Derick had hurt his leg on his way out of the temple, apparently trying to run and record is a bad combination. Out of worry, Iron had evolved into a Larion and carried his trainer out of there on his back, following the others to the Rangers Station.
Rai exited the temple with the others and joined them at the Ranger Station.
(OOC: Sorry about the MIA. I'll still be MIA for 2 weeks or so. Until I come back I'm auto-following Josh/Billy. Josh and Billy may feel free to RP my character if they wish and use my items.)
Announcement #1: Recently, we've had our first player Pokemon reach the end of its move sets. In order to open up additional moves for Pokemon in the "end game" phase, I've decided to implement supplementary moves in the form of HM moves. Unlike the games, these moves will only be unlocked when a Pokemon has reached the end of their natural move set. In addition, there will be a reasonable limit on which HMs Pokemon can learn. For example, Bladestorm (a Skarmory) wouldn't be able to learn Surf, Waterfall, Whirlpool, or Dive but would be able to learn Cut, Fly, Strength, Rock Smash, Rock Climb, Flash and Defog. They'll still be limited by the 20BL cap but up until then a Pokemon can learn any HM move that it could reasonable learn (once they've exhausted their natural move set of course) just like any other move. For the record there are 11 HM moves available:
Cut
Fly
Strength
Rock Smash
Rock Climb
Flash
Defog
Surf
Waterfall
Whirlpool
Dive
Announcement #2: With the release of the three Legendary Pokemon, there will be some changes happening to Ageos. First, the three Legneds will be moving thorugh the region changing the environment as they do. For example, Virikas will be burning both the landscape and its inhabitants as it moves, while Hydrix will bring with it strong thunderstorms and heavy rain fall and Yakshas will stimulate massive plant growth in its wake. They will be moving through the region counter-clockwise using the Map break down from the map thread (ie. Northern Ageos, Northwestern Ageos, Southwestern Ageos, Southeastern Ageos, and East-Central Ageos.)
Legend Status:
Virikas: Northern Ageos, just east of El Ectri City.
Hydrix: East-Central Ageos, just east of Magnolia City.
Yakshas: Southeastern Ageos, just north of Russetton.
Your group of trainers, the two professors, their students, Judy and Raikou all meet back at the ranger's station in the Southern Antearenae Desert to plan out what to do next.
What do you guys do?
The Pidgey hops down and start nibbling on the piece of sandwich. It seems quite content.
What do you do?
OOC: Don't forget to roll a "Friendly Capture" check next time. I did for you this time and it has succeeded but next time you might not be as lucky. ;):)
OOC: There was some miscommunication between Rider and myself/Immersa. Gym leaders in Ageos don't give out TMs as part of the reward for defeating them. This is for a couple of reasons.
First, there is the mechanical reason, each Pokemon can only learn a limited number of TM moves (4), if each gym leader gave out a TM every time someone defeated them then the TM slots on the player's Pokemon would be completely full in no time flat.
Next is the flavor reason, Ageos is much more further removed from the rest of the Pokemon world than other regions, consequently this means that they're "on their own" for a lot of technology. TMs have been introduced into Ageos but their use is no where near as widespread as in other regions.
Finally, there is the overarching reason for the previous two reasons, I wanted TMs to be something special here in Ageos. Every time I played a Pokemon game, I strove to collect every TM, especially the rare unique ones. Because of this I cherished each one and couldn't bring myself to "lose" a TM to move learning. I wanted TMs to be special and if the Gym Leaders spammed the world with Badge TMs then they wouldn't be special.
Also TMs are one-shot deals. You use them, you lose them.
One final OOC, you're not going to find baby Pokemon in the wild, you're going to have to breed for them or trade for them.
Having defeated your first Gym leader you heal your team then head back into the mines, short cutting towards Russetton.
Once you're near the center of the mines, you take some time to look for wild Pokemon. It doesn't take you too long to find a Whismur quietly murmuring to itself in a corner of the cave...
What do you do?
Your Great ball sucessfully captures the "friendly" Cacnea as it comes in for a hug... (Are you going to keep it on you or send it to the box?)
After you decide you head southwest out of the desert to Route 13 (Center)...
Once you're there you start looking for passing trainers that may know about these "Dragoons". About 15 minutes later you run into Backpacker Theodore and his Teddiursa.
Thanks to Rai helping perform some first aid, Josh was able to recover to the point where he could walk and ride again after a few days. With everyone fairly healthy again and the group having caught a glimpse of the devastation Virikas was capable of by itself, it was time to get down to business.
"As it stands now, we have absolutely no way to fight back against those...things," Josh said, dejected. "Even Raikou was totally powerless against them by himself." He paused and sighed, stiff from having been in bed for so long. "Together, we can defeat them. But it will be a team effort, and not now. All of us together were barely able to defeat Jenny. Even one of those...things...could single-handedly annihilate every last one of our Pokémon and us within a matter of minutes right now. We all need to hone our skills, each in our own way. The easiest way to do that, for most of us, will be resuming the Ageos Gym Challenge. I plan on resuming mine. Be very careful when traveling. If you come across one of these...whatever they're called...hop on the back of your fastest Pokémon and flee with all haste. Speaking of haste, that leaves us with one very important blessing we've received."
With that, the brave, bandaged trainer faced Raikou. "Great Beast of Thunder, we cannot hope to stand up to this threat alone, and you know as well as I do that you cannot, either. We need to coordinate our efforts, and I feel that I am the only one of the group with enough experience with high speeds and fast enough reflexes to coordinate directly with you." He stood up and slowly approached the six-foot Beast. "I feel to win this battle, I'm going to need to improve my speed tolerance, and I cannot think of a better way than learning how to ride you, Raikou."
If Raikou agrees to it, Josh will want to start training immediately, preferably in the desert where it's wide open, since his face is protected from loose sand by his racing helmet. Otherwise, Josh will agree to whatever (reasonable) measures Raikou feels are necessary to prove his credentials first.
ooc: Right now, Josh can tolerate about 60% of Raikou's maximum unboosted land speed.
OOC: Don't forget to roll a "Friendly Capture" check next time. I did for you this time and it has succeeded but next time you might not be as lucky. ;):)
OOC: Woops, rookie mistake, wasn't aware there's a friendly capture check. Will keep it in mind for next time
As the Pidgey finishes up with its food, Kira asks it 'Hey, how about hanging on for a while longer? I could really use a strong bird in my team.' With that, she offers the Pidgey a pokeball.
Geoff nodded slowly. "I guess we don't have an option. From what I felt within that pyramid...as I am now, I don't stand a chance. I need to get stronger. All we can do is keep an eye out for each other, and help each other along the way." He said, ruffling Combusken's feathers. "Still, I think we should talk to the professor, and see what he can tell us."

Upon hearing the news that Magnolia is threatened, Nicolette immediately tried to contact Sofia at the gym to warn her. "C'mon, pick up. Pick up!"
"He--o? Nicolette?" a faint voice resonded through the static.
"Sofia! Yes, it's Nicolette. Listen, there are ancient pokemon on the loose now. Three of them. You need to get everyone to safety! Magnolia City is right in the path of one!"
"Oh my, that's --------. I'll get on it right away, and let ------ Isle know -- ---- -- ---- shelter. Storm surg-- --- already crashing onto --- -----." The line went dead, Nicolette trying to determine if the full impact of what she had said made it through the static of the transmission.
It wasn't long before she made up her mind. "Everyone, I'm going back to Magnolia. They need help, and Lazuli isn't far from there, either. Sofia said something about storm surges, so the island probably isn't fairing very well." Quickly gathering her things, and making sure her pokemon were taken care of after the battle, she turned as she was about to leave. "I'll see you later. Wish me luck."
Mother of Moltres, I hope I can get through this one . . . Nicolette hopped onto Emberlace, and the pair sped off toward Magnolia City with all haste. (Emberlace will use a tempered agility to boost her speed)
Hey. This is going to be rough, but if you want to come along feel free to catch up to me. I can't wait to talk to either of you right now, since Magnolia and Lazuli are in immediate danger. You know how to contact me, if need be.
xo --Nicolette
OOC: She'll pick up but remember that Hydrix travels around with a massive thunder storm, the lightning might interfere with communication making it a bit static-y.

ooc: Oh, speaking of thunderstorms, one interesting thing about Raikou. Whenever there's a thunderstorm around not generated by Raikou, his top land speed increases according to the strength of the thunderstorm. This will make riding very dangerous while Hydrix is around due to the added speed. For instance, in a thunderstorm that produces hurricane-force winds, Raikou's land speed is augmented by about 40%.
"You can just go underground for protection from lightning storms," Josh started, "but you can't be protected from earthquakes or fires anywhere. I feel awful for the people of El Ectri--they're in danger and there isn't a thing we can do about it." He turned around. "Raikou, you might be a bit too close to Nicolette while she's trying to make this phone call. We should move farther away from her."

A mere ten days after the Mending, a young knight of Valeron and a young ranger of Eos made a discovery that would change Alara forever.
Derick, now a bit more recovered, is trying to get anything he can out of the footage and data he recorded, "I just don't think this thing has the processing power required to figure out what just happened..." he inquires with those around if they know of any place better to analyze the collected data. All the while, his Larion by his side, even evolved, he prefers to be out and with his trainer when possible.
After the battle, Beryl will continue on to Laurel City, heal her Pokemon at the Pokemon Center, buy some new clothes and get a haircut (-50 P), then train all her Pokemon and look for items.
Given Frizz's lack of internet access having just moved to a new apartment, he decides to forego battle and train his pokemon amongst themselves, having Feelix brace itself against Scymon's Vacuum Wave while Tuffie tries to sing them both to sleep.
OOC: I saw all your OOC and edited my Wishlist accordingly. ADDED: Togepi, Clefairy REMOVED: Cleffa, Munchlax, Piplup, Magnemite
One last OOC question: Is Squirtle a pokémon I could find without fishing, since it has, you know, legs and stuff?
The team then heads west twice and looks for wishlist pokémon.
"Yeah, getting stronger is likely our best move at the moment. I'm going to head back to Celeste and challenge Gym Leader Michael. I'm gonna start training up the other members of my team that I haven't been able to focus on with all of this Team Rocket business happening. Billy checked over his other Pokemon. Fenghuang was doing better, but he still felt that she shouldn't get involved in any Battles until he made it to a Pokemon Center. He younger Pokemon did all seem to have plenty of energy so he had them train among themselves. He had Sobek, Yuki-oona, and Avalerion train, mainly focusing on Yuki-oona to help her catch up to the other two. After saying his goodbyes to the others, Billy headed out into the Desert and traveled to Route 13 (North) and searched for a Pokemon that he felt Avalerion could face off against.
OOC: Searching for a mid level Pokemon, come on dice work with me.
Legend Status: Virikas: Northern Ageos, Torching El Ectri City. Hydrix: East-Central Ageos, just off the coast of Route 11. Yakshas: Southeastern Ageos, Roch river_delta.
Josh leaves the group and head out into the desert with Raikou to improve his speed tolerance.
How does it go?
The small Pidgey happily coos as it eats the food then you offer it the opportunity to come with you and it cheerfully accepts.
Congrats you've caught a Pidgey.
What do you do next?
Geoff nodded slowly. "I guess we don't have an option. From what I felt within that pyramid...as I am now, I don't stand a chance. I need to get stronger. All we can do is keep an eye out for each other, and help each other along the way." He said, ruffling Combusken's feathers. "Still, I think we should talk to the professor, and see what he can tell us."
You make your decision to help Magnolia City and Sofia. You hop on Emberlace and head south as quickly as possible but you have to stop and rest on Route 12 (West)...
What do you do next?
OOC: You need to have them learn an evolution trigger before they can evolve.
Having defeated Ashlee, you check the message board. The warning about the Mankeys is still there, and they're still blockading the path north...
What do you do?
The Professors tell you that you head to the Research Lab in Crimson City, its computers are the best in Ageos and they should be able to retrieve your data...
What do you do?
You head southeast to Laurel City, arriving just ahead of the approaching hurricane-force storm...
On your way into the city, you find a Oran Berry, and then train your Pokemon (+1xp) in one of the open areas around the city before the storm hits...
What do you do next?
You train your Pokemon (All +1xp) then head west though the rest of the mines and out on Route 5 (Northeast)...
Once you're there, you start looking for pokemon in the tall grasses of the parire. In no time flat, you find a Zangoose...
What do you do?
OOC: If you're looking for a Squirtle, you should look on the beaches on the southern coast of Avalon Bay. You're going to have to roll really well though.
You train your three pokemon, focusing on Yuki-oona (Sobek and Avalerion +1 xp, Yuki-oona +2xp) Then you head south to ROute 13 (North)...
Once you're there, you start looking for pokemon. In no time flat, you find a Sandshrew...

Beryl scoops the Oran Berry into her pack. Scout's hackles are raised as he senses the incoming rainstorm. With this information, Beryl decides to avoid the storm and turn north into the snowy mountains. She continues to ask any Trainer she meets for information about the Dragoons and where to find them.
When Beryl reaches the center of the plateau, she trains all her Pokemon and looks around for opponents to battle -- either Trainers or Pokemon especially suited to the icy cold.
OOC: Trooper should be at 57 EXP, and is still learning Agility. Also, there's a new minimap update in the OOC Game Discussion thread. After this update's training, Cheeri will level up and begin learning Snore.
ooc: Raptor, if you feel I'm doing anything wrong with Raikou, let me know. Also, feel free to throw some unexpected stuff Josh's way while he's learning, like Pokémon encounters or anything that we normally roll dice for. It'll keep things interesting. This is the first half of phase 1--Josh is going to have to engage in at least five more training sessions with Raikou before being comfortable with his speed and with controlling him.
The desert's winds blew Josh's shirt around. His hair was standing on end not from the Beast of Thunder's static, but from nervousness of it just standing near him. He was in the presence of a mythical creature he had admired since childhood. He knew basically every legend there was about it. And now it was in front of him. {I normally would decline your request, but I feel we have little choice in the matter. We're running out of both time and options.} Raikou paused for a few seconds to let it soak in. {Josh, hop on my back!}
The boy gasped. Raikou was actually going to let him climb on, just like that! He was overcome with joy. Josh tried to climb up Raikou's back, but couldn't muster the strength to pull himself up that far with just his arms. "I can't reach!" he laughed, still unable to contain himself.
{Right...you are rather short, aren't you?} With that, Raikou sat down on its hind legs, its thundercloud flowing with the wind. Josh pulled his leg over its back and sat down on the purple cloud, surprised that the static didn't overwhelm him. It was less noticeable than Saber's, even. Raikou stood up, letting Josh get a feel for just how big the Beast was. Slipping his legs through the cloud itself, it acted like a natural saddle more comfortable and more effective than anything he'd ever put on any of his Pokémon. It also greatly helped aid Josh's balance. {Ready to go, Josh?}
The excited, grinning boy let out a sigh, doing his best to contain his excitement and to act in a mature fashion around Raikou. He slipped the visor on his helmet down to keep the wind out of his face--it'd probably leave friction burns otherwise. "Ready as I'll ever be! Just ease me into it!"
{Alright, Josh! Hold on tight!} Raikou faced east then started backing up slowly. It took a deep breath, sounded a roar as loud as thunder from a nearby lightning strike, then lunged forward into a run. Josh let out a scream from the sudden takeoff, whipping past dozens of wild Cacturne rooted to the ground. Once the two came out of the Cacturne field in much more open dunes, Raikou found a straight path with no obstacles. {Ready to pick up the pace?}
Josh was still breathing heavily from the near-misses with the grass-types as well as the lurch forward. "That wasn't my idea of easing me into it, Raikou!" After fifteen seconds of maintaining their quick pace, he calmed down and started breathing normally again. "Whew! I don't know about that--that was pretty fast already!"
Raikou laughed. {Young one, we've only scraped the surface of what I'm capable of. You'll need to be able to handle every bit of speed I've got by the time we do battle with the serpents. I'm going to run faster, whether you're ready for it or not!}
Raikou's paws became charged with electricity. Every one of its footsteps was accompanied by the sound of crackling sparks as it sped across the desert in a straight line. As it gained speed, the more frequent crackling noises were accompanied by a more rapid running stroke, rocking Josh back and forth faster. Even after exceeding Ixion's speed limit, Raikou bounded forward faster yet. Josh was nearly silent, the only sound he made a grunting noise from resisting the force of the apparent wind inreasing in strength.
Despite Josh's screaming, Raikou continued to speed up in his straight line. Its entire frame, and Josh's too, were both shaking from the sheer power needed to maintain such a running speed. He had heard stories about Raikou's legendary speed, but what he was experiencing blew his mind and pushed him to his physical limits. Just as the electric type dashed past two hundred miles an hour, Josh let out an agonizing scream. "Too fast, Raikou! Slow down!!" he shouted almost as loud as his energy would let him.
{If you want to save Ageos with my help, you're going to need to do better than that! Alright, Josh--I'll let you adjust to this kind of speed.} Raikou finally stopped accelerating but maintained its incredible rate of speed, already faster than even the swiftest land-bound Pokémon known to man.
Josh's hair stood on end for a while, still trying to get used to the crackling noises accompanying Raikou's footfalls. As the Beast maintained the speed longer, Josh started to calm down, his heart not thumping so hard anymore. He relaxed a bit...and let out a cry like he was in heaven. "Yeeeeee-haaaaa!!!" he shouted, despite Raikou merely running in a straight line.
Raikou slowed down to a still-brisk pace to allow Josh to recover his senses, quickly approaching the Ranger station once more. {You're not bad, Josh,} the Beast said, admiring his progress.
Josh was still dizzy from the insane speed. Not even needing him to say anything, Raikou knew Josh was getting tired. It dropped him off at the Station and let him rest, keeping an eye on him to make sure he was okay after going so fast. "Do you care if I call you Swift?" he weakly asked Raikou. After catching his breath, he looked around the Ranger station to see if any of the healing facilities were functional. If so, he would get his team healed.
for anything interesting happening during or after the ride if Raptor so chooses.
With the assistance of her pokemon and the pokedex, Kira figures out what moves her pokemon should learn next. Finn will train towards Mud-Shot, Aare (the pidgey) will train towards Gust.
After a short training session to get a feel for commanding pokemon in fights again, Kira recalls her team. 'Okay, let's explore this region a bit!'
She wanders west towards Route 1, keeping her eyes open for wild pokemon.
Feelix's barrage of rocks sent the Zangoose packing.
YOU WON!
Feelix gained 5 exp.
Frizz will lead his team south and south again, coming to Route 4, or at least the grassier edge of it. Scymon and Tuffie seemed quite at home, while Feelix looked a little disappointed to be so far away from his precious rocky element. Frizz pats him on the his stone back and assures him he's going to love the badlands.
Frizz and team will look for wishlist pokémon once more!
[spoiler=Currently=You make your decision to help Magnolia City and Sofia. You hop on Emberlace and head south as quickly as possible but you have to stop and rest on Route 12 (West)...
What do you do next?[/spoiler]
The pair stopped for a breather, Nicolette looking around for a while until Emberlace was ready to continue. They had covered a lot of ground, but there was still more to go.
Derick had rushed out as quickly as he could, shocked about everything that just happened, though he did his best to record the beasts on his PokeTool.

Upon meeting Hiker Theodore, Beryl asks him if he knows anything about the "Dragoons" and where to find them. She also asks him for a friendly battle.
---
After the battle, Beryl will continue on to Laurel City, heal her Pokemon at the Pokemon Center, buy some new clothes and get a haircut (-50 P), then train all her Pokemon and look for items.

OOC: Searching for a mid level Pokemon, come on dice work with me.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
Virikas: Northern Ageos, Torching El Ectri City.

C'mon, Swinub...

The desert's winds blew Josh's shirt around. His hair was standing on end not from the Beast of Thunder's static, but from nervousness of it just standing near him. He was in the presence of a mythical creature he had admired since childhood. He knew basically every legend there was about it. And now it was in front of him. {I normally would decline your request, but I feel we have little choice in the matter. We're running out of both time and options.} Raikou paused for a few seconds to let it soak in. {Josh, hop on my back!}
The boy gasped. Raikou was actually going to let him climb on, just like that! He was overcome with joy. Josh tried to climb up Raikou's back, but couldn't muster the strength to pull himself up that far with just his arms. "I can't reach!" he laughed, still unable to contain himself.
{Right...you are rather short, aren't you?} With that, Raikou sat down on its hind legs, its thundercloud flowing with the wind. Josh pulled his leg over its back and sat down on the purple cloud, surprised that the static didn't overwhelm him. It was less noticeable than Saber's, even. Raikou stood up, letting Josh get a feel for just how big the Beast was. Slipping his legs through the cloud itself, it acted like a natural saddle more comfortable and more effective than anything he'd ever put on any of his Pokémon. It also greatly helped aid Josh's balance. {Ready to go, Josh?}
{Alright, Josh! Hold on tight!} Raikou faced east then started backing up slowly. It took a deep breath, sounded a roar as loud as thunder from a nearby lightning strike, then lunged forward into a run. Josh let out a scream from the sudden takeoff, whipping past dozens of wild Cacturne rooted to the ground. Once the two came out of the Cacturne field in much more open dunes, Raikou found a straight path with no obstacles. {Ready to pick up the pace?}
Raikou laughed. {Young one, we've only scraped the surface of what I'm capable of. You'll need to be able to handle every bit of speed I've got by the time we do battle with the serpents. I'm going to run faster, whether you're ready for it or not!}
Raikou's paws became charged with electricity.

The pair stopped for a breather, Nicolette looking around for a while until Emberlace was ready to continue. They had covered a lot of ground, but there was still more to go.
