastelands and bloodstained mire/ sinkhole. Depends on what deck I want to make.

Waaay back in the day Tri used to have a strong vintage scene. I remember playing 10 proxy vintage there (unsanctioned obviously). This was like prior to UG madness being in standard. Yea lol.
I know Mike! Yup love him too. Haven't seen him in at least a year or two. His scene was casual and standard. I'm spoiled in my current meta, playing with absolute top players.
Bottomline, I'd love a LI tournament. Preferably sanctioned. Is Comic Depot interested? I won't be back on LI til about may or so

Comic Depot does sanctioned legacy. If you like you can look them up on facebook or give them a call. I play their while im home from college they have a really nice crowd and lots of players. They alternate sunday legacy with vintage if your interested in that also. A lot of the players regularly play scg's so their legacy decks are quite good also.

Since I'm a noob and all, what does sanctioned legacy mean?
basically no proxies and is an official WOTC event.

I haven't been to Game Master Games in a while, when they used to be in Mineola turn out for legacy I saw wasn't too hot. I'm hoping for more Modern stuff to start popping up cause i'm definitely interested in that.

I live out in Commack, looking for a place to play Legacy and there doesn't seem to be anything close. I used to play out in LA, Cali, but now that I'm here in NY I wanna to get more competitive (doesn't help that wanting to be competitive and then finding nowhere to compete is a bit of a letdown)
I also live in Nassau. I know where tourneys of many different formats are being held in Nassau. I'm looking for people to play test my tourney decks against. Me and my friends are also looking for a few more people to join our little circle of players. Which at the moment is only 3 people. We play EDH, Vintage, Standard, Legacy & Modern. We play every weekend.
Just moved to the area. I don't have a legacy deck but if anyone has an extra I'd be willing to play test. Do any of you have any advice/info on any of the local game stores? I'm looking for somewhere to draft/play standard that has big crowds and good prize support. Thanks
If anyone is still checking this thread out, i live in Nassau and am thinking of getting out of standard. Thing is the only format i've seen played is EDH. I mostly play at Comic Book Depot in Wantagh. Anyone have a playgroup of know of any Legacy events that go down? Even modern. Just can't find anything besides Standard or EDH.
I'm pretty sure eternal constructed Magic is just plain dead in Nassau County, as far as i've seen
Game Master Games - Standard, Draft(12$)
Empire Gaming - Standard, weekly sunday Modern(10 proxies allowed), but from what I heard the turnout for modern isn't that great.
Comic book Depot - Standard, Draft
Based upon facebook events this is all that i've seen.
I'm torn between buying an actual legacy deck, or just plain out spending the money on MTGO. The lack of constructed play outside of Standard is so disheartening.
So, not to necro this thread but I am very curious to see if anyone has found a home to play Legacy in? I haven't had the chance to play in years and after moving things have finally calmed down (especially at work) so I was really hoping if I asked the community again, now, I would get a "hit" and be able to get back into it.
That said, I might get desperate enough to just try and organize something here, with you all, if you're interested, and then try to find a play to host us, and maybe taking charge of things until we can revitalize the scene for it.
Any thoughts or comments would be welcome. I want to try to get the ball rolling on this for the near future since I've put roots down in LI.

20 sided store in Brooklyn might be a little bit of a hike but they have a great legacy scene on monday and are starting to do an eternal league which rotates modern/legacy/vintage (all sactioned/no proxy) on Saturdays. Both nights have solid prize payouts and the regulars there are the best I've met at any shop. Its a competitive shop, great place to hone your skills if you are ever thinking about going to a GP or something.
So, it's been a while since I posted this thread, but someone earlier mentioned that Comic Book Depot has legacy tournaments every other Sunday and that they have legit deck there. I lack wasteland, so would I ultimately be wasting my time?

This summer I'd be down to throw events personally or in conjunction with the few shops I know of. There's like no Nassau scene I know of

Damn, I want to find a scene and play, but I need to invest in a playset of wasteland and a playset of fetch lands.
