Ya it might be hard to detect cheating but that what we are talking about.
Because he was caught many times and if it was cheating then it should have been stopped. Isn't looking at some one's deck an auto game loss? If he has been getting a brake (probably because he is a pro) then you have a problem.
Ya hindsite is 20/20 that dosn't make there choice ok.
A 40 dollar mythic rare would constitute a must have 4 of that goes in many decks.
Stats About Mythics
-Mythics are on average 40% rarer than pre-mythic rares
(old blocks about 200 rares, Mythic blocks 35+ mythics)
-They are printing more new cards a year not less
(about 665 now vs. 630 in most pre-mythic block)
-To drop the value of a rare by $1 a mythic must go up $2
-In a 3 year time span deck prices doubled. I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity. Sig this to join the cause.

Normally, it's considered Looking at Extra Cards (it is, in fact, one of the examples listed), and the penalty is a Warning at REL4 (presuming it was unintentional and it hasn't occured previously).
What "things" were he refering to that the interview said?

Stop ignoring halcyon's excellent point.

I thought that I would chime in with my 2 cents. I personally have always liked Olivier Ruel since I started following the Pro-tour. However in my opinion (and this is just my opinion) his disregard for the rules after he was warned warrants the punishment. Regardless of his intention, it needs to be treated in the same fashion that you would treat a repeat offender.
When you have rules in a system that cater to peoples intentions it is to easy to be abused. If people know what to expect or to expect the worse they will pay more attention.
I haven't had a chance to rifle through all 280 previous posts on this subject, but was seriously thinking of something. What is going to be the status of his Invitational win card? Will it still be made or will some other card be made in it's place because of this suspension?

I remember the game where wienies were popping up everywhere, not to mention the plethora of 1/1 creatures on the board!

Correct me if I'm wrong.. but wasn't Antoine the winner? Not Olivier?
