Erin's eyes screw up in pain as she feels the thing in her mind. Her mouth opens, as if she was going to cry out, but there's no sound. Curling up into a ball for just a moment. And then the pain's gone. But she can tell that some of her friends won't be coming out to play.
She looks a little upset. And her eyes wander for a moment as she absentmindedly starts tossing a second ball of mana in the air. Her eyes latch onto the Avatar of Woe. Given a little time, she'll make sure that those destroy thi-- Wait. She looks at Kennar. Then grins. Almost evilly. She watches as he starts to cast. And she follows his movements.
When the Blaze starts to escape his hand, she winds up like a baseball pitcher and flings her two balls of mana at his spell. They rebound off of it back to her own. And then she puts her weight behind this newer, and rather larger, spell. Pushing it forwards towards the orb.
Twincasting Blaze, targeting the orb. Take 11 more.
Tai grunted in pain as the orb's dark power lanced into his mind. Concerned by the orb's new ally, Tai found himself reevaluating his strategy. Again. Well, Plan D is still a plan, I suppose... He said with a grim smile. His aura glowed a brilliant white once more, and with a wave of his hand, three hawks swooped from the heavens, to his side. Holding his shield at the ready, Tai braced for whatever may come.
Mar is not a stranger to madness, but he is also not a stranger to ignoring unwanted feelings - and the effects of the Orb's madness are contained quickly enough, though not without sacrifice.
But Mar perseveres, and though he reacts too late to aid against the goblins he is not discomforted enough to not increase his ring of lands, nor enough to not respond to the notice of attack - even though it is clearly not meant for him. "In a few minutes more, perhaps."
And then he sees the twin streams directed towards it, and feels a momentary feeling of ... something that is almost unease.
And thus he subtly shifts, bracing himself against whatever the Orb should leave behind when it's lights fade.
The twin fiery infernos and the smaller lance of flame from Zalara burn the area around the orb; waves of heat shimmer off the blackened and scorched earth.
The light of the orb fades, until it's a simple transparent sphere floating in the rubble of the destroyed House Shimia. Then, after a moment or two, a small crack appears on its flawless surface. The crack slowly runs all the way around the orb. Suddenly, a delicate webwork of fractures cover the orb, as though it were a window hit with a rock.
The orb shatters into nothing with a surprisingly loud crunching sound. At the same time, its three summoned goblins simply turn to ash and crumble.
An unnatural silence falls on the scene as the orb is finally destroyed. No wind, no birds, nothing but the heavy breathing of the gathered mages.

OOC: This is the end of the orb battle talked about here right?
As the ship nears the harbor, Deth sees an explosion radiating out from near house Shimia, and as it gets closer he sees flashes of mana in the same area. Worried about his house being attacked, he calls upon his connection with magic born of the swamps, and brings a barely visible aura around him.
When the ships finally arrives at Estark, he immeaditly sprints down the gangplank, shoving sailers out of his was in order to learn more about his situation, and if needed, defend the nobel House Shimia.
As he reaches the square, however, he sees the ruins of his house, surrounded by mages of all allegiances, even some of his housemates. Or former housemates apparently.
Deth tries to discretely move back, and attempts to gain more information, even knowing his entrance was probably noticed, and he may have gained the attention of powerful mages, mostly likely hostile judging by the ruins they surround.

Time flys like an arrow. Fruit flys like a banana.
As the orb shattered to pieces, Flame-Tongue released the the breath he hadn't even realized he was holding. The focus of his reptilian eyes shifted, darting between the bizarre assortment of mages assembled by the rubble. Here and there were his new housemates, and those members of the fallen house. Warily, he shifted his body from the overly agressive stance he had adopted, taking on a less rigid posture.
Kennar sighs in relief as the orb is destroyed. His head turns as Tai speaks. After a moment, he also spots the figure standing just outside the square, trying to slink back into the shadows.
The flamekin draws his sword, sending waves of heat from his body into the blade until it glows dull orange. "Identify yourself," Kennar shouts. "Are you a mage of one of the Houses?"

Erin relaxes. A little. The orb done, now she's got little to-- Hello there. She continues to juggle some orbs of mana. And when she sees the rather... Hostile responses of her fellow mages, she swiftly moves to stand in front of Tai. And facing him, too. Calm down!
Tai, less concerned with the approaching mage, approaches the debris. "I am fine, thank you. Hold him at bay until we're certain the danger has passed." He said absently. His senses were reaching trying to find the source of...whatever just happened.
OC: The "Stay Back" wasn't meant as hostile, more just warning him to keep a safe distance. The tone should reflect it. Sorry.
Kennar glances over at Erin, standing in front of Tai and trying to keep the peace. "We don't know who he is. He might have been watching the whole battle. Might have even been involved in Shimia's destruction. That orb wasn't intelligent. It didn't try to flee when we started overpowering it. Just floated there while we attacked. That means someone else either sent it to destroy Shimia, or left it to kill anyone who was poking around. Which means we can't be polite to every stranger who might have been watching the fight without getting involved who then tried to leave when it was over."

Unfamiliar with the elemental's kind, the viashino still found himself impressed by the blaze he had unleashed so soon after having his connection to the layline severed. Yes, this being would be a good one to watch, he thought, as he slowly moved to position himself at the side of the Rakdos-aligned flamekin.
"I see you've learned a new trick since I last saw you," Cyouni calls over to Kennar.
The appearance of the black-haired and cloaked man doesn't make Cyouni feel any better, however, especially when the man immediately attempts to keep his distance from the group. Stretching out his hand, the mage brings another one of the flaming swords forth.
"I'm not planning on taking a chance. If he's a threat, he's going down."
The undead mage looks back at the others and then back to the orb now cracked and depleted of magic. Approaching the fallen orb, he begins to inspect it to see what had been happening in his absence.
((OOC: Is it OK to join this thread now that that battle appears to be over?))
A figure approaches from far down the street. He appears to be looking for something... a building, perhaps. When he approaches, the total cover of the shrouding clothes he wears prevent anyone from seeing his face. He approaches the mages near the rubble. "Excuse me, I don't mean to intrude. I was told the house of black mages could be found near here. Could you direct me to it?"
Deth, realizing that not only are the mages more numerous then he, more individually powerful then he, they are gifted with basic skills of observation, and common sense.
He lets his aura, the physical representation of his connection with the swamps die away, in hopefully a nonthreatening manner.
Hearing the shout to back away, and seeing weapons drawn, he holds up his hands, and stops retreating.
"I mean no harm to anyone" Deth shouts "I was only checking on an explosion I heard while near port, and planning to offer aid to those who may have been caught in the blast. I assume it was this council that caused it?" Hoping that complimenting their power will make them more amicable
Deth pauses for a moment, consider declaring his allegiance to Shimia, and tell the mages of his quest in its name, but realizing they may very well have destroyed Shimia, holds his tongue. Even though they say things that make it appear they have fought for in defence of his house,
"Rest assured I did not destroy the Noble House Shimia. I have just returned from a quest, and have had little to no contact with the world. I only saw the explosion and came to investigate."
"This... rubble? This is the house I seek?" The newcomer moves his head as his vision sweeps over it. "It seems it's a bit late to try to pledge my allegiance."
His vision comes to the undead mage, and he flinches. "And it seems that masked figures like myself would have fit right in. My name is Olid. Olid Turgun. You are?" He extends his gloved hand in greeting.
Kennar smiles a little at Cyouni. "More than one new trick," he says as he turns to the rubble of the destroyed House. He'll let the weaker mages deal with the newcomers. The stronger mages might as well investigate the rubble.
He steps up near Tai. After observing the more powerful mage for a moment, Kennar also extends his magical senses into the rubble. On the ground, slight ripples of insubstantial and almost-invisible fire and shadow pulse out from the flamekin, as he sends his mana to sense any lingering effects. "I doubt you'll sense anything," Kennar says politely. The man was obviously very powerful. Better to give him respect than to get on his bad side. "At least not as well as I might. That orb was channeling red and black mana. I think my senses will be more in tune to whatever magic might be left over here."

"Xerion." he replied, shaking hands back. "Unless the heads of the house are still around, I have no clue on what happened here, or how to sign up." he continued. "Not to mention I was out waiting for a job at the tavern before all this happend."
