My sister has been getting pretty freaked out with her ads on her phone. (She has an iphone 6s with 10.1.1 iOS) What I mean from the title is that if she has her iphone on with the google app on and maybe the facebook app on, with them both running in the background, and she has a conversation with her BF face to face, if she says something like "rose gold" in the conversation, she will receive an ad soon giving her a promotion on an item that associates with the phrase such as rose gold rings. These ads appear on (so far) facebook and instagram. Does anybody know what is the cause of this/ how to turn it off? Also, has anybody had any similar experiences?
Personally, I find this fascinating that the algorithms these companies place are complex enough to track this stuff. I highly doubt its like the traditional nsa scare where there is a guy listening in on your specific conversation. My recommendation to her at the moment is to turn off targeted ads wherever she can even if it wont directly shut off the algorithms. She wont do this so far.

I am trying to get better at making decks. I have had trouble creating more competitive decks as I only really build with the cards I have. I dont have that many value cards, in function or expense. I (almost) never play at FNM type events so its not like im playing against $2k decks. If I do usally play at one, Its a draft or limited game. Any advice on building decks is greatly supported! DMs are appreciated.

Has she tried confirming it experimentally? There is always the chance that she mentioned (for instance) 'rose gold' or whatever, as a result of something else that she had Googled or what-have-you. That is, the things she's brought up in conversation are also things she's looked up at some point on the internet, which is the actual cause of the ads appearing? Maybe you could test it by trying highly-profitable phrases she's otherwise uninterested in and has never looked up, see if multiple ads start to show up.
Otherwise, I shouldn't think this is legal at all. Like, seriously illegal in so many ways. And I would guess that, if it were happening, the companies would've been sued already and it would have been a major media frou-frou. (I prefer not to imagine the alternative.)
