But, if it's mostly for enemy duals, why not just finish off the seachrome type cycle with enemy colors?
The advantage of shocks was that you can get the ones you need when you need them by fetching. If you play them off the draw... they are alot worse, and you'd rather be playing the seachrome type, or even the m10 type.
But without a good way to search them up cheap and fast, they're not really good.
You're flat out wrong here. The original duals were played a lot, and that was without a way to "fetch them cheap and fast". The shocklands are only marginally worse than original duals - and they saw lots of play in standard without a way to fetch them. If you play them off the draw, you can choose to play them tapped, or not. Your logic here is faulty. Lots of us remember Rav/TS standard, where shocklands commanded 10 - 20 dollar price tags, for good reason. Shocklands will provide lots of flexibilty in a deck's land slots, and also have the more-than-marginal benefit of counting as two basic land types. I'm not sure whether you are trying to troll with statements like these, or if you're a new player who doesn't know the value of lands with statements like these.

My bet is new player thats also trolling, i know a guy thats pretty much a mobile Card shoppe that has been playing for just over a year. He gets his info from forums i haven't even heard from... not to say he's wrong, he's also builted charbelcher last fall, and has been in my area's metagame for months before it made its debut in a Starcity games tournement.(now we all have answers that the teir one deck doesn't know about )
As for the potential shocklands idea, has it been established weither or not they will be enemy wedge-land colors. If we take a look at what happened to Ravnica at the end of Dessension it would imply that the guilds morphed into 5 wedge-colors. So wouldn't that make the shock lands have 3 different land types? Assuming they do make them, this would be unprecidented, and the lands would start easily at $40 each for the high legacy potental.
I had this vision about possible new "bolt" duals long time ago:
~insertcardname~ - Swamp Mountain Forest
~cardname~ enters the battlefield tapped unless you pay 3 life.
t: add B, R of G to your mana pool.
Like Alara tri-lands, only better.
i can see this easily, i actually had a debate with a few player here and we agreed this was not unreasonable, and would still get a TON or action in Legacy.
idk yo, I just hope rtr is not a shards like flop. IMO multicolor sets are kinda odd in of themselves. I never played during the hybrid blocks and shards just annoyed me with the almost every card is MC.
If wotc could get a good middle ground on MC and MoColored for rtr I may actually draft, but as a whole I am done playing t2 cause its......
I don't feel like changing me deck every week.

LOL, Jace seems to be the "favorite nephew" so to speak. I missed Ravnica the first time around so i'm definitely looking forward to Return to Ravnica.

I am really excited for the prerelease! I think that it is great that Wizards is doing things like the Helvault and now the Guilds. It makes me really excited! It also almost makes up for the terrible promos we have been having. ALMOST.

but now we know we wont get wedge lands *cries* i was looking forward to wedge lands and amazing new wedge generals for EDH, my RWB reanimator needed a better general then Tarie, but i'll definately be buying at least one box.
I am sad that there isn't going to be any cards with the Dredge mechanic but that's alright I will live. Nice to see several different pieces of artwork though from this new set.
who said ther will be no dredge??? its not going to be wedge, we will have Golgari, so most likely we will have a new form of dredge or just plain orl dredge, maybe make legacy dredge better.

it was revealed (at Comic-con, I think) that none of the keyword abilities from the original Ravnica block will be coming back in RTR.
Some of these things are so geeky. Like the letter from the guild leader. Ultra nerdy, but I cant wait to read them. I'm so excited for RTR that I can barely contain myself. M13 is less than a week old in standard and I'm already waiting for the next set.

Jace is more then likely going to be in RTR.
Bruna, Light of Alabaster
Tasigur, the Golden Fang
Alesha, Who Smiles at Death
Yasova Dragonclaw
not to be an ass, but we kinda got that from the Announcing Pic lol
