I use SFM in my deck, but i don't really mind seeing it go, it was too obnoxious. I have one jace, but i only use him for the brainstorm ability, and now he can go into my EDH.
rubbing salt to wound to someone who just lost couple of hundred bucks?
No, he actually said this would be his last week(this past Friday) running it as he was expecting the ban to come so he wanted to prep early. We had a long, in depth, and slightly hilarious conversation about the deck and he said he was going to keep it together for a while and wouldn't mind goofing with it.
Only have met one person since I have back in who I pray isn't there this FNM, for his voice will grate all of us on how the 10 copies of it he has in his binder are now woefully banned.
Should be interesting, I have the event deck as I have largely been playing other stuff but it plays pretty well out of the box so maybe I'll keep it intact. I am already brewing ideas to mod it post SFM though.
Should help get a few more miles out of my kuldotha deck before chunks of it rotate out.
This is a huge economic blow to us PTQ grinders. We invest 500-700 dollars into a deck only to have it ripped away from us.
New format will be twice as boring and degenerate as the old. Stoneforge was a problem. Jace honestly wasn't. And, of course, I am stuck with 6 of them because I've been lending them out to friends for their PTQ season...
I do find it amusing that so many uncompetitive players are taking pleasure in our loss though. Do you really hate us grinders so much?

Given that your complaint boils down to Jace not being degenerate because plowing $700 into a deck hasn't made you able to win a PTQ, while simultaneously insulting players who don't want to drop a week's salary on four pieces of cardboard as "uncompetitive" - yes, I do find myself feeling a certain degree of antipathy towards people who think they should be able to buy success. But that has nothing to do with the validity of these bannings.
Competitive players get the cards we need to play the game with the best shot of winning. That means we're pretty much forced to own cards like Jace. If you don't understand that, you're simply not a competitive player. We lock into one deck after careful deliberation for the PTQ season. With that deck being banned, we'll have to spend another 200-300 dollars building yet another deck while losing out on a significant portion of our backend.
Here's the long and short of it folks. You guys beat us. You couldn't beat us on the court. You couldn't beat us playing the game we love. No... You cried to your momma long enough and loud enough to have them take away our toys. Then, instead of acting with a sense of decorum and having a shred of the sportsmanship grinders like myself have had every time we've beaten you... you celebrate and talk smack. As I said. This both amuses and disappoints me.
When I could have been unloading mine, I was helping out less resourceful locals loaning them. I figured Wizards had the ability to realize that Jace was NEVER the issue. He's good enough that if you want to run blue control, you need 4, just like mana leak or preordain. As a Cawblade player who has played several hundred matches, I found that Jace was an afterthought in the deck. Stoneforge was the keystone.
I fully anticipated Stoneforge or Batterskull bans as they are simply degenerate. I'm a college student. I pay my rent by playing this game.
People are happy because they are no longer being priced out of the format, not because serious players/grinders are losing value.
You'll still be priced out of the format. Standard has a sort of equilibrium. With Jace gone, other mythics will all increase in value as they see more play. If you want to play RDW for instance, you better have your playset of koths, because he'll probably hit 35-40. Tezzeret will inflate to 40-50, and so on. I can guarantee that the best deck in the next month will be going for 400-500.
I'm sure that's why you're happy, but quite a few here just seem to be pleased at our suffering. Schadenfreude

Why do you keep saying that's why people are happy? I am happy because the format is going to be a lot more interesting with caw-blade gone. My deck didn't even have a terrible match up against it, but it was boring to play against the same deck every round.
I've been playing Cawblade for months, and I even agree that Stoneforge needed to get the ban. Jace, however, was never the problem. Looks like I'll be going back to valakut, possibly with anti-aggro mainboard cards. What can possibly stop Valakut now, except Splinter Twin (which I might play anyway)?
Next time you post popular opinions, please word them in such a way that they're not infractable. Someone may be widely thought to be the dullest tool in the shed, but you can't publicly call him that, which as a mod I can neither confirm nor deny that I fervently believe he's a tool.
As competitive player who has forked out for jaces stoneforges swords and more to lend out to my friends, I think your misrepresenting me and every other player who wants an entertaining game.
To be perfectly honest im not bothered on losing a card that will be playable in other formats and didnt have much more time left in it anyway.
In the meantime its about time to find my love for the game in other ways, like genuinely discovering what deck will beat the new format, until then just sayin, dont be too pissed about jace leaving theres more to the game then winning, there's feeling like you've won the game with a deck you had a morsel of creative impact on and with the departing of caw-blade, i look forward to having the chance to do that
As a non-competitive player, I understood the power of Jace because so many people in these forums complained about him.
What caught me by surprise was Stoneforge Mystic. I actually have that card in my soldier/equipment deck, but I never thought that card was that big a deal. I knew nothing about the decks it powered or how they dominated Standard.
I kinda feel I missed out, now, because I could have traded it for some serious value before it got banned. Oh well, I guess I have to settle for having it in my l33t casual deck.
u mean SFM not STM but regardless what is the worst is they dropped a huge bomb in to the market with the event decks and then bam ban hammer comes down also noticing that the set skips where jace bel would be it shows they had planned to print JTMS in m12 seeing as he wasnt the problem so now the spoilers will be a bit off for m12 and they will shift card numbers and various other things will happen

I dont think they ever planned to reprint Jace TMS lol
they'll reprint Jace TMS in a Duel Deck. Duel Decks are printed right before rotation or long after, anyhow. Nicol Bolas and Ajani Vengeant are being reprinted now, for an example of the latter.
they've reprinted banned cards before- they'll just reprint it in a side product, rather than a new set or core set.
to the players who are complaining about Jace losing value. its not THAT bad. he is still played in every other format and is the greatest planeswalker card to date. i dont see him going below $50.

The deck wasn't stacked in their favor.
