I think four a week may be pushing it, as certain matches may not get the discussion/attention they deserve because one or all of the other matches that same week may "steal the spotlight" so-to-speak.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't care for surprises, this is about rasional thought and arguments, Post all the pairings in the main post so we have our brackets for round one if they are all selected. This will also give us some forethought about each match before it arrives to "VS " it out.
I agree with this. 4 matchups means potentially 16 different universes to discuss and for some people research.
Alright, then! Two per week is the maximum, and I won't push it. Thank you for the feedback.
Really? Here I was thinking the suspense as to "which one comes next" added some enjoyment and excitement to the buildup of the matches, kind of like how you wait for your favorite TV show every week to resolve before moving on to the "next episode".
Does anyone else agree with draftguy2, and I should spoil the entire list of matches for round one? The only problem with that is I feel it wouldn't give every match the reasonable forethought it deserved (matches 15 and 16 would be known well in advance, for example, meaning that people would have more time to prepare for that match than they would have had for the first matches; matches 1 and 2, the ones currently released, were more of a race in comparison). Hey, it's up to you guys, whatever is fun for you. I personally think keeping a secret list adds to the fun, but that's just me.
Of course, I could also compromise and post up the pairings, but place a "spoiler" tag on them so that people can choose if they want to see the list or not. Just a suggestion.
Lastly, I'd like to note that there is still one wildcard team in the tournament (marked with ??? in my match list) because no one wanted to second the nomination for any of the following teams (I would have chosen that match randomly, however, if the time came for it to be done):
Team "Spirit Detective" - Yusuke (Yu Yu Hakusho) Ichigo (Bleach)
Team "Power Fist" - Sanosuke (Rurouni Kenshin) and Kenshiro (Fist of the North Star)
Team "Shogun Assassin" - Auron (FFX) and Zatoichi
Team "Suplex Machine" - Mike Haggar (Final Fight) and King (Tekken)
Team "Science & Magic" - Dr. Strange (Marvel) and Edward Elric (Full Metal Alchemist)
Team "SCIENCE!" - Doctor Mordin Solus (Mass Effect) and Agatha Heterodyne (Girl Genius)
Team "Machine" - Liger Zero (Zoids) and Wing Zero (Gundam)
Team "Virus" - Albert Wesker (Resident Evil) and Bane (DC Comics)
Team "Facetime" - Jace Beleren (Magic) and Yugi Muto (Yu-Gi-Oh)
Team "Powersuit" - The Megazord (Power Rangers) and Voltron (Voltron)
Team "Heartfelt Determination" - Lockon Stratos (Gn-010 Gundam Zabanaya) and Mareda Cruz (NZ-666 Kyshatriya)
The 31st team is Team "Micro Mech" - Human Form Replicator Samantha Carter and Borg Infested Captain Picard.
If posters agree that they want to see the list distributed publicly, then I will use my random number generator to pick one, unless someone seconds the nomination for any of the teams in the above "spoiler" tag. If not, the 32nd team can wait a bit longer.
Comments greatly appreciated, as always.
How well do you do against one?
Waiting for the matches to be revealed doesn't prevent rational thought and the ability to conduct a proper debate. Considering we have an entire week to discuss each match.
But yes, keep it to just two matches a week. That way it's not too slow and it's not too overbearing.
I will second it. I actually thought it already was. The only other team I know anything about in that list is team Virus anyway.
Done! That makes the 32nd team in the tournament, making the list complete! Thank you so much for the additional seconding.
How well do you do against one?
Quick question.... how would the Megazord fit in a place like the Panopticon?
Hmmm... that is a good question. Well, since there's no Megazord in the tournament, this is kind of moot, but I suppose that in those occasions we could have a special ruling that the battlefield would increase in size proportionate to the giant mech.
As far as I know, the Panopticon is one of the minority indoor terrains (the other being the Academy at Tolaria West, which isn't nominated), none of the members of the 32 teams are too large to fit (Bolas is probably the biggest one left), and chances are we won't see the same terrain drawn twice anyway.
Which reminds me: we have 22 terrains nominated, but a total of around 32 matches, so any further suggestions would be great. Otherwise, I'm going to pick those randomly, too.
Oh, and one last thing on terrain: The 9th Sphere of Phyrexia was nominated. Now, the thing is, there is one Planechase card known as The 4th Sphere, which is easier to grasp due to there being art, but doing my homework on the 9th Sphere... no one knows how it looks like, because how it looks like depended on Yawgmoth's imagination (and he's dead now). So I imagine that terrain would be a void, akin to floating in space with no objects to manipulate. Any comments on this?
Now there's another hilarious match up.
How well do you do against one?
That would certainly be a very fun debate indeed, but in the event that this match up doesn't happen (due to an unlucky draw or other reasons), we can always start a separate thread entitled "Lightsaber versus Adamantium/Vibranium", specifically for that purpose.
For the record, I don't believe a Lightsaber could cut through Captain America's shield (my personal opinion, certainly not a ruling for this Tournament). There is evidence in the Star Wars universe that a sufficiently thick metal (like the blast doors in Episode I) would hinder a lightsaber from being able to cut clean through it without effort by a determined Jedi. There is also at least one instance of another non-lightsaber object being able to block a lightsaber swing (as seen in Episode III when the bodyguards of Grievous attack Anakin and Obi-Wan using those double ended energy weapons). I'd wager that Captain America's shield would be able to block/deflect a lightsaber attack, but that's just me.
How well do you do against one?
I agree. Mandalorian armor was able to turn away lightsabers as well, and Cap's shield is tougher than both adamantium and vibranium - it usually takes a god-level being (like Loki, or Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet) to break it. In fact, IIRC, it's stood up to blasts from Heralds of Galactus. I don't think a lightsaber has more juice than a burst of the Power Cosmic.
A better question (maybe) would be Wolverine's claws versus Captain America's shield, though one can always make the case that CA's shield is simply tougher, due to being an Adamantium-Vibranium alloy, meaning the real debate would be if Wolverine's claws blunt out or not while CA's shield goes unaffected.
Ah, the problem with unstoppable forces and immovable objects (or in this case, "can cut through anything" versus "can block anything").
How well do you do against one?

The 32 Write Ups:
Kamahl, Fist of Krosa is a former Red Barbarian of Otaria in the Magic the Gathering Multiverse. As a Barbarian, he was arguably the strongest fighter on the entire plane, and was capable of defeating many enemies by himself.
However, after losing his sister and realizing the destruction that he had caused for his greed of the Mirari sword, he devoted his life to becoming a protector of the Krosan Forest. He is also arguably even stronger with his renewed blessings of nature, having command over trees, plants and animal life, with losing none of his combat prowess. At the pinnacle of his performance, he was able to defeat the Godlike creature Karona and restore peace to the entire plane of Otaria.
Himura Kenshin is the well known protagonist of the Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai X series. Once arguably the most powerful assassin battousi in all of Japan, he was known to slaughter hundreds if not thousands of people in the name of the Meiji restoration.
After the war was finally over, Kenshin became a wandering ronin, unwilling to kill anymore and seeking atonement for the wrongs he had caused through his killing. Even after adopting the way of the peaceful warrior, Kenshin has shown time and again that he has lost none of his strength from his time as the Battousi. He voluntarily uses a reverse blade sword specifically not to kill any of his opponents, but is still able to subdue and defeat even the strongest swordsman of his time. The pinnacle of his strength is shown through his ability to defeat Shisio, a man so dangerous that it was thought that he was unbeatable. Shisio was so powerful even, that after his death he declared that he would begin a campaign to conquer hell. That gives you a good idea of how strong he was, and how much stronger Kenshin was with his ability to defeat him.
Together, these two fighters share a similar philosophy of preferring a life of peace and nature rather than killing and violence. But when drawn to protect the things they love most, they will do anything and everything needed to neutralize evil.
Team "Cybernetic Cannon" - Mega Man X and Samus Aran
Mega Man X is the titular hero of both the original 8 Mega Man Games, the 7 Mega Man X games and a host of other third party titles. He is characterized as being a robot created by Dr. Light equipped with an adjustable arm cannon that absorbs and uses the powers of other robots he has defeated. For the purposes of this contest, we will assume that X only has access to Arm Cannon abilities and robot accessories he had access to in the original Mega Man X game for the SNES. Judging by the fact that this still nets him the Hadouken super blast, I don't think this will be a problem.
Samus Aran is the iconic female protagonist of the Metroid series of games. Although she is not a robot herself, she also becomes outfitted with different colored robot armors that are supplemented with abilities and upgrades that she can pick up throughout the worlds she rescues. For the purposes of this battle, we'll assume she has the complete suite of weapons and armors based around the Super Metroid 3 video game for the SNES.
Both are protected by cybernetic robot armor enhancements. Both are capable of using charge beams and arm cannons of differing abilities. Both are heroes dedicated towards saving planets from aliens/mavericks. It's a match made in robot heaven.
Team "Justice For All" - Gideon Jura and Captain America
Gideon Jura is a Magic The Gathering Planeswalker who also happens to be a gifted Hieromancer, the magic of Order. He is a stalwart man of honor and justice, always looking to bring order to the world through his strength and holy magic. Only after allying himself with a fiery personality in Chandra did he realize that the order he worked for might not be all it's cracked up to be, and has decided now to fight in the name of what order and morality truly stand for, and to protect those in need.
Captain America is a member of the WW2 Super Soldier project, that allowed him to become a peak physical specimen in all things that a human could do. A master tactician, he fought for truth, justice and the American Way. Only after allying himself with a fiery personality in...well, the Avengers, did he realize that the Government he worked for might not be all it's cracked up to be, and has decided now to fight in the name of what the founding fathers truly stood for, and to protect those in need.
Both are believers in true justice, are kind souls that can't stand to see an innocent get persecuted while the guilty roam free. And both will always fight for what is right, even if it defies the wishes of their orders/government.
Team "Godslayer" - Dante and Kratos
Dante was a crusader who fought for his faith in a bloody war, but was stabbed in the back during a battle, prompting the Grim Reaper to appear, wanting to take his soul to everlasting damnation for his sins. In defiance, under the belief that he was cleansed of his misdeeds by participating in the crusade, Dante fought back, killing Death itself and stealing his famous Scythe. Upon doing so, he returns home, only to find his beloved Beatrice dead, her soul taken by the devil into the depths of Hell. He then takes her Holy Cross, and, goes on a one-man rampage through the nine circles of hell to get his beloved back, slashing through demons, monsters of mythology, and eventually going on to defeat Lucifer himself.
Kratos is a demigod whose family was killed in a fit of rage, a trick by the God of War to make him stronger. He then proceeded to exact his revenge against Ares, and went on a quest to kill him. Upon becoming the new god of war, he eventually realized that his vengeance would never be satiated, and soujourned throughout various events in Greek mythology, collecting weapons of incredible power, defeating monsters and heroes alike as he went on his own way to attain some sort of personal redemption for himself, in the process killing most of the Olympians singlehandedly and almost leaving the world in a state of calamity afterwards.
Both men are driven by a desire for revenge against the forces that were responsible for taking their loved ones away from them. Both have access to ungodly, supernatural powers and weapons capable of taking down the most dangerous creatures in their respective mythologies. Both of them will stop at nothing in their struggle for redemption for their past acts, and have defeated every threat that came in their way thus far.
Team "Badass" - Jaime Lannister and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen
Jaime Lannister, the finest natural swordsman in Westeros since Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning. Dressed head to toe in shining golden(gilded) armor, the man known as the Kingslayer is a fighter without equal. Sure, his moral compass may be a little off, but who DOESN'T want to sleep with their sister? COME ON!! The Lion of Lannister knows no fear on the battlefield, and is deeper and more conflicted than most would presume. But on the field, all of that goes away. Jaime Lannister is the Captain of Team Badass.
Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen hails from the planet Geidi Prime, and is the heir apparent to the evil Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. The product of years of genetic meddling from the powerful and secretive sisterhood of the Bene Gesserit, Feyd is at the pinnacle of human genetic engineering. Absolutely deadly with a knife, with the sadistic attitude to boot, Feyd is not a fighter to take lightly. Sure, he might have been played by Sting in the movie, but really....it's Sting. Who has a problem with Sting? Tantric sex and all. But I digress. Feyd will do anything to win a fight, including the use of poison flip darts and attempted assassination. Together with Jaime, we have a nigh morally bankrupt team of sister huggers and possibly homosexual sadistic murderers.
Team "Basketballers" - Shaq and Barkley
Aside from crushing mortals on the court, Barkley and Shaq also rescues innocents from certain death.
After Barkley destroyed Shadow Barkley and the B-Ball Removal department (with the help of the ghost of Lebron James) he meets up with the big daddy Shaq, who had just school the evil mummy Sett Ra both on and off the court. Together the 2 ballers form the ultimate tag team as they style on losers left right and center.
Barkley armed with the super destructive Chaos Dunk that can level a city, will supply the support fire while Shaq Fu the one on one expert tanks attacks from the enemies while styling on them with his Inferno Kick and broken fighting system, as well as dunking on fools whenever possible (oh snap).
Team "Viva la Revolution" - Amon and V
Both men with a vicious desire for vengeance, a dark and secret past, and a hatred for the corrupt and oppressive system that brings down the masses, these are the champions of rebellion, secrecy and are certainly cut of the same cloth. Amon is a supreme martial artist with the mysterious power to remove the abilities of other superpowered beings, and V is a skilled fighter with various weapons and a powerful arsenal. Together, these two will make the powerful crumble in the name of the weak and the downtrodden.
Team "By Your Powers Combined" - Captain Planet and Avatar Aang
Champion of Gaia, the spirit of the Earth, Captain Planet is the embodiment of the four classic Greek elements (Earth, Fire, Wind and Water) put into humanoid form through the power of Heart. He is a superhero who is bound to the physical realm of the planet, and can manipulate the elements to his will. In his universe, he combats villains who wish to use the planet for motives such as greed, power, or simply enjoying seeing the pain inflicted on society caused by environmental destruction. He gains power from the planet, but any forms of destruction to it weakens him severely. He is routinely assisted by the Planeteers, a group of young people united in diversity, armed each with a ring associated with each element which grants them their own powers, motivated by a common goal of saving the world, who can combine their powers to summon him, leaving Captain Planet to take on the battles that they would not be able to manage otherwise.
The Avatar is the spirit of the planet in human form, and is the only person in the world who can master the fighting traditions of all four of the classic Greek elements of his (or her, in this case, his) universe (Earth, Fire, Air and Water). He is as old as the deities who existed at the dawn of time, is born as an element "bender" under one of the four nations in a cycle, and eventually learns to master all the elements over the course of his life to act out his duty as the peacekeeper of the world. As if being the absolute master of the elements was not enough, the Avatar can be put into an "Avatar State" when in a life-threatening situation, causing him to have the power of all past Avatars simultaneously. This is the adult Avatar Aang in his prime, a child prodigy who became one of the greatest (if not the greatest) of the Avatars to have ever lived.
Both characters are paragons of their ideals, powered by the earth spirits of their respective universe, advocates of peace, harmony, spiritual and natural balance, and the greater good of the planet. Both characters are earth-shaking and incredibly powerful elemental controllers, assisted by a group of young people, tasked to take down threats capable of destroying the world. These two, if they ever met, would become great allies to each other in the never-ending quest for the protection of the world.
Team "Electromagnetic Pulse" - Magneto and Static
Erik Lehnsherr (though if this is his true name or not is disputed), also known as Magneto, grew up to become one of the world's most powerful mutants and undoubtedly the X-Men's most dangerous foe. The young Magneto has not yet become the villain bent on mutant superiority, and thus needs to still discover how to control his powers. He can move metallic objects to a fine degree, and this, combined with his training, knowledge of tactics and weapons, dark past and often extreme mentality, made him dangerous even as a young man. As he grew older, he became even more powerful, able to move even extremely heavy metal objects the size of a jet or an entire bridge quite easily, as well as shape metal to his will, using only his mind. He eventually developed control over the entire electromagnetic spectrum (approached from the "magnetic" end). Indeed, his status, power, and charisma has made him feared and revered by most, if not all, mutants in his universe. He is also a capable and knowledgeable leader, well versed in science and tactical strategies, and remains one of the most incredible villains in the Marvel Universe.
Virgil Hawkins, also known as Static, grew up to become one of the world’s greatest heroes, and a respected member of the Justice League Unlimited. He started off as a teenage superhero whose powers developed over time. His electric powers can energize, power and supercharge mechanical and metallic objects, he can send bolts of electric power at his opponents, and create static and magnetic cling on various metallic, and later on even non-metallic, objects, making him a versatile, if unrefined, superhero. As he grew older, he became even more powerful, his diverse powers having a great number of applications. He eventually developed control over the entire electromagnetic spectrum (approached from the "electric" end). His quick wit and knowledge of science has greatly assisted him on many occasions, and he is acknowledged by both Bruce Wayne and Terry McGinnis to have grown to become a veteran superhero on the power level of Green Lantern and Wonder Woman within the DC Universe, with powers capable of changing the world.
Both of them have amazing similarities and contrasts. Both of them have powers related to electromagnetism (Magneto is more “magnetism” and Static is more “electro”, but there is a lot of overlap). Both of them have dealt with, and grew up being, super-powered teenagers from their respective universes (in Magneto’s case, mutants, in Static’s case, metahumans), both of them have had encounters with the greatest superheroes and supervillains from their respective universes (and managed to even beat them on occasion), and both of them have grown up to develop power over one of the world’s fundamental forces, and are acknowledged in-universe as each being one of the most powerful beings on the planet (they started off at different ends of the spectrum, and there are various differences, but they got there).
Team "Smash" - Doomsday and Hulk
Nearly unstoppable forces of incredible power, Doomsday is famous for being the being that could kill Superman. The Hulk is, likewise, capable of extreme power and nearly limitless rage. Combined physical might will make them a challenge for any opponent as they can smash their way to victory.
Team "Wizard Guide" - Gandalf the White and Albus Dumbledore
The most powerful wizards of their respective universes, both paragons for the forces of good, somewhat eccentric, and incredibly capable in dealing with dark opponents, these fantastic champions will use their wisdom, experience, and skills to outclass their opponents. While Gandalf is the more capable fighter in hand to hand combat, Albus has an array of vast magic up his sleeve as well. Together, they would be a formidable force for any who isn't ready for their magical onslaught.
Everyone knows Dumbledore dies on page 596... But we also know from Tolkien that Wizards don't really die. In death Dumbledore returns to Valinor. The Valar have a new task for their Wizards. Earth is entering a new age, an age of heroes. Some of those heroes are misguided and the Valar are sending the Wizard counsel to help guide them to a new age of peace. Gandalf the White is entrusted to help train the newest member of the Maiar, Dumbledore the Grey, as they guide Earth's new heroes against the forces of evil.
Team "Final Fantasy Villains" - Kefka and Sephiroth
The archetypal Final Fantasy villains, these two bear such similarities and powers that it's an eternal debate as to who the better villain was. Using their knowledge over the magics of their universe, as well as their desire for ultimate power, their evil drive would take them far if they worked together.
Team "Mythology" - Wonder Woman and Thor
The prince and princess of their respective mythologies, these two great fighters possess both the power and the skill of their warrior-people. Wonder Woman is adorned with the armor of the gods, and Thor with the mighty hammer, Mjolnir, the smasher. Armed with these weapons of mythic proportions, both practically invulnerable, and with a desire to fight for what is right, they would become a team that could use their godly prowess and resolve to bring down their enemies.
Team "Rescue the Princess" - Mario and Link
The rightful heir to the Tri-force of Courage and bearer of the Master Sword a powerful weapon in the battle against evil. Link is not only brave but the embodiment of the virtue of courage and heroism. He single-handedly takes on epic quests, helping those in need no matter how small the task, and showing his kind-hearted soul to everyone he meets. He is the truest and purest of heroes with mastership of swordsmanship as well as archery and equestrian skills to name a few. Overcoming all obstacles in his bid to rescue his true love the Princess Zelda, he has travelled not only the length and breadth of Hyrule but even through time in his journey to banish the evil Ganondorf.
The most unlikely hero at first glance, a short fat italian plumber , however his determination to rescue the Princess Peach from her serial kidnapper Bowser is almost legendary. While not having any skills of his own unless you happen to need your drain unblocked , he has access to fantastic abilities ranging from increased size, flight and fireballs to invincibility thanks to the mysterious powerups of the mushroom kingdom.
Team "Crazy Supernatural Killers" - Dante (Devil May Cry) and Bayonetta
Dante is a half devil, half angel who kills demons, while Bayonetta is a half witch, half angel who kills angels. They both meet up and immediately end up in bed. After Dante gets violated in every way conceivable and ending up a sobbing mess, they team up. Both carry twin pistols, both has a laundry list of weird weapons, both have problems with their dad (both also have smashed their dads), both created by the same person, things get absolutely CRAAZY!!! when either of them is around. Infact its a travesty that this crossover hasn't happened yet in canon.
Team "Human Mental Prowess" - Dr. Doom and Lex Luthor
Both men who believe in the superiority and potential of humanity to transcend superpowered opponents through knowledge and tactics, both these men have access to resources that would allow them to take down most superheroes from their universes. With their combined knowledge and drive, they would be a challenge for any team, utilizing their ruthless and underhanded tactics, combined with their resources, to take down any foe in the way of their ultimate goal.
Team "Dark Lords" - Emperor Palpatine and Lord Voldemort
The most powerful dark lords of their respective universes, they are feared, revered, and privvy to the darkest powers of their worlds. Palpatine (also known as Darth Sidious) is a master of the Dark Side of the Force who almost obliterated the Jedi Order, while Voldemort has gone so far into the Dark Arts that he has become the most feared evil wizard of all time. On a quest for immortality, power, and absolute supremacy, these two will work together to advance their ultimate goal of complete and total domination, if no one is brave enough to try and stop them.
Team "Chaotic Genius" - Abaddon, The Despoiler and Tezzeret, The Seeker
The only one to rally the forces of Chaos around one banner since Horus' death, Abaddon is equipped with the Daemon Weapon Drach'Nyen Abaddon leads the Legions of Chaos in his Black Crusades against the Imperium of Mankind in an attempt to bring it down so that the Chaos Gods may rule the Material universe. With the blessings of the 4 Chaos Gods, Abaddon is nigh unstoppable in his Dark quest for power and vengeance against those who slaughtered his Primarch, Horus. We all know who Tezzeret is.
Team "Disney Villains" - Sorcerer Jafar and Maleficent
Two of the most well-known of the Disney Villains, this is Jafar after the Genie granted him his second wish, to become the most powerful sorcerer in the world. Maleficent, on the other hand, is the mistress of all evil. Together, the two of them have attempted to ruin the resolution of many a fairy tale, and will stop at nothing to make sure the others don't get their happy endings.
Team "Psychic Monsters" - Nicol Bolas and Mewtwo
How might they be if they ever met up? After the end of the Totally-can't-think-of-a-good-name war, Nicol Bolas was finnally defeated by a group of Little Girls and their over-protective moms. "Back to the drawing board then" he thinks as he planes-walks to his hidden base on an unknown world, as he's sitting on the couch he turns to the multi-verse news, where he sees this magnificant creature, with remarkable Psychic powers much like his own. After much studying on this creature he comes to find out it's name, Mewtwo. and he knows what must be done. He build up all of his mental strength to P-walk to this new location he's never been to, after preparing for what, he doesn't know he's off.
On this new world he sees remarkable things, little rats shooting electricity, wingless dragons breathing fire, even a giant turtle shooting water. But not what he was looking for. It is said that what/who he is looking for is very rare and hard to find. After years of searching he finally come to the place of it's home. A lone island in the middle of a giant sea. When he knocks on the door there is no answer, just this little camera atop the door looking at him. He finally gets angry after a few tries and blasts his way through the door. When he steps through the smoky ruins of the frame he is hit by some kind of energy blast, and he can feel someone trying to infiltrate his thoughts. "Who is this, some powerful blue planeswalker?" He yelled through the smoke. "No, it is I, the most powerful of pokemon" says the voice, but not out loud, in his head. "What do you want with me?" said the voice. "I would ask for a partnership" says Bolas in his head to the voice. "One with great power beyond your wildest imagination." a slight pause. "What kind of power?" says the voice, while the smoke is all but settled steps out this creature Bolas has been seeking. "Power to rule the muti-verse" and the creature looked confused. "What is this 'Multi-verse'' it asks. "Agree to help me and I shall Show you" Replied Bolas.
"Okay" Said the creature, "I am Mewtwo" So the two talked for hours and hours exchanging information and explaining the different world. Bolas explained about planeswalking, and being a walker, and the multi-verse, while Mewtwo explained about his world and how humans catch "pokemon". Then they form a partnership to take over the Multi-verse. But as they go to planeswalk away, something goes amiss and they are abruptly thrown into this arena. Where high above their head there seems to be a poll going, and they feel like all of their powers have been drained. but as the poll goes up for their side they start regaining their powers, and some mystical force beyond anything they can do is putting them up against these strange enemies that they've never seen before. What will happen if they win?

Blade is a half vampire half human hybrid who’s sole mission in life is to slay other Vampires. He has killed numerous Vampires in his day and possesses a wide arsenal of tools for killing, even being capable of destroying ancient vampires and “Blood Gods”.
They are together due to their mutual interest in killing Vampires.
Team "Metal Men" - Iron Man and Boba Fett
Iron Man is a billionaire who’s invested a lot of money into making a versatile energy powered suit that keeps him alive and also comes in handy for fighting villains. He uses a number of missiles, energy bursts and projectiles to other convenient gadgets to protect him from a variety of attacks.
Boba Fett is a bounty hunter who’s invested a lot of hit money into making a versatile power armored suit that is equipped with all of the state of the art weapons and accessories from his Universe. He is so good at what he does that he is personally enlisted by Darth Vader to capture or otherwise kill his enemies. Everything from grappling hooks, to laser guns, grenades, jet packs or other convenient gadgets are used to launch him straight into the nearest Sarlacc Pit.
They are together due to their mutual like of Power Armor to get stuff done that they normally couldn’t do outside of them.
Team "We Don't Need No Stinking Powers!" - Batman and The Punisher
Batman is a billionaire who’s parents were killed when he was a young boy. Since then he has donned the cowl as The Batman and single handedly keeps crime under control in a huge metropolis normally riddled with it. Notorious for his Utility Belt that seems to have an answer to every single problem he would ever face in the history of ever.
The Punisher is a fugitive who’s family was killed in front of his eyes. Since then he has donned a skull shirt as The Punisher and single handedly kills villains who have done wrong in a world normally riddled with otherwise alive villains who have done wrong. Notorious for his Battle Van that seems to have every military grade weapon ever produced in the history of ever.
They are together for their similar backstories and similar methods of holding their own in a world surrounded by super villains and heroes.
Team "Pest Control Problem" - Mighty Mouse and King Mickey Mouse (Kingdom Hearts)
Mighty Mouse is a super powered Mouse that is basically Superman is Rodent form.

They are together because they can do damn impressive things despite both being mice.
Team "Fun Size" - Yoda and Kirby
Yoda is a diminutive Jedi Master who has incredible power over the Force and otherwise is a skilled lightsaber duelist in his own right. Hundreds if not thousands of years old, with enough experience in the force to be arguably the strongest Jedi not amplified by a deux ex machine plot device.
Kirby is a diminutive pink blob who has the ability to swallow literally any physical being or object and gain the properties of that being or object. This includes stealing of powers or otherwise just adopting traits that are beneficial to him.
They are together because they are fluffing adorable.
Team "I'm Not A Hero" - Dr. McCay and Wolverine
Dr. McCay is an ultra smart expert on Ancient technology. Fears include citrus, small places, and being anywhere near danger. All he wants to do is play with science and yet ends up constantly being dragged into situations where he has to save the day.
Wolverine is practically indestructible but despite his undeniable power he cares nothing for heroics... until he is forced to. All he wants to do is figure out who he is and who made him the way he is. Somehow something always seems to happen that brings him back into the role of unwilling hero.
Their abilities are on completely opposite ends of the spectrum and yet they have much in common.
Team "Speed" - The Flash (Wally West) and Sonic the Hedgehog
Here are two characters that have been able to travel at the speed of light. Very few teams would be able to keep up with these two. In terms of personality, they are both quite similar as well; brash, impulsive and having a knack for getting themselves into trouble.
Team "Insane" - The Joker and The Green Goblin
Two Characters who want nothing more then to cause Chaos. The Joker who has shown multiple times he not only wants to kill but cause fear in whoever he is after. Instead of killing the bat he seems to prefer killing everything that Batman holds close just to make him suffer. The Green Goblin has several mental illnesses which I'm sure the Joker would have no problems with. Like the Joker, Goblin likes the idea of making the adversary suffer a little before finishing the Job.
Team "Assassins" - Ezio Auditore and Grey Fox
Ezio is arguably the greatest video game assassin of all time. Taking out high profile targets throughout history and walking away from it without anybody ever knowing he was there. They hunger for information, driven by the desire to follow in their creator's footsteps and ascend.
The other is a man who was infested by a race? of the most powerful machines the Star Trek universe has ever encountered. Their adaptability is unmatched making them an incredibly difficult opponent.
Team "Suplex Machine" - Mike Haggar and King
Mike Haggar is the Mayor of Metro City, and to stomp down on crime, he physically manhandles the villains himself. He's essentially the video game equivalent of Jesse Ventura, except before Jesse's time.

They are fighting together to represent the world of Professional Wrestling in the worlds largest Tag Team Grand Prix event.
How well do you do against one?
