Very tough choice on this one. I decided on Banana Cream because Black Bottom Banana Cream is the ****. Either way, I'm glad Solomon Grundy was disqualified from the proceedings. Help's Highroller in his ability to choose something else for his own vote.
Strawberry Rhubarb is the most technically difficult pie I know of (including procuring the best ingredients), and it is truly spectacular when it's done right. Taste-wise it is up there with any of the best pies, but the technical achievement makes it the king of pies to me.
@French Silk Pies - They are crappy saccharine versions of chocolate tarts. They are also commonly known as "chocolate pies", and it's one of the choices available.
Best Fruit Pie - Strawberry Rhubarb. Apple is second, but not dutch apple. That **** doesn't even beat blueberry with uses the same flavors accompanying the fruit.
Best Spice Pie - Pecan Pie (must not use any corn syrup) or Mincemeat.
Best Custard-y Pie - Probably Key Lime with Lemon Meringue and all Slip Pies coming close.
Best Savory Pie - Pizza by the longest distance possible. FTR, shepherd's pie is not pie just called pie.
Worst Pie Crust - Any crust that is basically mushed together crumbles.
Worst Pie - Any pie that requires no cooking. Not no baking, no cooking.
I do find it funny that the pilgrim fathers took the British pie recipes and adapted them into fruit/berry pies because that was what was available, however the ozzie colonists stuck to the more popular savoury meat pies.
Whenever I hear pie I think , Chicken, Steak, Lamb, Beef (or 4 and 20 black birds), all these fruit pies I see on American cooking shows always look more like tarts or flans which are more commonly associated with sweet pastry.
The only fruity pie I really eat is around this time of year in form of Mincepies at Christmas.
100% agree! I have probably only had a fruity pie outside of a Christmas mince pie a handful of times. Meat pies? Thousands. And like ones big enough to hold in one hand, not like massive pies the size of plates.
I think if everyone came here and had a good aussie meat pie they would be converted
Although I put my vote for fish (there's an amazing tuna and corn pie with burnt cheese on top and perfect pastry near my place), it's a very close contest.
My fave was a shop in the outback that did the best chunky steak pie I'd ever eaten. It was slightly larger than a hand-held pie, but that's cos the meat wasn't actually off-cuts.
I'm a big fan of the "cream" pies (i.e. banana, chocolate, coconut). I guess I shouldn't be surprised that apple pie is so popular - it is perhaps the most stereotypical pie - but I really can't stand it, or other fruit pies, for that matter.

I think that covers about anything.
Strawberry rhubarb pie is the all time best.
I happen to have some home made filling that was canned just waiting to become a pie with a flaky crust i'll make myself. hmmmmmmm pie of KINGS!!!
If it were a pie of the non-homemade variety, my choice would be blueberry.

I like a variety of pies, so this answer is poor.
