Not sure if this has been reported, but in the Art Game Impossible, the picture is sometimes replaced with the word, "secret". When I reload, the picture is back again. Other times, I was presented with a blank page (i forget if the bar across the top was still there or not). Once again, reload fixed the problem. I'm using firefox if it matters.
Regardless, missing one in 20 pictures isn't a bad deal for a fun activity like the art game. Suggestion: more game modes - most notably it would be cool to play it by block or by set. i'm not sure if this is feasible, but if you could allow people to narrow the cardpool down on their own, with the advanced search function, it would be fantastic (i'm not crazy about having core sets singled out, while other useful searches - by artist, only creatures, etc - aren't available).

This space dedicated to Duane Allman. Wail on Skydog!
Aristotle: Some cards are missing the artwork crop, I'm trying to exclude all those. I'll consider your "advanced search -> art game" for a future update.
Nokiou: There should be one already! Just click the quick search icon (it should be glowing) and choose "Add MagicCards.Info". But it's broken, because it links to magiccards.info instead of beta.magiccards.info.
I came here to suggest to make magiccards.info a quick-search, but I'm unsure how to add it. I have no glowing icons. Usually, I'm pretty good with tutorial, a quick tutorial, or screenshot should help
Nevermind figured it out.
And this is the greatest search engine available. Keep up the good work!
I like it, especially being able to view the cards three to a row with scans only. My only problem so far has been that I cannot apparently search an entire block of cards, only by each set within the block. I have been trying to do so under the Advanced Search but under the block name it doesn't include the option. Am I doing something wrong or this is not an option?

The new interface does occupy more space than the old version though (putting label:textbox on separate lines, the extra hr's and such). I understand this could make the interface less intimidating, but it's also a bit difficult to use on laptops/netbooks. Is it possible to merge some options into the same section (e.g. mana/p/t/cmc), or place the input on the same line as the heading (e.g. language: any/english)?
For dropdown menus with a small number of choices (e.g. the "compare to power/cmc" menu) I feel radios buttons are better coz they require one less click and have a bigger click box.
maxwindiff: Thank you for that feedback. Reorganizing the advanced search page is something I intend to do before the launch, and your insight really helps there. I will keep your ideas in mind.
Ok, I just went to use the beta site for a seach and realized I needed to use the regular one because the beta can't do what I wanted properly.
Firstly:
Although I love the "is not a permanent" scroll bar options I feel it is still very important to have the basic list of Artifact, Creature, Enchantment, etc.
Second:
There needs to be a second CMC slot so that you can say something such as 2<x<5. Not being able to do this is a real problem, it can more than cut the results of a search in half.
1. There is no option list at the moment, but the functionality is there, see the "Types (Oracle, English):" field. But I'm working on a way to integrate both the flexible new text input and the old option list into the new search page.
2. You can do it, just not using the search page. Type "cmc>2 cmc<5" into the query field. But that part of the new search page is also not ideal yet, and will be improved.
Hey, Hannes!
Great work, I am really liking it.
I do miss something important to me, though ...
When you visit the page and the cursor is already in the text field.
I keep clicking my Firefox bookmark and I start typing like before and get upset that nothing happened, haha
Say, would it be possible, on queries returning more than 3000 results, to list the exact number of results returned? For instance say I want to know just how many creatures have been printed.
BTW, very nice implementation of flip/split cards. Easily the best I've seen. I do have to wonder if some implementation that allows some sort of searching of both halves (on split cards as well) would be better, but... oh well. If someone really wants to do that, they can just pull down the menu and choose "is a flip card" (or "is a split card") and look through them. And that would probably be annoying to do. The one thing that would make it better would be if each part of Who/What/When/Where/Why had all 4 other parts listed as its other part, but since it's just that one card it's kind of minor I guess - a person can easily see them all at once by just searching for that card.
I read through the thread, and didn't see it, so I thought I might post:
Could it be possible for flip cards (like Azamuki and the other Kamigawa block cards) to have a "flip" feature that links to the other entry in the database? That would be swell.
yawg07: You're right, I've actually missed that one.
bakert: At the moment hybrid mana cards are supposed to match that query, because they can be cast with only blue mana.
Sniffnoy: Maybe, maybe. After the site is live, I will check on some statistics and possibly increase the limit. About the split cards, do you mean you want a way to see both halves on one page?

Well, I recongize that there has to be some limit, and 3000 seems quite a reasonable one; but I'm wondering if, even when the search goes over limit, we can get the *number* even if we can't get the cards.
About the split cards, do you mean you want a way to see both halves on one page?
I wasn't asking for that at all, but now that you mention it it would be nice! But that's really not important, seeing as you already have both halves linked together. I was talking about for search purposes... I suppose the cleanest way would be like if you could prefix a field with a specific string to indicate other half (like, say the prefix were "s", so you could search "t:creature st:enchantment" to search for a creature that flips to an enchantment). But again I don't consider this too important, as it's not likely to come up much, and there aren't very many split/flip cards, so just looking through them is not a big problem.
Ah, now I understand. Well, that's quite advanced, maybe something I can consider for a later update.
About the limit, there's not much difference (actually none) between finding out how many results there are and showing them all. That's why it's currently at 3000 (because that's actually the hard limit of how "far" it's looking).
true 'nuff. Its a great feature though

I strongly second the ~ for CARDNAME suggestion, if it's easy to do. I've wanted it many times.
I've been using magiccards.info as a quick search for over a year now.

How does one filter out non-English cards?
For example, query "orz" returns non-English matches. How do I modify it to only return English cards?
