I know Strange said no seconds needed, but I second Plaguefather if only for the Power Ranger
Also, PanchoPonceN, thought I should mention that even though Might Guy is a strong version of Rock Lee, unlike him he can use ninjitsu too, although he isn't shown using it frequently. I second your group too because I'm a big Naruto and One Piece fan.
Edit: Luffy should be interesting too. Since it is at a big combat oriented part of the manga now, I foresee him getting stronger the longer he stays in this tournament.
Magneto doesn't need prep time he just alters the earths magnetic field so it falls out of orbit, or pulls a meteor storm down .
But! How long would it take for all life on Earth to die if it did get knocked out of orbit? Would it take more or less time than the average super hero brawl?
Character: Terra is a half-human/half-esper who was raised by the Gestahlian Empire to basically be a living weapon. Forced into service by an item called the Slave Crown, she annhilated any who opposed the empire. Eventually she was freed from the empire's control. At first Terra is confused, easily frightened and has no knowledge of anything beyond her name. She is suspicious of anyone who wants access to her powers and not fully knowing what those powers are adds to her wariness. As she learns more about herself, she becomes assertive and determined and in the end, she resolves to fight and use her special abilities to make the world a better place.
Abilities: Being half Esper Terra has extremely powerful magic abilities. Additionaly, having been trained by the Gestahlian Empire she is no slouch in physical combat either. She's able to use a wide variety of swords, shields, and all heavy armor. She also has the ability to transform from her human form into an Esper form which makes her considerably stronger in battle, though this ability cannot be maintained indefinitely.
She naturally learns a wide variety of spells. These spells range from usefull spells like Cure, Poisona, and Teleport, to such powerful and devastating spells as Holy, Graviga, Meltdown, and even the awesome Ultima spell. By equipping different Magicite shards she has can eventually learn any spell in the game, but even without the magicite she is one of the few in the world who has magic come to her naturally.
Character: Erza Scarlet is a young woman who has long, scarlet hair and brown eyes. As an S-Class Mage of the Fairy Tail guild, she's famous for her usage of Requip Magic. Erza is a very strict person, often criticizing the bad behavior and habits of the other guild members, causing most of them to apologize, fearing that they might invoke her wrath. She is also very impatient. However, she has a great sense of justice and pride in being a member of Fairy Tail. She's very intelligent and a natural leader.
Abilities: Erza is not what you typically think of when you think of a wizard. Her specialty is Requip magic that lets her store hundreds of different weapons and armors in another dimension and instantly swap them out in the middle of combat. She is incredibly dangerous in melee combat, possessing master swordsmanship skills, expert hand-to-hand combat skills, enhanced strength, immense endurance, immense durability, incredible reflexes, and an extremely deep reserve of magic power. Her hundreds of armors allow her to adapt extremely well to all manner of combat situations, enabling her to fly, turtle up and withstand a direct blast from a Jupiter Cannon, resist a variety of elements, summon a hundred or more swords and control them with telekinesis, dramatically augment her already impressive physical strength, and more. She is truly a force to be reckoned with in melee combat.
Character: Lina is known as one of the most powerful and feared sorceresses in all the land. Despite her bad habits of eating too much (justified by her serious magic usage) and taking money from bad guys, she has good intentions. Most of her bad nicknames such as Dragon Spooker, Bandit Killer Killer, and The Enemy of All Who Live come from the fact that she often causes plenty of collateral damage when fighting the forces of evil.
Abilities: Lina self-dubs herself as a "Magical Genius" but she isn't at all exaggerating. She specializes in black magic, yet she is also skilled in shamanism, slightly versed in white magic, and can also hold her own with the short sword. Her spells include a wide range of things from fireballs, freeze arrows, and huge blasts of wind, to spells that call on the powers of the Dark Lords of the world. Lina has an extremely high magic capacity, and she is able to draw upon indescribably powerful spells such as the Ragna Blade and Giga Slave. When she acquired the Demon's Blood Talismans from Xelloss, she was able to increase her magical capacity even more, giving her the ability to cast more powerful spells more often. Her strongest spells include:
The Dragon Slave, which essentially has the explosive power of a nuclear bomb, capable of reducing an entire town to a smoldering crater. The downside of this spell is that it takes a several seconds to recite the incantation and cast the spell.
The Ragna Blade, which creates a blade of dark energy drawn from the Lord of Nightmares, capable of cutting through literally anything... even into other dimensions. This spell has two major downsides though: It's a blade, so if she can't physically reach her target, or they're too agile to hit the spell is worthless; the other serious downside is that the spell requires so much magical energy that Lina is completely drained of magic after using it and can maintain the blade for only a minute, maybe two minutes tops. Once the blade is gone, Lina is pretty much useless the rest of the fight.
The Giga Slave, unleashes mind-boggling amounts of annihilating magic energy from the Lord of Nightmares, capable of destroying literally any foe regardless of size or power level. This spell's downside is so severe, though, that it is an absolute last resort and likely would not even be used then: Not only is Lina severely weakened and out of commission for days after casting it, but if the spell is miscast the dark energy rages out of control and is capable of destroying the world itself. Due to this, I think its safe to say that it's extremely out-of-character for Lina to use this in a tournament and that Lina will not be using this spell in the tournament for any reason. Also, it's pretty OP and would likely result in her being disqualified.
Doom, Iron Man, Magneto, Brainiac, Luthor...all these characters can destroy a planet, but WITH prep time. Without it, they are seriously downpowered so I would let them pass.
What we need to worry about are characters that can destroy a planet WITHOUT prep time.
I am strongly against all anime characters from ongoing series because their full power is unknown and leaves a lot of room for speculation and fanfiction.
I disagree, I think instead we should just all agree that what anime/ manga characters have thus far shown should be regarded as full power. If we ban them, then we could say the same for American comic characters since their stories are still ongoing and we can say their " full power" hasn't been shown.
Does anyone else not want to see a team from Poring's TOC with one more member added? I'd rather see new teams. Like have a rule saying "no more than one character per team who was in TOC". Or maybe those teams just wont get picked for this one. How is it getting down to 16 teams if there are 30 teams in this thread?

Actually, I don't want to see any participants in the TOC make it to this one since they are already busy in that tournament. This is why my nomination for a Wizard Trio specifically stated that I didn't add Albus and Gandalf, even if they fit the theme (and as much as I wanted to have them on the team), so I picked three other favorites, and I encourage others to do the same. Besides, we can't just take them out of their busy schedules whenever we feel like it. Some of them have worlds to destroy/save.
Then again, that would deny a lot of popular characters the ability to participate in another great tournament, which would also be suboptimal. The participants should be the people's choice, regardless of whatever they are doing in other tournaments on the forum.
I think it's a matter of choice. Maybe one or two odd teams can have this, but certainly not all 16 teams, as it's clear that Doctor Strange's tournament is an entirely new animal, and completely different from the TOC/TOU.
I participate yearly in a survival challenge in which I am dropped off in the wilderness with 1 days rations, a knife, and no other supplies, and have to find my way home. This is typically several weeks hiking from civilization.
I have personally killed several bears in the course of this challenge, with the use of snares and other traps.

Question: With the same character nominated in both Von's and my trios (Vergil), even though they use different source material, will we both be allowed to suggest our teams? Will Von's be selected instead of mine due to him posting 50 minutes before I did? Will mine be selected instead of his because I followed instructions and linked sources the first time?
Both teams will be undergoing a power level review after I consult with the Vishanti. If both teams are deemed to pass, then I have considered a few options for allowing one team or the other to pass, whether through public opinion in a separate poll or through initiating a Qualifier "Versus" Battle between the two teams, sans Virgil, to see which one earns the right to have Virgil join their cause!
Hmmmm the lack of prep time ruins my go to team..... Unless, does this fight take place on earth ? Like if I were to nominate a giant meat bag tank that could hold off other team while others prepared a plan does that count ?
Ah yes, this would be a valid strategy indeed and not subject to the limitations of the tournament! So if one person were to be able to nominate say, The Thing, and use him as a meat shield while Reed Richards and Spider-Man contemplate together a counter strategy/device to help give them the edge, than that is perfectly acceptable due to the fact that technically, the fight is still ongoing. They were simply able to buy themselves some time.
Also technically a lot of people can destroy the planet that have been mentioned so far, aang certainly could but never would. Doom and Iron man probably could to, magneto certainly can.
So really I am unsure what power level limitations are , I would rather use brains over brawn but most intelligent people can destroy planet.
I believe one of the keyword limitations states that being able to destroy a planet, galaxy, universe by themselves constitutes as grounds for Disqualification. So if the power level review comes up that this is a possible feat with said nominations, they will be disqualified.

Fear not, good citizen! For this tournament will NOT begin until after Poring's most distinguished tournament has concluded in it's entirety! Leaving plenty of time for additional power level reviews, nominations, rules changes or disputes among any other details that must be hammered out before the official proceedings!
Also, if there comes such a time where there are more than 16 teams nominated that all pass Power Level reviews, it is at that time that we will institute the same of two systems from above to solve the Virgil situation. Either I will leave it up to the people to simply discuss the best choice, or we will initiate a Preliminary Qualifier between different teams to see who earns their place in the King of Trios!
for added flavor I would like to suggest this team as a "ref" team (not competing but making sure everyone else is following the rules of the game)

a Note on Lucius, he can be killed, but whoever killed him, becomes him... Does that disqualify him? lol Technically, he's still dying, lol.
You should probably note that they have to feel some sort of emotion from the kill for Lucian to take over and it takes many months for the transformation to finish.
I nominate myself, Baron Mordo, the Dread Dormammu and Shuma-Gorath.
Though I find it detestable, I shall obey the commandments of your game and provide these 'Encyclopedia of Wiki' entries you seem to so desire.
I know Baron Mordo haunts your dreams, Strange, as I should, but for those commoners who know not our history, behold Mordo, before those vile mutants in X-Factor supposedly killed me: http://marvel.com/universe/Baron_Mordo
The Dread Dormammu, my former master has millenia of deeds in his past, acts so vile that your puny minds couldn't comprehend them. But for the sake of this tourney, allow your mortal minds to grow mad with the knowledge of the Dread One: http://marvel.com/universe/Dormammu
If you are a true Sorcerer, Strange, you would fight my unholy covenant as we are. But since we both know that I am already the stronger, you may instead use the pitiful avatars of the Dread One and the Old One from the third lineage of the pedestrian game of combat, so-titled "Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3":
You will rue the day you interrupted my scheme with the Ancient One, Strange.

No mortal power present here can defeat our might, and once we win this contest of mediocrity we will use this card game website as the foothold for our invasion of this petty Earth duplicate. I don't think this team meets any necessary qualification for consideration, but I couldn't help but post it still for the imagery it creates. You have an inept, scared wizard drawing the ire of the opposing trio while Longshot accidentally side-steps a blast of power intended for him and the now errant power becomes a tragic incident of friendly fire for the opposing trio. Then you have a cyborg that deus ex machina's his team to victory while the opposing team can't figure out why Longshot and Rincewind just won't die (or stand and fight).

After my initial run through of the Power Level Reviews, the Vishanti have revealed to me that perhaps my rules are a bit too...stringent? For almost no teams were able to make it through without someone being disqualified!
I humbly turn to the peoples of this Versus Debate forum for a solution, as the wisdom of the Vishanti escapes me at this time.
Especially with the arrival of the dastardly Baron Mordo, it appears as if I will not have the aid of the Vishanti during this contest. I must face him with all of your nominations in order to stand a chance, lest we surrender the sanctity of the Salvation Forums to the evil palms of Dormammu!

Well, simply tell us which characters were deemed too powerful and let the nominators replace those characters. Easy, short and simple.
This is a very good suggestion! Explaining why they were deemed as such will also allow us to pinpoint which powers, skills and abilities we should be wary of when nominating or changing the roster of the proposed teams.

Indeed. We can't allow Baron Mordo to win this fight. However Mordo does have a good point - he offered up substantially weaker versions of his characters in the form of the fighting game versions. That might help going forward, to pinpoint specific versions of a character that aren't too powerful, like Movie Hulk and DCAU Doomsday in TOC.
Also, PanchoPonceN, thought I should mention that even though Might Guy is a strong version of Rock Lee, unlike him he can use ninjitsu too, although he isn't shown using it frequently. I second your group too because I'm a big Naruto and One Piece fan.

Ya know, My Avatar?
"Look upon me and know that I can slay you at will. You have no defence save one: to look into the darkness at the back of your own mind. There, you will find Father Nurgle waiting to offer you life in return for your submission. Deny him, and you are mine." — Typhus the Traveller, Herald of Nurgle

Bah! I half expected you to turn tail and deny me entry to this woeful menagerie. I accept your challenge, Strange. You may claim to have defeated me in the past, but those petty skirmishes will prove as nothing in the face of the combined power I bring with me.
No mortal power present here can defeat our might, and once we win this contest of mediocrity we will use this card game website as the foothold for our invasion of this petty Earth duplicate. And there is nothing you will be able to do to stop it, trapped as you are in the confines of this... contraption these beings call the interwebs.
Your end is nigh, Strange.
Also, you're welcome for the nomination. OF YOUR OWN DOOM!
Rincewind (Discworld): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rincewind
Longshot (Marvel Universe): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longshot
Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 (Halo): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_117
Team Murder Machines:
T-1000 (Terminator 2)
Megaman (Mega Man 1-10)
General Grievous (Revenge of the Sith)
This guy has to be stopped!

This is a very good suggestion! Explaining why they were deemed as such will also allow us to pinpoint which powers, skills and abilities we should be wary of when nominating or changing the roster of the proposed teams.
How well do you do against one?
