Jor grinned like a devil as he posed his next question, "And suppose something greater than the Wurms takes their place? Something that completely annihilates the village. What would the ripple effect on mana be in that case?"
"However if you were to twist my arm on the subject, I would hazard that the green mana might grow slightly if the town were to be destroyed by something worse than the Wurms. Perhaps though, if possible, the town people could be convinced to just move to another location. I doubt that though as they obviously dont' want to be moved if they have to post a bounty to get rid of the problem in the first place. However there is nothing saying they can't be convinced afterwards that there are worst things in the forest..."
David stopped in his tracks when an idea suddenly dawned on him. "Jor do any Elves live in the woods nearby?"
"The Elves themselves would be able to safeguard the forest from being destroyed by the villagers. They could also in theory be able to help keep the Wurms at bay, be able to steer the Wurms on a different migration pattern, or possibly show the villagers a different area to stay that is out of the way of the Wurms and could potentially allow them to expand their village safely if they wanted to. However if you do not know and I don't know if there are than this idea is nothing more than a flight of fancy."
David snapped his fingers in disappointment and started thinking once again. If there were elves in the forest than how would he get their attention? Burning a few trees would be counter productive and on top of that would be too much of a risk to himself. Find a messenger? They were too far down the road from Estark to turn back for a small gamble. Thats when it hit him, Jor had mentioned that there were elves that could tap into the various other colors even in the forest. Standing still he closed his eyes and started to concentrate on finding a red leyline in the forest. The common thing all Elves had was passion for the forest, and passion itself is a trait of red mana. He just needed to concentrate and hope for the best...
I get the impression that you are trying to develop your character as a type of empath, a being capable of experiencing the emotions of others as their own. Is this a direction you're wanting to take your character?
Also recall that Jor simply mentioned elves were able to be mana sources for the forests rather easily, as with Llanowar Elves. He never actually said their were elves that channel red mana.
David's concentration was immediately broken by Jor asking, "Do you plan on standing in the middle of the road all day with your eyes closed? Some people might think your sanity is slipping if you do that."
"What answers were you trying to discover by closing your eyes and standing still?" asked Jor rather puzzled. "Shouldn't you go looking into someplace to find your answers instead of closing your eyes?"
"I just...have a strange way of sensing mana...Unfortunately I haven't quite figured out how to do it without having to close my eyes and standing still. Where would you suggest we go to find the elves then that is within a close enough distance of walking?"
Jor smiled mischievously saying, "I would think they would find us if we were to go walking into their forests uninvited. That's assuming there are elves in these southern forests.
(Glad to have you back from your hiatus, hope life wasn't too rough on you. I know what having non stop class work is like. Sorry for bugging to see if you were around.)
"Hmm, are you willing to see what would happen if we try to enter the forest then?"
Sorry, for the inactivity. As I've said before, nonstop class work and prior commitments are eating into my spare time and thus hitting the project.
"Oh, I'm all for the adventure." replied Jor. Then with a mischievous smile he added, "So long as you don't try chasing down women going about their business..."
There was once [The Pack], but no more.
Jor returned to puffing on his pipe, the mood had suddenly seemed to go sour with the man.
David stopped in his tracks when an idea suddenly dawned on him. "Jor do any Elves live in the woods nearby?"
There was once [The Pack], but no more.
He glanced back at David tapping the tobacco out of his pipe and smothering the ashes then said, "Why do you ask?"

@Jor comment: Ooohhh yeah your right. Damn.
"Worth a shot at trying to find out some answers." David said shaking his head.
"Sorry about that, let us continue on."

"I'm guessing we should walk into the forest then?" He said turning into the direction of the forest itself."
There was once [The Pack], but no more.
Jor posed in a dramatic thought saying, "Or we could sprint trampling all the foliage. Or hop. Or bounce. Or skip."
Jor's grin flashed again as he stepped up behind David saying, "Yes, walking into the forest seems quite appropriate."
"If we get attacked by the Elves you'll make a great shield for their arrows." He said with a wink to Jor.
