The only good thing about this post is the edible chocolate roaches they gave out! Mmm mmm!

Wait a minute, edible roaches don't crawl! EDIBLE ROACHES DON'T CRAWL!
Media is not making me steal. But in a way is like the story of the very hot girl with the short skirt teasing the old sick guy with a history of rape.
I am cross posting this here from the States Cancelled thread which is closed.
"The reason States/Champs is North America only is that the North American organizers worked together to make it happen.
The way it worked was that back in March Sunmesa Events approached the previous organizers and said "If we can redesign States and make a proposal to Wotc are you in?' Organizers for the US and Canada were found. A proposal was made and presented at PT Hollywood. At US Nat's the proposal was approved. Now it's being announced and executed.
An awful lot of folks have worked hard to get this event back on the calendar. It was long gone back in March. We are very happy to have found a way to offer North American players the choice to enjoy States/Champs again.
Much like the North American players didn't have a 2HG series and England did, some regional differences are going to happen.
Also I would like to make sure folks know straight away foil Alt Art Mutavaults are Not part of this year's program. Just were not enough to actually support the program.
Be that as it is, we do have a cool foil and several other cool toys, check magicthegathering.com and your participating TO's websites for details.
I specially like the free entry for a year to all contructed premier events for the champions at all participation locations.
Glen, do you know when they are going to inform TO's if they are running states or not? And give us details on it such as prize support, etc. ?
Rumor has it that this week includes the TO Site information deadline, which means that if your TO is involved in it... he better had selected a location already.
And Yes, November 8 is the confirmed date, as per the WOTC Post.

well if you were the one running it last year, wouldn't it just be assumed in the same place and whatnot if you're a store? who do we contact about it, deos anyone know? i just love this new WPN with the total lack of communication from them *rolls eyes*.
Organizers have been determined already. Locations are being finalized now. Most of the program will look very much like previous years with a couple sexy (in my opinion) changes. If you look at the backstory, most of this was outlined back in March.
Stay tuned we will inform you asap. Meanwhile circle November 8th it's gonna be fun.
awesome. i hope they come up with some sweet posters like they used to in the past. (or other nifty promotional items to advertise with). i rather like those table tents they've been doing.
Then obviously, you'll still need to read what the "Big Prize" is for States. It's pretty awesome.
where that info at?
EDIT: are you talking about the free entry to tourneys for a year? if so, I'd much rather earn a trip to Nats or at least have 3 rounds at regionals or something that matters.

you don't think FREE entry to all state events for a year is a good prize? do you play magic? if you do.. you get to play FOR FREE for the year.. A trip to nat's would be a good prize too.. instead of giving away via city champs.. because right now states leads nowhere.. but that does not mean that several hundred dollars worth of entry fee for the year is not worth something either..
yeah the free thing is not that big of a deal for me, they do that in Kentucky already, and have done it for at least 4 years now, so it's nothing new or surprising.
States means nothing until I get to go to nationals for winning, like pretty much everything else that has a state tournament, you win, you move up to the Nats.
I think it's great that States are back, I love the tournament, but don't show me a polished turd and call it a jewel.
My understanding is that its free entry in to EVERY premier tournament in the states(non PT/Nats i assume) including all GPs, PTQs and regionals... assuming 3 ptqs/season and one GP/Regionals a year that prize is worth, around 320+your product+ bragging rights/50 dollar foil... yeah i think increasing firsts payout to aroudn 500 USD in value instead of 100 is pretty good...

"In another life, in another dream,
By a different name,
Gave it all away for a memory and a quiet lie.
But I felt the face of a cold tonight,
Still don't know the score,
But I know the pain of leaving everything very far behind.
And if I could cry,
And if I could live,
What truth I did then take me there,
Heaven Goodbye."
