Fifth Dawn is my personal favorite set, ever, and despite being a budget player I used to crack those packs like there was no tomorrow. I must have accumulated at least a dozen Arachnoids and Gemstone Arrays, which is ironic cause those are 2 of the very few cards in the set I dislike at all. What really kills me, though, is that in this entire time I have opened ZERO Eternal Witness, which is THE EXACT SAME RARITY.
I, for one, collect bad cards that I make good...some recent examples are: Biorhythm, Oblation, all the Nephilims, Spinal Parasites, and The Planar Chaos "Charm" Dragons. I also collect altered fireballs. I have a "Bola de Fuego" that looks like Pac-Man. If anyone wants to get rid of Biothythms, Oblations, or anything else above (all languages/premiums allowed, as well...:-D) Message me and we'll work something out...I have a bunch of crap I'd gladly trade for collecting crap...LOL
I have a friend who collects mediocre rares to use as substitutes for basic lands in causal, although Serra Avenger is probably a little too good to just be given away
You're at 2, and have an untapped forest and five tapped Saprolings in play and a Verdigris in your hand. Your opponent is at 5, controls two Heartbeat of Springs, and has an attacking Steel Golem coming your way. If that Verdigris was an Oxidize, you'd be dead.

There is no such thing as strictly better.
I'll admit, this post left me confused for a short while.
Desolation Angel. It's one of my favorite cards ever, but no one wants it, and I can't give it away to new players because they don't understand why they'd want to destroy all their lands.

My play group at college enjoys the use of Vizzerdrix, at least. In the Random Magic deck (massive pile that counts as everyone's library we all draw from), we put in Vizzerdrix (and the occasional Trained Orgg) with our own text written on it, usually something that relates to all other Vizzerdrixes.

The franchise MtG most resembles is Battlestar Galactica. Why? Its players exist in, at most, a dozen different models at any given point in time, with perhaps up to 3% variation, 5% if you're lucky.
Where is the mudhole? I think Scornful egotist isnt that bad (with Rush of knowledge anyway). Nor the Death of a thousand stings.
Leveler is far too hilarious to be on that list.
He did say that these were the worst standalone cards, i.e. abysmal if not paired with something to take advantage of their downside. By that definition, Leveler and Scornful Egotist certainly belong in the bottom 9.
I second the Mudhole nomination, and add Retract (so long as it's standalone).
I love it, but no one else seems to...
Hey I don't collect them but I have about 20 of them. Their right next to my collection of foil/textless unmakes.
No kidding.
Just waiting on getting my list unretired.

Verdigris is Uncommon and it's always been It's strictly better than Oxidize.
I like 4/4s for 7.
