"Hmmm? What do we have here?" Atticus took out the Poke'dex, which informed him that this poke'mon was called a Stunky.
"Well, at least we got to check out what the Poke'mon was called this ti....Sneasel?"
Sneasel wasn't paying attention to Atticus, as it was as interested in the Stunky as the Stunky was in it. It seemed Sneasel could sense that the wild Poke'mon was preparing to do something, so it took a defensive stance and waited for its opponent to make its move. It didn't even notice Atticus talking to it or trying to give it move suggestions.
Yeah, Atticus's Sneasel gets a bit...out there when it sees another Dark type. Look at me, trying to give a bit of character depth!
Hey, no problem at all. Play it up all you want, it makes for good stories . . . Oh, and by the way, nice call on the Stunky
Seeing what looked like a challenge from Sneasel, the Stunky charged in and tried to scratch, while Atticus' PokeDex spoke . . . "Stunky, the skunk pokemon. It sprays a foul fluid from its rear. Its stench spreads over a mile raduis, driving pokemon away. A poison/dark pokemon."
I'm not a Poke'mon nerd. Nope, not at all. PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE TENGEN TOPPA GURREN SQUIRTLE THAT IS MY AVATAR.
"Hmm...well that explains it. Sneasel never did like other Dark types....I guess I better just leave this one to him. I'll have to intervene if things get serious, but when he gets this way....*sigh*"
Meanwhile, Sneasel saw nothing but the Stunky. It was totally oblivious to everything that wasn't the immediate surroundings or the little skunk that stood in its way. Where as usually Sneasel would have easily avoided the incoming attack from the foe, held its ground as Stunky's attack hit. Sneasel quickly brought its claws to bear, hoping to return the favor.
The Stunky took the hit, and again tried to scratch back. It was obviously displeased at a foreign creature invading it's territory so brazenly like Sneasel did.
Sneasel again took the blow. Atticus could hardly watch even though he knew that it had to be this way. Sneasel backed away from the Stunky, but this time it didn't take a defensive stance. Suddenly, it started moving even more quickly than usual.
"What? Sneasel...if you're trying to move that fast, you won't be able to reliably use your claws to use Scratch....Unless....No, he couldn't be trying to..."
Consorting his Poke'dex, Atticus soon confirmed his fears. Sneasel wasn't trying to use his claws....it was going to try and attempt a Quick Attack.
"Sneasel....we haven't worked on that move before, you know that! Don't overexert yourself! If you can't succeed in using it, don't try it again!"
Knowing that his words probably didn't even reach Sneasel, Atticus resigned himself to waiting to see if Sneasel could keep on moving at this pace and launch an attack, or if he would fall flat on his face. Atticus hoped it was the former.
Sneasel streaked in faster than Stunky could move, raking its claws through some dirt in the process, but still dealing a fair amount of damage as well. Stunky proceeded to expel some liquid, part of which turned immediately to a gas and tried to encircle Sneasel as it rushed past. (Poison Gas)
Atticus could barely follow Sneasel's speed when it finally moved in to attack. The hit rang true, and Atticus could tell that it was a fairly powerful blow. Atticus also saw the gas that the Stunky released. If it was a Poison type, that would mean....Atticus winced as he realized the nature of that gas.
"SNEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAA!" Sneasel was proud of itself for using a move it hadn't previously. So proud it almost didn't notice the gas that Stunky sprayed...had it not been for Sneasel's keen eyes, it might have missed it entirely. Sneasel managed to avoid most of the cloud, but couldn't help but whiff a little of the noxious fumes. Coughing a bit, Sneasel decided to risk trying another Quick Attack.
Dice Roller1 D100 rolled

Do I have to continue rolling for QA? And if so, when does Sneasel officially learn the move?
It will actually learn QA during it's progression in "levels" . . . but as long as it's not actually known, yes the rolls are necessary. Have to balance unlearned moves somehow, and the variable % effectiveness seems to work
The first burst of speed may have been a bit too much for Sneasel. This time, it was noticeably slower, but it still managed to hit Stunky. The blow appeared to comb through a fair amount of hair, though, as Stunky rocked with the blow, but remained standing with ease. Once again, while it's opponent was in close range, the skunk tried to scratch with its foreclaws.
Ah, that seems a really great way to balance out the moves. I'll have to keep that in mind.
"Snea...Snea..." Sneasel was getting worn down. It could tell that the second Quick Attack was slower and less powerful than the first. Whether it be that the move was simply out of Sneasel's capabilities to use regularly or the effect of the gas, Sneasel could tell that another Quick Attack was out of the question. Sneasel was grazed by the Scratch from Stunky, but it hurt just the same. It was do or die time, and Sneasel knew it. It had to finish the battle with the next move, or it risked fainting right then and there.
With firm resolve, Sneasel Scratched with all it had.
The Stunky came in, claws in a frenzy as well, and both pokemon appeared to connect. The skunk, however, appeared to have less fight left in him. It laid on the ground for a minute, and struggled to regain it's footing as Sneasel appeared to be on its last legs as well. (HP red zone on Stunky)
Sneasel knew full well that it couldn't launch another attack. However, it still pushed itelf to raise its arm for one last claw swipe. If it could only...get one more...hit....
"Poke'ball, go!"
Atticus threw the Poke'ball before Sneasel could go any farther. If either one of the two tried to make another move, they would be seriously injured. And, knowing Sneasel, it wouldn't stop until one of them was completely exhausted. There was only one way, and that was why Atticus threw the Poke'ball. Besides, having another Dark type on the team would hopefully help Sneasel get over whatever it had for other Dark types....that is, if the Poke'ball managed to capture the Stunky. Hopefully it did...Atticus watched anxiously as the skunk disappeared into the Poke'ball.
As Atticus and Sneasel ran toward Osiers, they passed by a young lady roaming through a stagnant pond. She looked up at the noise. "Hey, you're making a lot of noise doing that. It's harder to catch pokemon! You scared away the Seviper I was watching."
She sighed at Atticus' response. "Oh, you'd better get to the Pokemon Center then. Just keep going you're almost to Osiers." The trainer then turned back around, continuing her search for a Seviper.
It took a couple minutes to spot the little green pokemon from all the grass and undergrowth in the bushes, but a face looks up from the dirt at Jerrin. "Odd?"
No worries, sometimes it happens . . . I haven't been religious in checking, because school keeps me on the go. Glad to have you back again! Oh, and nice call on the following you part
The little pokemon took a couple steps after Jerrin. "Odd-dish dish?"
The little Oddish started rambling on in its own voice. The green fronds on its head waved back and forth, twisted this way and that. It was somewhat apparent that the little thing was constantly being harassed by more predatory creatures on the area, and was taken with Jerrin's kindness. When it finished it's indecipherable rant, it hopped up to Jerrin's leg and nuzzled it gently and looked up at him.
Hey! Glad to have you back, and don't worry about your tempo
As Oddish followed along at Jerrin's heels, a long snake-like creature came out from the side of the path in an attempt to gobble up the little root. "OOOOOOOOOOOOODDD!!!" was all the little plant pokemon could say before the snake had it pinned in its jaws, it's bladed tail waving menacingly at Jerrin.

. . . and winked out with a soft chime.
"Sneasel, you know you're a real handful sometimes, right? Come on, we need to get you to a Poke'mon Center."
Atticus scooped up Sneasel, who had little strength left with which to resist. Atticus started running down the path.
Luckily, it seemed as though Osiers was not far off. Atticus continued running toward Osiers, hoping he'd make it before Sneasel got to bad...
He stands up and recalls Relicanth into the puddleball. He then makes a tentative retreat toward Osiers.

"Tackle it, Relicanth!" Jerrin orders, as he whips out his pokedex.
The fish leaps from its puddle at the snake to free the Oddish. Jerrin aims his pokedex to find out what this thing is.
