Immediately his hand was flying towards the pad to take Gear's place while his other hand remained attached to the mana battery set up.
As Gear's paw withdrew he felt a twisting in his guts as the vacuum pull of the artifact vanished leaving him with an echo and a plethora of mana at his fingertips.
In the second it took Dannin to replace Gear, the portal had flickered and looked as though it would not remain stable and open. But just as quickly, Dannin's new connection stabilized the portal. Through gritted teeth Dannin said, "This is not pleasant at all! The batteries will not hold out much longer!"
Gear felt his body warp and stretch in every direction including inward as his vision went white and the world silent. Gear's mind told him that only a few seconds could have passed, but to him the sensation of hanging in suspension seemed to last for eternity before he was finally thrown out on the other side...

All at once Gear makes a giant leap for the portal. Hopefully this wouldn't be something he would regret.
