My classes are going to start come next week. I don't foresee it affecting my ability to play, but it may slow down my ability to bring the new Planes up. I plan to start with Lorwyn as it is the oldest of the three. While no central/neutral city/hub exists for any of the new Planes, we will be using one for ease of use. Lorwyn will be broken up by the major tribes, and possibly further by Lorwyn and Shadowmoor lines. Innistrad and Alara will be broken up by location.
You guys may not recall my original name but I'll link you to both my original account and my original MTG RPG character, though it seems there's an entirely new system going on here.....
Link was intentional as I see that Qfx is still part of this and he may very well recall me. I'm trying to get access to my original account, but I forgot my email for it
Is there a helpful thread to show me how this one works? I may be interested.
Also bear in mind that I haven't played paper Magic in three years or so.
I think you could just look at the Rules and announcements thread, but if that doesn't help, either PM the WPLs, or look at the quests going on, or both.

I think I'll do that, because if so, I'll probably recreate the character I once had......because she was pretty awesome.
Thank you. ^^ and hopefully I'll be back on my real account soon.
Not so ninja edit:
Okay, I'm gonna assume (yeah we all know what that does) that since my orignal character got deleted due to inactivity that New Game Plus does not apply to me. That's 100% fine, as from what I skimmed of the new rules I could almost recreate her dead-on using the new rules as it is. (Minus the really good spells, of course. :P)
What I wish to know is these things, of course contingent upon the WPLs agreement and me gaining access to my original account for veracity's sake...
-Her "weapon" was, uh, a saproling, in effect. Mainly a roleplaying device, but occasionally useful, as she was unsuited for physical combat.
-Her background, as a half Lorwyn elf. The quest I disappeared from was the original Shadowmoor unlock, and as far as I know I wasn't killed off, but instead carted back to town. Not sure if that would count, but hey?
If anyone looks at this, perhaps someone could let me know the particulars? Thanks ^^
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

I suppose it's true. Though the logistics implied in a human/Great Wyrm Prismatic Dragon pairing makes me shudder.
...Something tells me that even should all arcane casters in the world unite, that the Grease spell would NOT be sufficient.

Umm, it's either I joined after the reboot or I'm just dense. Likely both. But from what I'm deciphering, this is more of the stuff you talk to the WPLs. Although I like that saproling weapon thing, mind if I use something akin to it on one of the new planes when they get up? If the WPLs allow such a thing?

I don't see a reason why a character couldn't use a saproling as a weapon as long as the saproling had all the qualities of a regular weapon or was modified by the Weapon Training trait. As you said, it's just a nifty roleplaying device that doubles as a way for her to avoid getting her hands dirty.
I believe characters can be from any plane. However, as Lorwyn is currently not unlocked and its spells can't be in starting satchels, I think your character could not in any way obtain spells from that plane just yet.

Also, Lorwyn/Shadowmoor should be unlocked.
Most planes are unlocked, with the exception of the third set of each plane. For example, it's hard to have Eldrazi if they're not released.
Is M15 available in this game yet? The other RPG I'm in has been slow for awhile and I'm brewing up an idea for a spirit summoner on Innistrad.
ETA: Recording for posterity.
Name: Gavin (no last name)
Species: Human
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 140
Appearance: Gavin is an albino with reddish-pink eyes and long white hair running down his back. He wears a wide-brimmed hat and coat, long pants, gloves, and boots in as drab colors as possible, as much to avoid notice from passersby as to guard against the chill Innistrad air. He carries himself quietly and with a slight stoop, avoiding making eye contact with others.
Background: As a baby, Gavin was abandoned on the doorstep of a church where he was found by a kindly old priest. Despite his frightening appearance, the clergy of the church welcomed him, raising Gavin as their own and giving him the attic of the church to live. In return, the young boy helped the priests in secret, ringing the bells, scrubbing the pews, and driving off more than one would-be-thief of the offering box.
As Gavin grew, his instruction in Avacynian faith magic deepened, as did his sensitivity to the realm of the dead. As a teenager, he claimed that he could see geists that were imperceptible to even the old priest. While the benevolent spirits haunting the attic eventually went from a nervewracking, unseen force to a familiar comfort, darker spirits began to penetrate the edges of his senses -- restless souls, deprived forever of the Blessed Sleep, seeking to inflict on others the agony of their own violent, violative death. Thus a battle of wills ensued. Gavin began making nightly trips to the local cemetery to seek out sources of black magic, understand their uses, and harness them to protect himself and the few people who knew of his existence.
His growing fascination with demonic energies could not be kept a secret forever, and the rumors which had started with only a handful of ne'er-do-well's were soon spreading through the good folk of the town. Gavin could see the weariness in the old priest's eyes as intrusive queries mounted day after day.
His life as he knew it came to an abrupt end on the 1st of the Harvest Moon. Gavin was watching a service from the rafters when he sighted a burning hole in the roof, followed by a torch-carrying devil apparently intent on spreading havoc. On instinct, the young man drew his blessed silver dagger and flicked it lightly through the air toward the devil. Devil and torch, both snuffed, fell to the ground of the church, sliced in two as if with a blade made of darkness itself. Horrified gasps rose from the assembled townsfolk, soon dissolving into panic. Gavin retreated to his attic as the priests attempted to calm the congregation long enough to finish the service.
That night, Gavin heard a thump outside the door of his attic room. Laying there was a bag packed with a change of clothes, enough provisions to last several weeks, and a note that read simply: I will miss you. Avacyn bless. Tucking his spell satchel into the bag and smiling at the old priest's forethought, Gavin headed out into the light of a blood-red moon to wander the world, hone his skills, and ultimately defend humanity -- that is to say, whatever small portion of humanity would consider him to be on their side.

But yes, basically the saproling was the equivalent of a dagger in many ways, except it liked to sneeze at red and blue users.

I'm well aware. The ban still stops Arcane Research from obtaining anything from those planes, though.
Everything should be fine with the WPLs, then.

With the porting of a character, are we allowed to reinvent the character completely?
Regardless, it may be difficult to get spells from Theros, especially given that we haven't crafted a subforum for it yet.
I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, assuming you mean what I think you mean.
