Name: Sir Josh of Silverleaf
Race: Human
Appearence:
Hair - Brown, Short
Eyes - Blue
Skin - White
Josh wears a short, green cape with a matching-colored breastplate hand-forged of a light metal. Most of the rest of his frame is covered in armor glinting a bright white in the sun. A tree-shaped signet is etched onto the center of the breastplace as well as all four major joints of the protective suit. When not in his armorsuit, he wears a more traditional Silverleaf garb, though very similar in color to his combat gear.
Age: 21
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 212 lbs
Personality/History: An idealist to the core, Josh's first eighteen years were very much sheltered from the world's adversities, calamities, and troubles. When he became of age, Josh left his home and became intensely interested in the art of summoning and forging a bond with creatures of the wild. After his grueling training was complete, he felt accomplished to be able to travel alongside a forest beast of his own. It was a dire white wolf by the name of Sky, named so because its fur was the color of clouds in a summer sky.
After dabbling in summoning other creatures that were equally fleet of foot, Josh's interest in the matter boiled down to one reason: he loved riding. Whether to let any of his beasts go on the hunt or just to have a good time, he loved the feeling of a running creature between his legs. To him, every new animal he forged a bond with was a new experience.
About a year later, Josh's studies into summoning arts intertwined with Silverleaf's military. There, he thought--there was an opportunity to showcase his riding skills and make himself useful! After presenting the idea to one of the wyvern captains, one of the things he had been sheltered from hit hard--complete rejection. To the Silverleaf military, melee mounted combat is nowhere near as effective as ranged mounted combat, and the added power is nowhere near worth the added risk to the rider. He pleaded with them, showing them techniques he had come up with on his own, but to no avail. To the captain, Josh's style put the rider in far too much danger. Dismayed, he left Silverleaf with Sky in search for clues--and found White Gate.
The Eighth Knighthood of White Gate welcomed the wolf rider with open arms, happy to see a convert from the "nature-worshipping cult" they seemed to have all kinds of trouble recruiting from. And what a powerful ally he would be too--a summoner could give the Knighthood an unprecedented advantage with something as swift as a white wolf. What the Knighthood didn't know is Josh had other plans. He wanted to spend time in White Gate learning the finer points of mounted combat, then return to Silverleaf with verdant blade in hand and show the wyvern captains the importance of a strong ground force.
Weaponry: Josh wields a verdant sword crafted by a local forgemaster specifically to be easy to use while riding any kind of beast.
Skills/Flaws:
Beastmaster(You tune your soul to that of the beast, allowing a bond to form. In a fight, it will not attack you, outside of a fight you gain temporary special skills based on the beast and the situation)
Tree Hugger(When not in the company of fresh vegetation, you agitate easily and become rather ornery.)
Idealist(Your extremely positive outlook on even the most bleak of situations can blind you to the truth.)
Mounted Combat- Melee (This character is more skilled with melee weapons when riding a mount)
Beasts Summons [Rideable Wolf, Adult Falcon](This character can summon a variety of animals to aid him in his quests)
Name: Julian Ryuson Age: 23 years Gender: Male Plane: Evangelia Race: Human of Spellsnare Eyes: gray/blue Hair:
dark brown, long and straight, cut to mid back
kept in a ponytail
gathered low at the neck with a short black ribbon tied in a square knot
unkempt bangs
[now that i think about it, it's very similar to Kenshin from Samurai X]
Clothes:
Blood red long Chinese style dress shirt [see attached for all but hair pretty much]
black jeans with braided black belt with the excess tucked into his left hand pocket.
black low-cut leather boots with iron toes.
wears a simple silver necklace [collarbone length, nothing gangsta]
What i mean by blade positions:
normally: held with the blade on the side of the thumb facing facing downward if the arm is extended
reversed: held with the blade on the side of the thumb facing facing upward if the arm is extended
this is usually a bad idea and is used mostly in vertical upward slices for reach
horizontal slashes would most likely end in the user being in more danger from their own blade
unless this is used to strike with the back of the blade so as to bruise/knock unconscious
underhand: held with the blade on the pinky side facing away from the arm
Skills:
Magical Aptitude (If you're a mage, your spells are more potent then those without Magical Aptitude. This does NOT affect your Soul Blade spells.)
Magical Weapon Focus [Sword Play](this character can summon a magical sword to aid him in battle and with effort can wield it with great ease)
Firebolt (The character shoots a small arrow of flame at the enemy from a hand)
Shadow Wings(Using extreme concentration, the character summons a pair of shadowy wings that grant him flight for a very short amount of time.)
Contingency (This character adapts to varying situations with ease and formulates plans easily when under pressure)
Equipment:
Flame Retardant clothes. It makes sense for a beginner mage to not light his clothes on fire. Though it's a miracle he still has long hair...
Personality:
Julian is a fairly easy going, but quiet guy. He tends to keep to himself unless it seems in his better interests to work with another. When using blades, he prefers to summon a pair of tangs. He also prefers to be on the winning side of a battle, but will sometimes choose to stay on the side of an ally he particularly likes. He isn't always considered to be sane though he doesn't care what other people think of him. As a result of a long journey alone, Julian tends to mutter to himself [and answer his own questions when asking himself something].
While not shy at all, Julian is reserved and will usually asses the situation in its entirety before acting, though sometimes he has to think on his feet and stops after the first 5 steps of 3 different plans. This usually leads people to say he is quiet and goes with the flow, considering they even remember a person who sticks to themselves and out of the way. Though the people at any local tea shop would probably know him by name and order.
While not acted upon by outside forces, Julian's life has settled into a predictable, comfortable routine. If given a particular day of the week and time, he is pretty sure he can tell you exactly where he'll be, if not what precisely he'd be doing. Though Julian has an uneasy sense that this is going to change very soon.
Background:
Julian grew up on the island a child of two talented mages, who decided to teach him the school they specialized in, resulting in him learning both, but not focusing on either. His mother taught him shadow magic. In learning to control the shadows he conjured he was taught to fight with light blades [especially light since they're made of shadow]. However in longer fights he will lose his focus and mana and be stuck with his wit. His father taught him the concepts and theories of fire magic, but left it to Julian to teach himself the practical applications.
One day around the age of 19, before he could be completely trained in either school of magic, Julian was framed for a murder which he was a witness to. He was given the option to be put to death quickly or to be left to cope with the leviathans lurking of the shores of the island. Julian chose the water and slowly made his way flying to the main land, though he could not fly the whole way and it took him great effort and mental strain to find another island to make a raft on. Eventually he made his way to the city.
Since Julian moved to the city, he works at a junk yard flying things to the tops of piles and helping pickers retrieve items. However because of the amount of mana and focus it takes he only works a few hours a day and thus barely scrapes by. He firmly believes the Blue Dragon of Origin watches over him as he made the arduous journey to the city and can still draw mana as though he was on the island. He does not know whether he will try kill or thank the man who framed him for murder, should he meet him.
TL;DR Mage: Fire and Shadow magics, prefers tangs when summoning shadow swords. Thinks on his feet. Keeps to himself unless beneficial not to.
As usual, you create an interesting character. Approved.
Everyone: I'm currently in the process of PM'ing Nai and Yukora about getting approved for DM'ing in PnP Inn. This will help now and for future reference. If I hear nothing by Friday I may start up the campaign in the Colosseum general, though I would much prefer to start it here in the PnP Inn. All character that are NOT approved by the time the campaign has started will not be in the initial start, but will be warped in via storyline reasons at their appropriate times. Sorry for the inconvenience, didn't think it would take this long to get the ball rolling.
I said prefers, there's also rapiers and European style swords, there's just the want to use a style I am fond of in an RP. Also technically [based on the picture] those are American blades... with Japanese kanji... the wedge shape is an American cut. Japanese blades have a curve to the point. Also, tangs are lighter weight than a similar length wakizashi or tanto or such.
Also... haha long bowmen... meet flying mage with rapid shot fireballs that are currently tiny bolts, that is only good in combat for like.. hmm... RUNNNNN!!! lol
PS: I had to add the word "mage" to the damned spell check library... wtf...
EDIT: also, this cane is going to be something i will probably be adept with by the time im 30... assuming my knee doesnt completely give out by then...
Can I make the amused observation that every single male character, aside from the shut-in Earth human, is using some kind of Japanese* sword?
I can't wait until we go up against a mountaintop swarming with longbowmen. We're all going to be slaughtered horribly.
*Aside from Josh - I imagine it's more in the Western style - but "knightly" is close enough.
If we're running into a group of Longbowmen then we did something wrong in the first place.
Also Jen this Shut-In Earthling is using a type of Katana. So yes, every male character in this RPG is using a Japanese sword. What haven't you seen Highlander?

Yes, I can imagine..."All our foes must loudly announce their presence, then charge us with melee weapons across flat ground. Preferably one at a time. That's the honorable Samurai's way!"
If we get lucky one of the remaining people will take up archery! >_>;
Ironically in most things like D&D I ended up playing the two-bladed ranger or w/e but had to have a bow [and use it often] because nobody else believed in ranged shots... which kinda sucks as I like the hit and run of light blades.
I was reading over your campaign setting and it looks VERY interesting and if there is a spot open I would love to jump in. Here is what I'm thinking...
Skills:
Assassin Training (This character is proficient in both long and short ranged weaponry and daggers)
Adrenaline Junkie (This character has no problem with being reckless and risky in the face of any situation)
People Person (This character can talk her way in and out of almost any non-violent situation)
Appearance: When she performs assassinations she is normally in a black body suit and darkens her hair. Unless she has to kill someone when people are present then she appears however she has to to get the job done without any witnesses. Regardless of whether she is "working" or not she always carries a sidearm and/or hidden blade on her.
Bio:
Born and raised in LA, Raine was one of the very few child prodigies that was placed in a top secret training facility within the walls of Whedon & Schumacher. She was placed in the training program at the young age of 12. Devoid of emotion and bred to know that she has no friends or family, all she had was her job which happened to be taking the lives of others by any means necessary. By the age of 16 she was cast out of the agency to do freelance work under other authority. Given the codename "Raine" she set out on her first mission.
Her physique and mental prowess is almost unmatched by any other human and with all the assassinations she has complete at such a young age she developed a slight addiction to the job. Her very first mission was given to her was to take out a man that had a huge media following but unbeknownst to the public eye, this man was dirtier than he looked. She didn't know why they wanted this man dead but she rarely ever knows. She spent the first few nights studying this man, his habits and daily routines, etc. On the third night she infiltrated his home. She snuck into the man's room while he and his wife were sleeping. Their two children with them. One age 7, the other was 9. Raine carefully drew her silenced pistol and pointed it towards the man. The younger child was the first to wake up. The child asked "Daddy, who is this lady?" the man awoke and stared in a cold sweat and said "Please, whatever you are here for just take it and leave. Please don't hurt my family." The man's begging and pleading soon awoke the other two. Raine hesitated for only a moment and then pulled the trigger. The mother screamed but before she could even finish her cry of fear and shock the trigger was pulled yet again to silence the woman. With the children crying for the loss of their parents Raine slowly turned to walk away. Suddenly, she got glimpses of her training and the men who trained her. The line "No witnesses" chimed in the back of her mind. She turned and drew her gun. Hesitating yet again, she struggles with the trigger then finally closes her eyes and pops two more shots. The children lying there dead on top of the corpses of their parents sends the stench of death up Raines nostrils. She almost sheds a tear for what she has done but her training forces her to not feel emotions. "It is just business" she mumbles to herself. She almost doesn't want to believe the thoughts she is having, regret starts slowly making its way into her and she quickly leaves before she has any second thoughts about what has happened. She made her way into an alley in the dead of the night and broke down and cried. Cried for the first time and for the last time that night. She then realized what she was capable of and knew that this was her life now. She collected her pay and even got a hefty bonus for killing the wife and children. She thought it was sick that her employers got some sense of satisfaction out of the news of killing the whole family. Raine quickly left and has yet to do business with them again.
With her pay from the assassination she moved out of LA and to the east coast. Manhattan was her new home and she quickly became employed by a contact of Whedon & Schumacher. She stuck with this contact for many years traveling the world to take out certain individuals. Authority figures, Business moguls, Various other big timers. Killing has almost become a habit for her. Having to kill to get that sick rush that was bred into her, unlike any high she could ever achieve, the thought of taking a life made her excited. In her downtime she was reading, learning about the things she should have learned from her childhood, non-violent things. She became quite the master assassin, outshining all others. She was the assassin people would go to to take out other assassins that may have been gaining a sense of humanity. She has become addicted to adrenaline, the biggest rush being assassination. She has become an adrenaline junkie, always taking risks. Sleeping around for the rush, fighting for the rush, killing for the rush. She is but a shell of a human today. Devoid of almost all humanity. She is referred to as a machine, a "Terminator" as the associates call her. She doesn't like being referred to as that but they pay her so she deals with it...for now...
Darksyde: I'll reply to your bio in a PM after work, we'll get everything worked out.
Everyone: I got approved and am an official PnP Inn DM. When I get home tonight I'll go over the approvals, get the latest ones in working order and start the campaign tomorrow or Friday. Heck, if everyone is a quick reply, maybe even TONIGHT!
Yes, I can imagine..."All our foes must loudly announce their presence, then charge us with melee weapons across flat ground. Preferably one at a time. That's the honorable Samurai's way!"
I think more like "Why didn't anyone scout ahead, stealthily see what enemies were around, and come back to tell us where said enemies were so that we could plan out an actual strategy instead of just running and shouting?"
Ah my bad, I thought you were referring to my character. >_>
Great movie, you should watch it to see where most nerds Katana fetish come from.:p
I think more like "Why didn't anyone scout ahead, stealthily see what enemies were around, and come back to tell us where said enemies were so that we could plan out an actual strategy instead of just running and shouting?"

Minor Metalshaping (This character can use magic to bend near by metals into shapes for small uses)
Craft Junkie (This character can make a wide variety of items with her tools, as well as repair many mechanical items)
Character is a tech. Not inspired by Roze, although them talking shop will be interesting. Maybe?
I opened one last year, got two crap worldwake packs and 8x scathe zombies, which I promptly hid around my sister's apartment for her roommates to find. But, yeah, it was a piece of crap.
You, sir, have just won the internet. Congratulations.

Everyone: I got approved and am an official PnP Inn DM. When I get home tonight I'll go over the approvals, get the latest ones in working order and start the campaign tomorrow or Friday. Heck, if everyone is a quick reply, maybe even TONIGHT!
@Seth: Sweet.
There was once [The Pack], but no more.
You do have a rather small character with good agility in your party. -Points to my character sheet, then thumbs up-

Appearance - Tai is small, agile and lithe. He wears a navy-blue newsboy cap with worn, dark-tinted goggles resting on the brim. He wears a highly heat-resistant navy-blue military-esque jacket with brass buttons down the front, several hidden pockets and scorch marks on the cuffs that he usually leaves unbuttoned, and underneath that he has a light grey t-shirt with a winged fleur de lis design on it. There are small, thin welding gloves in one pocket of the jacket, as well as a screwdriver with several detachable heads. He wears a light brown belt holding up white cargo-shorts. He often goes barefoot, and his foot pads are very calloused. He wears two necklaces, one of which is an old fashioned key that opens the door to his shared apartment, and the other holds a series of lock-picking tools. He carries around a grey shoulderbag with two main pockets.
Shoulderbag - This item has two pockets, one of which caries pens, pencils, a notebook, an adjustable wrench, measuring tape, a magnifying lens, a deck of playing cards, a small pillow, a metal nail file, and a compass. The other pocket contains many assorted mechanical pieces, nuts, bolts, wiring, scrap metal, etc. as well as some small devices (clocks, etc.) in various states or disablement or repair.
Personality - Tai is fun and easygoing, and particularly enjoys figuring out how machines move and work. He is friendly to anyone who hasn't hurt him, and he is pretty trusting. However, he does hold grudges.
Hobbies - Taking apart machines/objects and putting them back together, building things, lock picking, climbing, cards.
Skills:
Leap (This character can jump farther and higher then other characters and is also quite agile when jumping)
Night Vision (This character sees much better in low light and darkness then characters without Night Vision)
Hand Weapon Focus (This character excels in using hand based weapons such as claws, knuckles, etc. This does not count as hand-to-hand or many kind of martial arts)
Maybe?
