Ian was ready for this one. "Bagon, plant your feet in the ground and lift your head up!"
Not quite sure what was going on, Bagon pushed down with his feet, firmly planting them into the arena floor. With the spin's momentum still carrying his upper body, as Bagon lifted its head up, it lifted the Sandshrew into the air with it.
"Now, Bagon! Headbutt into the ground!"
The Dragon-type growled, and slammed its hard head downwards into the ground - and the Sandshrew along with it.
Sandshrew was thrown to the ground hard. Unable to get to its feet again, it was obvoius that Sandshrew was done battling this time. Ronin recalled it, and sent out Machop. "Toss it up!" Machop ran in and tried to grab Bagon in a locking hold and avenge its teammate. (Siesmic Toss)
Bagon's rage did a number on Machop, but on "Kick!" it quickly lashed out with a low, sweeping kick as Machop tried to knock the legs out from under Bagon.
"Hold, than Chop!" Machop stood its ground as Bagon put on a show of becoming more enraged before it charged in for another attack. Taking the hit and rolling to the side with some of the force, Machop spun in place and aimed to deliver a stiff karate chop directly onto Bagon's backside as the dragon pokemon ran past.
Bagon cried out in pain, stumbling forward until it hit the ground. Its body trembled as it tried to get up, but had to struggle just to stand. The Dragon-type swayed back and forth, as if it was about to tumble at any moment.
Ian pulled out its Pokeball, recalling Bagon. "Bagon, return!" The red beam snatched a hold of it before it fell over, bringing it back. He pulled Pidgey's back out, not quite knowing if he was only allowed a certain number of Pokemon, and threw it back onto the field. "Come on, Pidgey! Let's finish this!"
Pidgey came out in a rush, its wings flapping as it seemed a little more energetic than when it was recalled, as if it was eager to get back into things. "Now, Pidgey! Gust! Stay out of its reach!"
The Flying-type took off in the air, circling the Machop, as it began flapping its wings downwards with force, causing gusts of wind to fly down at the Fighting-type.
"Dodge it, Pidgey!" The Flying-type was already on the move, however, flying upwards sharply to dodge Machop's hands. It twisted back around in the air, hovering just out of reach of its enemy.
The 'flying out of reach' strategy, Ian knew, wasn't the cleanest way to win a fight, but at the moment it was effective, and in the end that's all that mattered to him. "Gust again!"
The Pidgey began flapping its wings again, forcefully pushing gusts of air at the Fighting-type below it.
"Hold, and wait." Machop stood his ground, and was able to dodge the gust attack since Pidgey was so far above the arena. It gave a piercing leer at the bird, but stood there watching otherwise.
OOC: Pretty much force you to do nothing else...^^;
"Pidgey, get closer and use Gust again!" Ian shouted. If Pidgey kept missing, it'd tire it out too much; he had to at least make sure the moves were going to be accurate.
The Flying-type dropped down, hovering just out of Machop's reach, before it pummeled the air with its wings again.
OOC: well, you said yourself that it's not the cleanest way to win a fight
Buffeted by the gust at closer range now, Machop weathere the blow but Ronin knew it had to end soon. "Toss!" Machop leapt up at the Pidgey one last time; the battle was going to end one way or another. (Seismic Toss, hp very red)
"Pidgey, Tackle it, now!" As Machop's hand reached up to grab a part of Pidgey for Seismic Toss, Pidgey's body lunged forward to hopefully slam into the Machop and knock it backwards - and even more hopefully, to knock it out for the count.
Machop's grip wasn't the strongest at this point in the match, and Pidgey easily slipped out of it to tackle the muscle pokemon square in the chest. They fell to the ground, and as Pidgey took to wing again, Machop was unable to stand any longer. "Well fought. You've earned this."
Congrats! You defeated Gym Leader Ronin! You receive the Obsidian Badge, 1200p, and both Pidgey and Bagon gain +6 experience
Excited, Ian grabbed Bagon off his belt, eyeing the Houndoor - he'd be a perfect addition to the team. The Dragon-type practically leaped out of its Pokeball the moment Ian opened it, and eyed the Houndoor with grim determination, growling under its breath.
"Alright, Bagon, get in close with it, then lead off with Headbutt."
Bagon didn't need any encouragement; once he received his command, he lunged after Houndoor, guns a-blazin'.
Houndour was caught by the headbutt, and knocked backwards a bit. It recovered quickly enough, and countered with a fierce bite aiming for Bagon's legs in an attempt to trip the other pokemon up.
Bagon's Rage was stronger this time, and Houndour received the full force of it. Standing from where it was knocked backward, Houndour burst another stream of embers toward the dragon. (hp red)
Ian saw his chance. The words "Bagon, retreat!" had barely escaped his lips before he was already taking the empty Pokeball out of his bag. By the time the Dragon had started moving, he was already winding backwards.
He let out a deep breath as he leaned forward, his arm swinging around to the front, the Pokeball releasing from his fingers.
Ian took a closer look at the person a short distance away, noting the Pokeballs around his waist. 'A trainer!' he thought, excited. 'Maybe he'd be interested in a battle...'
He reached up into the air, waving his arms to catch the trainer's attention. "Hey~! Trainer!" he shouted, running towards him. As excited as he was, it only took a few moments to catch up. He smiled, taking Houndour's Pokeball off of his belt and tossing it into the air. "Care for a quick battle?"

Ian clenched his fist, biting his lip for a moment, and then had an idea. "Bagon, Rage! Use your anger against it!"
The Bagon lifted its head and roared again before rushing at Machop with teeth and claws ready.

"Bagon, Rage one more time!" Ian shouted. Bagon lunged forward at the Machop with all of its anger.

"Bagon, use Rage!" The Dragon-type growled, moving to give the Houndoor a taste of its own medicine, teeth and claws bared.

Bagon gave a grunt towards Ian and lowered its head, charging directly at the Houndoor's bared teeth.

Ian gritted his teeth - he'd have to get him healed after this. "Give it all you got, Bagon! Rage!"
With eyes of blazing fire, the Dragon-type lunged at Houndoor.
