While Yahoola could not avoid the damage from the Confusion do to his close proximity to the Bronzor, he was able to hold his focus on his foe and resist getting confused.
"Yahoola, use Sand Tomb to trap it." The Trapinch smashed at the ground with his feet and summoned a small sandstorm around the Bronze Pokemon.
"Hold on, Bronzor! Give it a taste of your extrasensory ability!" From deep within the whirling column of sand, a faint glow can be seen as it violently lashes out at Yahoola.
The second, more powerful, psychic attack knocked Yahoola back a few feet. He was still able to stand and continue the battle, though Billy wanted to end it quickly so that his best friend could take part in the match against the Gym Leader.
"Okay Yahoola, although we always battle seriously, I think that it is time to show them what you're really capable of. Use Faint Attack to get within the Tomb, then switch to Bite when you see the Bronzor. Let us see if they can concentrate on their mind attacks while you chomp on them."
Yahoola once again disappeared into a cloud of dust, only to reappear next to the Bronzor attempting to deliver a Bite. A Bite that would hopefully cause the Bronze Pokemon to Flinch.
"Extrasensory again!" Henry commanded his pokemon, but it didn't appear to be responding. It may have flinched from the previous attack. (OOC: you got lucky on the coin flip)
"Yahoola, it's time for us to put that Sand Tomb to proper use. Bury it in the swirling sands with your Ant Pit Driver!"
The Trapinch once again used his Faint Attack, but this time he took the Bronzor along for the ride into the sky. Then he took aim for the Sand Tomb on the ground and prepared to drop.
OOC: I know this is free form rpg, but I am rolling a percentile to see if hypnosis works for fairness sakes. In gen. 4 it has 60% accuracy, so if I roll 40 or lower Yahool stays awake. I'll post what happens after that.
Although Bronzor was able to get one last attack off at Yahoola, the Hypnosis did not stick. Yahoola proceeded to drop himself and the Bronzor straight into the Sand Tomb on the ground.
As his Pokemon landed, Billy yelled out, "Yahoola get away from there. Our opponents are tough, and they might still be standing."
Henry recalled his Bronzor when it was clear that it was having trouble maintaining it's levitation. "Nope, that's it for us. Nice battle, you really worked for it. Interesting move combination you have there."
Congrats, you defeated Ruin Maniac Henry. You receive 350p, and Yahoola receives +5 experience
Your battle continues...
OOC: I sorry, branching storylines like that simply can't work...
Edit: Since your battle just finished...
You finish battling Henry, heal you pokemon and then return to face Gym Leader Ashlee...
It is nice to finally meet you Gym Leader Ashlee. My name is Billy and I am here to issue you a Gym Challenge. Because I am not completely sure on the specifics of a Gym Battle and I am the challenger, would you please run through the rules and start the battle by going first.
"Hi, Billy. It's nice to meet you. They're usually XvX battles, where the challenger and I use the same number of pokemon. So if I use two (like I will for this battle), then you can only use two from your team. If you're ready to start, I'll begin by choosing Mawile."
"Okay, thank you Ashlee. Well a Mawile, I have not seen one of those in a long time. Yahoola, let's get this started." After his Trapinch appeared from the red glow, Billy got ready for what Ashlee and Mawile were going to attack Yahoola and him with.
"Yahoola, hang back and wait for Mawile to go first."
"Time to show you how astonishing gym battles can be!" With the subtle cue from Ashlee, Mawile sprang into action, suddenly behind Yahoola and slamming with its oversized maw in an attempt to knock Yahoola away.
"Yahoola, there's no time to send an attack back at them, so lets use some defensive maneuvers. Shield yourself with Sand Tomb."
As the Mawile closed in for the attack, Yahoola stomped the ground and a spiral of dirt, sand, and small rocks rose up around the Trapinch. As the Mawile smashed into the ground type, the Tomb raged around them both.
"Lock it in the vice!" Mawile was proving rather resilient against the effects of the sand tomb, and it tried to lock it's enormous jaws around Yahoola and squeeze like a vice.
"That is quite some impressive mouth you two have there, but Yahoola's Bite is stronger. Ant Lion Crush!"
While Mawile tried to sink its teeth into the Trapinch, Yahoola was able to intercept with his own crushing attack. The two became locked at the teeth trying to see who would last longer during their struggle.
"Don't take that, astonish again and break the stalemate!" Mawile released its jaws, and quickly swung around Yahoola, trying to trip it up and make it flinch again.
When Billy had finished his command, it was not hard for him to tell that something was wrong. His Trapinch was having difficulties attacking the Mawile, their opponent's last attack must have made them Flinch. Billy decided it was best for him to give a defensive order on the off chance that Yahoola could get away.
"Hurry! Vice grip it again while it tries to run away from you!" Yahoola created a stir of dust and dirt as it tried to get away. Mawile dove right into the cloud, and there was a noise similar to its jaws clamping shut. Whether somethign was inside those jaws remained to be seen.
As the dust dissipated from Yahoola's scurrying . . .
Before the dust had settled and Ashlee could see what had happened, Billy could see through the sand that his Pokemon was caught by one of his back legs in Mawile's large jaws.
"Yahoola, use the sand in the air for a Sand Tomb on Mawile." Billy was hoping that the steel types weakness would begin to show.
Yahool concentrated on the cloud of dirt and dust, and began to buffet the Mawile with his own attack.
"Bite down hard, Mawile! Let's try to end it!" Mawile was starting to show signs of fatigue, but it still attempted to wrap its jaws around Yahoola again, this time just going for a powerful chomp on the little pokemon. (hp yellow)
Mawile is staggered by the force of the attack. While it was clearly resistant to the dark powers involved with the attack, it was getting exhausted from the battle and Yahoola had struck a particularly vulnerable spot. Ashlee withdrew it, and tossed in her second pokeball. "Let's go, Anorith! Time to end this round with your water gun!" The fossil pokemon skittered quickly in its many legs, and fired a torrent of water from its perch on a rock face close to Yahoola.
"Yahoola, use Sand Tomb to trap it." The Trapinch smashed at the ground with his feet and summoned a small sandstorm around the Bronze Pokemon.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.

Yahoola was able to use a burst of energy to escape the maw and appear in front of Billy, but he was tired. (HP also Yellow)
