Arcbound Ravager, Disciple of the Vault, and the artifact lands all got the boot in Standard, which will inevitably make Type 2 a good format again, while Vintage loses Trinisphere, and we get a sneak peak at what October brings to the Eternal format.
I'm baffled at why Ravager got banned. Without the artifact lands, there is simply no way the card is abusive. Taking away the artifact lands would have already been more than enough to fix the problem - what they did was overkill.
Just a few weeks ago I would have never dreamed that this would be the fate of the format..... Its still pretty unbelievable.

Wow! Killed Affinity and KCI at the same time. Thanks Wizards
Edit: Just wanted to post my reaction quick. Anyways, I'm also glad to see the inclusion Portal and others like it now included into Vintage. Just sad that Imperial Seal was banned in Legacy -_-
They definitely went over the deep end. However, I can understand where they are coming from. They don't want another skullclamp fiasco, with the deck surviving and then becoming even more dominant than before. They want to make certain that ravager lies in the dust destroyed completely this time.

No man...neutered isn't the word. RAPED HARDCORE is a better term. Wow...I don't think they've EVER gone to that extreme to cripple an entire deck on purpose...Not even Rebels was affected when Lin Sivvi got the ax...
Trinisphere I'm not surprised. It's a "modern" version of Nether Void.
i played in a tournament on fridcay. i played affintiy to a sedond place finish. vial lis broken i wonws many games son th3e poever oif it.
Unless i am mistaken Oxidize, V Shaman and E Witness are showing up in just as many decks and warping the metagame as much as Affinity. They should just ban all of Mirrodin block. Onslaught was always the best block ever. I had a U/W Cleric wizard deck that couldnt be beat.
can i just say that i have never been happier about the plummeting value of cards that i curently own?
this all begs a few questions?
what does the current deck scene look like after bannings? we all know tooth and nail, but what else creeps in? not everybody is going to want to run the green fattie deck...
was Trinisphere a problem in vintage? i thought it was supposed to be a solution to the degenerate cards that are all inside the Vintage arena... i know, i know... first turn my opponent drops allof his (or her) 0 CC moxen / lotus goodness, and then drops out Trinisphere so that on my turn i'm looking at $1500 worth of cards that i can not play... but at least it's not a first turn kill that you can't stop or even sneeze at... ah, Vintage...
Its too bad about the artifact lands... I like shapnil blast and now its kind of hedged out in mono red by... um... anything. broodstar affinity would have been cool instead of modualar but kay sira sira.

Personally, we may all see the return of dominating control decks. I think TnN, R/G Kiki Jiki, U/G, W/U, mono U, B/G, and so forth will all be the tournament scene. I really can't think of any competitive aggro decks except for some random white weenie and sligh.
Damn, I'm shocked! Affinity, as a deck, mechanic, and idea, is GONE. I figured they'd at least leave Broodstar Affinity somewhat viable, but without the lands, it's gone too. I'm happy as hell, but damn...
Feel the wrath of White Speed. my sideboard will change though.

Arcbound Ravager, I'll see my four copies of you in Extended, where you're not overpowered
Type 2 will be good again! This has been too long waiting. Affinity is gone, WW will go back to sucking like it should instead of being a meta deck, T&N is beatable unlike Affinity (MRC, anyone?) and also unlike Affinity, decks that beat T&N can also beat other decks!
I wish I'd held onto my Imperial Seal now Oh well, the $40 was still sweet. I don't play T1 much, so I don't really care about Stompy getting their Jungle Lions, but I'm sure they're glad that Trinisphere is gone.

Also nice to see that they restricted Trinisphere in Vintage. Wonder if they'll ever restrict Workshop, though...
Enough to make me cry in joy? ... Yes...
I'm that happy right now... I don't care that my Ravagers are worthless, its reign is finally over.

Knowing the Internet magic community, this is the signal for *****ing to begin.
Also, it seems oddly ironic that they neutered the artifact deck during artifact week,
but seriously, of coarse its over kill they didnt just want to stop this deck, they wanted to castrait it

Also note that ravager wasn't banned in extended so you can use him there.
