As someone from the Midwest I am a little confused as to GP-Indianapolis.
Indy is a nice city and all, but since GenCon is there they should put some of the bigger summer tournmanets in other midwestern cities.
I agree, and I live in Indianapolis. I can't say I'm complaining that it's in Indianapolis. I would've expected it in Chicago, Detroit, or Madison.
I think Indianapolis is probably more popular than a lot of people realize.
As far as formats go, I cant imagine it would be Vintage since there is a Vintage tournament at GenCon.
If anyone needs help planning to attend the Indy GP, let me know and I'll help you find inexpensive, but nice places to stay.

will scoop to you for bad foils... nevermind that I was going to scoop anyway.
I hope Indianapolis is a legacy event (heres hoping), anyways see you all there.
I doubt it would be Legacy. Indianapolis already has the Legacy and Vintage Championships each year, so they are more likely to send those formats elsewhere to help spread them out.
Based on the local player base, Extended, Standard, or Limited would all be great. If it is an eternal format or 2HG then I'll be pretty disappointed.
Telsacow, they don't want to put a GP at GenCon because it draws players by itself so a GP would be redundant. Although I am surprised that they didn't put it a little earlier to give some more separation from GenCon.
BTW, I do love the irony of GP Indianapolis taking place during the weekend of the (now cancelled) F1 USGP in Indianapolis. Personally, I prefer the Grand Prix we're getting to the one that pulled out.
Meh, I would have to travel about 4 hours to get to Minneapolis anyway.... and if there was one in Minneapolis, I'd go.... so I might as well just go to Kansas City, and Indy depending on format/money.

Denver is Block Constructed... and costs $30 to enter? What are they giving us as prize, gold bars?
Indy is sealed.
Kansas is sealed. That locks up the gp schedule for this year.
i thought it was usual price for GPs in the USA. 30 bucks fo US GP, 10 euros fo Euroe GP ... aint it rite?
You really just need to embrace the rage. I keep a small colony of hamsters next to my computer and every time I lose a match to mana screw I throw one against the wall.
Well, the South American GP is in Buenos Aires, which couldn't make me happier (there was no chance they'd do it in my native Montevideo).
Expect a huge, surprising turnout - I've seen excited posts on boards from Brazil, Peru and Chile, not to mention between 40 to 80 Uruguayans I expect, and no less than 300-400 Argentineans, plus whatever number of pros - 10? 20?

where do you see this? When I look at it GP:Kansas says TBD...
This season I'm going to Copenhagen and Madrid. Shoot me a message here on the forums, any of you who are also going there, always fun to meet fellow MtGS'ers... (nods to Entity)

Yeah, I'd really like a link to this as well, just so I can show the other guys at my shop. Those are the three GPs I'm most likely to attend (KC, Denver, Indy, in that order), so it's good to know the formats already. Just wondering where exactly this was, because it still says TBD for me on Wizards, as well. -Jack

The schedule is an older version (probably because of publishing deadlines) as it has the Atlanta GP listed as "USA ... to be confirmed ... Fall 2008".
So that brings the total to 21 GPs this year ... Not as bad as I feared when the PT/GP schedule was first released with only 3 PTS + Worlds and 17 GP.
EDIT - I was just re-reading the schedule and am curious what the DCI thinks the difference between Fall and Autumn is

um. 30 euros it is. As though the exchange rate is 1:1. Except they don't adapt prize support obv.

Auckland New Zealand December 6-7, 2008PT #1 2009 - Format TBC
a lot of pros for gp in arg
300-400 argentinians?? plus 60-80 brazilians.... 20 chileans 10-20 peruvians...
exciting!!
205 Argentineans
20 Uruguayans
5 Brazilian & other
So for the GP I expect at least twice those numbers:
400 Argentineans
40 to 80 Uruguayans
60 to 80 Brazilians
20 Chileans
10 Peruvians
50 Pros & other ??
....
about 550 players I hope.
Though Extended is more popular than Standard over here (less investment).
GP Porto Alegre was badly located and had 400ish players..
