High tide was near, and the Hero of Hoardson was finishing preparations for its coming voyage. Its deck was relatively crowded for a galley, as busy as a warship, with faces representing various Elexian factions and an impressive range of social class. Darragh stood at the helm, together with the ship's captain and a select few other individuals
The captain was a young Oscaran of questionable experience, and his looks betrayed the culture of his people. His hair was long and wild, his skin more tan than typical and lacking the scars one would expect to see on an Oscaran. "Elexia's good for crowds. Always easy to find a party here."
"I heard one of the elven nobles snapped and went a murdering spree."
The galley's deck was long and open, with a raised deck on either end. A door below the deck at the bow led to sleeping quarters for those needing rest. A similar door at the stern was kept locked.
The crew began raising anchor and unfurl the sails.
Odd - There wouldn't have been more than two deaths if that were the case. Any number of the survivors would have put a stop to something so simple before it got so far out of hand. There were more powerful forces involved in what happened there than a noble losing their mind.
How someone could miss the scaly demon armed man even in a crowd seemed strange, but nevertheless Snakeitsu seemed to have materialized next to Odd just as Falthor disappeared.
Snake - "How long can we expect to be on the water captain?"
"Depends on the winds. I'd like to say it wouldn't be more than a day, but if the winds aren't blowing there's only so fast we can travel by rowing with so many men aboard."
The first mate, a tan block of muscle standing near seven feet tall and hairy as a bear, spat and declared, "hope so. If I gotta break some bones, I'd rather break them with a deck beneath my feet."
Darragh dismissed the idea with a wave. "Don't be ridiculous. The ship belongs to Vernon Daster. He was kind enough to lend this operation a galley and we will do our best to keep it from suffering any harm so that we may return it to him in optimal condition."
The captain and first mate exchanged a displeased look.
Falthor- Quite a crowd you've got here.
The Kindir walked up to Falthor and the Oscaran. Dracanis stood beside him, his fur raised in apprehension of the large crowd of people.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
He nodded to the dracon.
Odd placed his hand upon Dracanis's head to calm him.

Nervada - 98% fat free, high in fiber.

Falthor- Nasty business, that.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
Falthor reached to his belt and slipped a hand round the yellow silk of Carnwennan, he faded out of sight.

Go ahead and run, you'll only die tired.

Snake - "Do we need to be prepared for the possibility of pirates on the way?"

The captain and the first mate exchanged another look.
Snake - "Just that I spoke to some friends as I said that I would. It seems that there has been quite a bit of traffic. Strictly under the table."

Falthor- Anything more specific than 'quite a bit of traffic' for us to work with?
Snake - "Plenty of smuggling. There are several different factions. I could point out what ports are likely to be dangerous if I had a map."
