It strikes me odd that the Evil eye is texted as "except by walls" if this was infact a authentic errated version shouldnt it say Creatures with defender?
It strikes me odd that the Evil eye is texted as "except by walls" if this was infact a authentic errated version shouldnt it say Creatures with defender?
No, because that actually changes what the card does. Much like how Rolling Stones still references Walls.
However, there are some Walls in the set to deal with the Eye from what the Orb says, not to mention any reprinted walls that dont show up in the orb.
Has anybody even thought of the posibility that maybe, JUST maybe, Wizards threatened the E-Bay seller dude for fraud? I mean, no offense to dear old Lesurgo, but how ignorant can we be... Or could it be denial? Let's forget about Fake or real. Let's just focused on play issues and interesting thoughts on how to play limited and what not.
Oh and Lesurgo, is ins't possible that the guy mixed the new cards and the supposed reprints to give it a more... realistic feel to the situation... like making us think they are real?
To those who still want to keep their heads in the sand, lets look at some things that we know to be true:
1) WotC is "mining" nostalgia in order to sell this block. Seems a pretty safe move, heck, who wouldn't want to relive their happy memories? So, how do to they go about doing this? Bringing back old mechanics, bringing back old characters, and bringing back old artists (how long has it been since anyone's seen Richard-Kane Ferguson?).
2) MaRo among many others have stated that things in this block will be done that will knock our socks off, things that we'd think they'd never do ever.
3) The secrecy surrounding this block, from waaaay back with R_E's playtest cards to the near-instantaneous crackdown on the purple set icon. If, in fact, there is a whole "set-within-a-set" of cards here (something thats never been done) which consists entirely of reprints (mining nostalgia), they'd do everything in their power in order to keep us from finding out about it. This would include keeping words that are in the reprints from the Time Spiral orb. And, actually, if these cards are considered to be "outside" of Time Spiral, there's no reason they'd be in the orb anyway.
So lets think about it. Rather than just sit there at home in front of your computer muttering to yourself "those darned fakers aren't gonna get me this time, no way, uh-huh" and offering every emotional-driven argument under the sun to "prove" that these reprints are fake, how about we use our heads?
It's even within the flavor of the set to keep the old frames: the barrier that separates "now" time from "then" time is shot. You, as a 'walker, are able to not only pull characters from previous times, but THE VERY SPELLS THEMSELVES. Spells that were lost to the ages can now be "borrowed" for use in your duel. Thus, the old frames, old art, old everything...these spells have their own native time, and it most certainly isn't one hundred years after Karona came by and said hullo. Personally, I think it's very flavorful, and love WotC for doing it.
So come on. If our mods, who have considerable experience in debunking stuff just like this, sign off on it, we can.
Oh and Lesurgo, is ins't possible that the guy mixed the new cards and the supposed reprints to give it a more... realistic feel to the situation... like making us think they are real?
Yes, that is possible. However, having some of the cards be real and some of them be fake is quite a silly notion.
Let's forget about Fake or real. Let's just focused on play issues and interesting thoughts on how to play limited and what not.
Yes! Please do this, the cries of fake have no base to them and are getting quite tiresome.
I have a query - are cards printed in the queens english or the americanized version of the language? Or does it change depending on the country? Only thought to mention as one of the cards mentions "Color" as opposed to the english spelling "colour", which - as a brit - stands out to me. If Magic is printed with the English spellings, that could be evidence to support fakes, but as an American company, i can see why wizards would choose to print cards using the american spellings.
Overall, meh. if this doesnt make sense or is irrelevant, feel free to Mod it out.
Its not a silly question. But yes, the american version of the cards say Color on them without a u.
I, like many others on this thread, am a little sad that they reprinted the old cards in the original frame. They could have at least done like what they did with coldsnap and made them all look the same with the new frame, which looks much cleaner and more consistant. That being said, I am so excited that they did reprint the cards in the first place. I can't really say what I think about the new mechanics as I have not playtested them, but they could very well work into todays standard. I hope that they come out with some more multicolored cards so as to play nice with ravnica. I have to say that I am a little bit worried with the fact that time spiral is a throwback because of ravnica's great success. I guess that I am a little afraid of change...

So if the card is reprinted in the old frame with the purple piece it's not standard legal but is being reprinted for us again? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

There are four possibilites for the ending to the auction.
1. The cards are real, and Wizards threatened to sue is he didn't take them down. Wizard's has really been cracking down on the leaks, and may have threatened him to get them down, and may still go after this guy to find out where he got them.
2. The cards are fake, and Wizards threatened to sue if he didn't take them down. Wizards wouldn't want fake cards being sold on eBay as new Time Spiral card even if they're fake, they would be the only ones to know for sure other than the seller wherther they were fake or real.
3 The cards are real, and the guy wanted to stir up the Magic crowd with a little preview. Who wouldn't want everyone looking at your auction on eBay and possibly bidding on other stuff you have. It's a good thing for buisiness.
4. The cards are fake, and the guy wanted to mess with everyone's head which seems to be working pretty well. For all we know it could be MaRo himself and you know how he likes to toy with everyone. Like hey let's put some fake cards up to get everyone all confused then really drop some bombshell cards on them.
I really do hope they're real and there's a lot more really good cards that are coming back.
As to the unspoiled 4th booster(I didn;t know there was one not shown yet), it's possible there's a picture of one of the old cards on it, but I doubt it would be a pack of just old cards, because if the old cards are any good then people are going to buy that pack first. it's like the whole Unezawa's Jitte in the Rat's Nest deck drama, Wizards wants to avoid things like that.
So before everyone gets all mad at everyone else for saying they're real or not real, be patient, the cards will be seen on September 23rd, in 13 days. That's less than 2 weeks to wait. So be happy we've got a new set coming either way, because it's gonna be a wild ride when Time Spiral comes out.
Question: This block is about time and planes mixing together right? Well where is the kamigawa and ravnica time and planes? Give us the sweet characters from ravnica and kamigawa that did not see print in thier respective blocks. This has been bugging me for a while and if anyone has an answer it would be great.
So if the card is reprinted in the old frame with the purple piece it's not standard legal but is being reprinted for us again? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
It is unknown at this time about the legality of purple cards in formats or how they will be obtained. There are several theories being flung about in the Rumor Mill.
I personally believe that they will be legal in standard, but we shall see.
I personally believe that they will be legal in standard, but we shall see.
I think so too. I also think that it would be very cruel of WoTC for them to make all of these reprints and then not have them be leagal. It would be like being kicked in the balls repeatedly if they didn't let them be standard leagal. I still wish that the reprints would be in the new frame...

It's theorized that Ravnica, Kamigawa, and Mirrodin will be brought together in Planar Chaos, the set due out in Winter 2007
Ok, basicly, what the purple cards look like, is Chronicles 2.0 witch is something WotC said would never happen. It screws too much with the secondary market.
Now, that said, provided that it does happen, these don't seem like cards with any real value, unlike what they did in chronicles. these seem more to be casual cards, that would be fun for casual players. I doubt them being tourney legal.
Now, as to why the seller pulled the auction, there is a third opption/fifth option, and that is, Ebay threatened him as well with fraud charges, for selling a non-existant item.
all of the new cards check out on orb of insight, but none of the "purple" cards show up, so even if they are real I don't think they will be released with time spiral... but that makes me wonder about the expansion symbol.
edit: sorry for repeating everyone, I accidentally skipped pgs 2-3
Once again, the purple symbol cards ARE being released with Time Spiral. Exactly how they will be distributed is unknown to us right now, but they will appear.
Maybe I am the only one who sees this, but I was looking at the expansion symbols and noticed a discrepancy between the symbol on Consecrate Land and Wither Wretch:
LMAO! Its annoying but freaking funny how people keep asking the same questions. Anyways, I love Word of Seizing as well... I've always loved cards like that from a distance... Who here can remember Insurrection and Threaten, and then that flashback card Seize the Day, was it?
Drifter il-Dal looks savage in limited. Drop this guy on the first turn, and your opponent is probably taking at least 4 before he can kill it. If he doesn't have cheap burn, he's probably taking more like 8.
u know what im wondering most of all is why u guys are hyped up those old cards suck anyways and the entire point of time spiral is to make a new set. they use old abilites in new ways on new cards and also i don't think fear is going to make an appearance it's already been stated on magicthegathering.com that all abilites will have something to do with time and i don't think fear qualifies. and don't bother asking me how flanking does cuz i don't know but i can see where flashback or buy back does and suspend. and they have no intention of making a seperate set so get that idea out of your head if u look up those cards those are thier actual numbers in the set they were from.
and also that drifter isn't taht great what happends when they bust out a second turn wachwolf then u don't even have a blocker

I find it odd that http://magiccards.info and gatherer show that Sengir Autocrat was Autocrat in Homelands and Fifth Edition, then retemplated to Minion in Sixth... but the auction image only shows "Human". Minions are not going to be removed from the Magic universe, unless poor Balthor the Defiled is getting nerfed (he's already a Dwarf, cut him some slack). Human Minion, I would think but just Human sounds pretty fishy to me.
Other cards types were changed on these cards too. For example, the Evil Eye of Orms-By-Gore was changed back to an eye to better interact with the new Urborg Eye. It may have been for functional or flavor reasons, but it has been changed with this new incarnation.
No, because that actually changes what the card does. Much like how Rolling Stones still references Walls.

they said any wall that was printed before is now a defender and they didn't reprint rolling stones after kamigawa wich was when defender was made.
ya i doubt that and they said since the sets were so new there only taking cards that were from mirrodin and back.
