It's scary. In paper magic, it's crap. But in the RPG, it lets you discard any five cards from your satchel at will. Combine that with something like Patriarch's Bidding, Zombify, or Cabal Ritual, and you've got a very dangerous card.
Plus, since Entomb is banned, this should be as well. It's basically the same card, but 5x better.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
I agree about Entomb, but I think it should be restricted. But One with Nothing can break open a game on the second turn. Threshold, reanimation, flashback, madness, ect. All shattered wide open by discarding 5 cards.

I don't think it has to be banned. If someone plays Wit's End, the opponent's hand is randomly chosen. Just because you are discarding your own hand, it should be no different.

They love and hate to see me walk through the door. I'm the man with the box, one to carry all his Standard cards with him. I've got the commons and uncommons they need. But I've also got my decks. If I walk into FNM, I came to play. And they never know what I'm gonna pull out of my hat next. I may lose more than I win, but it just might be THIS deck that has all the answers that they don't have answers for. They fear the unknown. They fear me. And they never see me coming!
And with discard, you get to choose what cards you discard, so would the opponent.
Random discard and mill are the only ones which cause dice rolling for random cards.
On the second turn you can have up to 5 dangerous creatures under your control with One with Nothing + Cabal Ritual + Patriarch's Bidding. But putting 5 cards in your graveyard is a bad thing if your satchel is designed for it.

I think that chill Perish boil Flashfires Boiling Seas should be banned. they will just house entire colors, and since most mages are a single color, they get housed. for example, if i played chill v. a mono red mage, could they win? unlikely. If I missed any, please tell me. I think they should all be banned.

Time flys like an arrow. Fruit flys like a banana.
Okay here is the thing. By the time that most mages have access to Chill they will be in the legacy levels, unless they managed to aquire it earlier than that. By that time having access to color hosers on that scale is NOT a big deal. This is also true of Perish.
On the other hand, Boil, Flashfires, and Boiling Sea's are all available to Red Mages at level 1 or level 2 assuming they spend the money or earn it via a quest, in theory. The thing to keep in mind here however is that they hose Red's enemy colors. And two of them hose Islands, which is NOT a bad thing in my opinion.
Hosing Plains on the other hand is something I am not fond of, but seeing as how it takes 4 turns, or massive investment in mana acceleration to pull off such a hosing (4 turns being the optimal choice), I am not as worried by such a thing. There are of course ways around such a strategy

Chill is Legacy. Any character that has that is formidable enough anyways without having to worry about that spell.
Perish...it's a mass kill when the player has easier access to Damnation, which is more effective, albeit for one mana more. And green can always make more creatures.
Boil/Boiling Seas/Flashfires...this is RED we're talking about. If a player seriously thinks that 3 mana is better served to take out lands, then whatever...and don't forget...it's just Islands/Plains...not Blue/White mana producing lands. We give players access to Nonbasics for a reason.

all 3 of those spells cost 4 mana if I am not mistaken. And yes, it is just plains and islands that are affected and in an environment where we all have infinite access to basic lands, that is not a huge loss.

I guess your right. But if red can buy those early, shouldn't black be allowed to buy perish early?
no, not really... A black player can theoretically purchase damnation as soon as they have access to around 180 gold (sometimes less if the card is in stock at Lyre's Bazaar). Why would they want Perish when Damnation is far more versatile for one extra mana? the only advantage I could see for Perish over Damnation is that Perish is one sided. And there are other forms of mass removal available to black that are just as one sided (albeit more expensive mass removals).
what about Dread of Night? just found it. will Lyre's Bazaar sell it, like they sell Boiling Seas? personally, i would love to use it, but it hurts white alot.
I'm not trying to troll, but i really would like to know if this might be on sale. and, as im starting to see, they aren't as good as i first thought.
never mind. I realized it was the same as chill, but worse.

it doesn't hurt white as badly as you may think, considering many white creatures these days are NOT weenies as much as you might think.
And I can't see Lyre's obtaining a copy of that card considering that it is a legacy card and Lyre's to my knowledge does not carry legacy cards at the current time.
