"Aron! You've got one shot at this; if that club hits you you're toast. Meet it head-on with a headbutt!" The armored pokemon took of with a surprising speed, ground trembling from the combined force of the thumping club of the Cubone and the heavyweight charge of the Aron. The two looked to be on a collision course right in the center of the arena field.
Rai, saw the charge and realized Cubone wouldn't have time to swing. "Cubone, hold your Bone Club in both hands and thrust at its head." Cubone still had a head of steam and continued to rush at Aron. Instead of swinging the club it grasped it in both hands and lashed out with a hard thrust, as if his club were a spear. The collision between the two Pokemon threw up a huge cloud of dust. When the dust cleared...
(OOC: up to me, eh? Let's make it a bit more interesting, then)
As the dust settled, both pokemon appeared to be incapable of continuing the battle. "One down, one to go. Who's it going to be?" Ashlee called out as she reached for her other pokeball.
(OOC: I didn't think I had the right to declare myself the winner in a gym battle, lol)
Rai thanks Cubone for its hard work. "Good job, Cubone! Take a nice rest." Now the true battle would begin. "Kakuna, go!"
"Kakuna, just like we practiced! Trust me!" Ashlee sent out her final Pokemon, Anorith. "Kakuna, use Sticky Ball on Anorith!" Kakuna's Sticky Ball homed in on Anorith, intent on delivering its sticky payload.
Anorith was tangled up in the strings, but broke free will little effort. "Anorith, water gun, now!" The fossil pokemon started to spray water at Kakuna, trying to knock it on its side or back.
The water attack indeed knocked Kakuna flat on its back. With string shot ineffective, there wasn't much Kakuna could do against the rock Pokemon. Rai was forced to say: "Kakuna, return!" This fight would need his best, so he chose his best.
"Magnemite, go!" Rai wore a mask of anger. "How, dare you hurt Kakuna! Magnemite, Tackle attack!" However, the mask of anger was only a ruse. While Rai said the word "Tackle" he gave the canceling gesture via sync, while gesturing for Magnemite to charge Anorith. Rai waited for Anorith to make its move before ordering Magnemite to unleash its Thundershock. He hoped to lure Anorith into making a physical attack so he could counter it with a point blank range Thundershock.
"Don't fall for it, Anorith, he's up to something. Prepare yourself!" Ashlee shouted. There was a distinct sound of armor plates clacking into place as Anorith's shell hardened.
Rai was disappointed Anorith didn't take the bait. Still he had closed the gap increasing the accuracy of his attack. Since the opponent clearly intended to just take the attack, Rai would give it one. However, one that ignored defense completely.
"Magnemite, Sonicboom!" Rai ordered verbally, not wanting to let his secret out of the bag just yet.
The force of the sonic attack kicked Anorith around a bit. "Short it out with a bath!" Anorith begna to spray a water gun around the immediate area that Magnemite was hovering, like a steady rain shower.
Rai had been waiting for Anorith to try its water attack. He gestured for Magnemite to unleash its Thundershock. After the gesture to disguise his sync ability Rai said "Magnemite, Thundershock!" The Thundershock traveled along the path of the stream straight to its source.
Magnemite took Anorith's water attack, having no room to dodge it at close range and was knocked backwards taking heavy damage. Hoping to take advantage of his momentum Rai recalled Magnemite and sent out Gible. "Magnemite, return! Gible, go! Gible, use Dragon Rage to finish this!" The dragon Pokemon unleashed its powerful attack headed straight for Anorith...
Ashlee returned Anorith before the dragon rage could hit. "There's really no need for that." She walked over and shook Rai's hand. "Congratulations, you've won your gym challenge."
Rai receives the Hematite badge and $600. Cubone and Starly each receive +3 experience . . . Kakuna, Gible, and Magnemite each receive +2 experience.
Magnemite was hit by the spores and put to sleep. "Magnemite, return! Dangit, I'll have to end this fast." said Rai. He decided to send out a super-duper effective Pokemon.
"Go Starly! Wing Attack! Hit it quick before it can counter!" said Rai, trying to end the fight quickly before his Pokemon met the same fate.
Rai challenges Kindler Gary to a battle. "Go, Cubone!" he shouts throwing the Pokeball.
Cubone bursts out of the Pokeball in a fury, smashing giant holes in the ground with its Thick Club, clearly still upset at its loss to Beedrill. "Cubone, Bonemerang!" orders Rai, bringing his best straight from the start.
"Torchic, light the bone up with an ember or two." As the bone collided with Torchic, it twisted its body enough that the spray of fire washed over the bone, lighting parts of it on fire.
The Bonemerang hit the Torchic a second time on its return trip.
The bone returned and Cubone tried to catch it, but it was forced to drop it yelping in pain. The super-hot bone scalded Cubone's hand. It tried again and again in vain to pick up the dropped bone but failed. The Cubone wailed as it could not reclaim its signature weapon. Rai not wanting to prolong Cubone's agony simply said "Cubone, return!"
Rai sent out another ground Pokemon, although this one had no super effective attacks. Its best move was effective on all Pokemon however. "Gible, go! Use Dragon Rage on Vulpix!"
Edit: Pokemon section of this thread updated with Cubone's current card. Sorry about that.
OOC: I'm aware of the effectiveness of the attacks. Please don't make decisions about pokemon you do not control.
Torchic was badly injured, and Gary knew that the bone club had been particularly effective. He recalled Torchic, and threw out another pokeball. "Go Vulpix! Use your quick attack to dodge that rage and knock it off balance!" Vulpix was wounded by the rage, not being able to completely maneuver out of the way, but it still ran in for the strike.
(OOC: Now I know not to. Edited my post accordingly.)
Rai and Gible were surprised at the Vulpix's tenacity. Neither reacted quick enough as Vulpix slammed into Gible. Neither Rai nor Gible wanted to lose on toughness. Gible, show that Vulpix you're stronger! Tackle it!
"Strength challange? Give it all you've got Vulpix, try to scare it away!" Vulpix loosed a mighty bellow that could cause many creatures to tremble with fear. (Roar)
"Gible, don't give in! Channel your Dragon Rage and continue your Tackle!" shouted Rai. Gible tried to overcome his fear with rage as he continued to charge Vulpix for a big tackle.
"Charge it with your quick attack, but then trip it with your tail!" Vulpix ran at Gible just as quickly, but then at the last second it tried to dodge away and wrap its tail around Gible's legs and trip it into the dirt.
Rai reacted quickly to the increase in speed knowing he'd have to slow the Vulpix down or distract it somehow. "Gible, dive into the ground to spray Vulpix with sand then come up and attack it from below with your Tackle attack!"
As the dust settled, both pokemon appeared to be incapable of continuing the battle. "One down, one to go. Who's it going to be?" Ashlee called out as she reached for her other pokeball.

Rai sends out Magnemite... quietly. It slowly floats into attack range and then lets loose a loud Sonicboom at the Paras.
"Go Starly! Wing Attack! Hit it quick before it can counter!" said Rai, trying to end the fight quickly before his Pokemon met the same fate.
Congrats, you defeated a wild Paras! Magnemite and Starly each receive +3 experience.
