im really angry with wizards! they could have jus taken out the ravager and desciple. i mean honestly. the harshest part was when they took the lands. i had a new deck in the works that used one of them. anything playing shrapnel blast is going to have to think about how to play it as easy. so i would like to give all the people that were apart of this somthing. you deserve a face beating! along with all the people that are happy about this. you dont see how vital it is. i made decks that were great in the format and pretty consistant against ravager. you have to be creative. net decks dont always do the trick. with that thought learn the game some more! have fun with this new screwy enviroment. take care all.

Do you even comprehend why bannings happened? Wizards the knew the format was balanced, they knew that Ravager was not the only option. The problem was the format was stale and boring. And nothing in any of the new sets was going to change the power level of affinity. Many players (including myself) haven't touched T2 since ravager became legal because the format was dull. Decks like ravager (or Raffinity, one of the worst deck names I've ever heard) forced creativity out of the format and replaced it with 12 maindeck pieces of artifact removal. These bannings have me looking at T2 with some hope and I may even choose to play in regionals this year knowing that something rogue has a chance.
BTW-I am buying ravagers for $1 a piece so that I can give them a proper funeral...in a fireplace.

wow! really! so you dont think it will still be played in extended? hmmmm, i hear its pretty descent there yet. anyway i am jaut glad the nuts has ended. and as for control taking over, i have a few aggro decks that wreck house on control, so oh well, random rogue stuff wins again i guess!:fingers:

Well, you are on your way. You can currently get ravagers for $5 and less on ebay. That's including shipping. Soon we will be seeing them sold in bundles at dollar stores everywhere. Yes, they're still certainly playable in Extended, but even if they dominate Extended (which they won't) they will never hit the $10+ mark again.
Also, please note that NO ONE on ebay mentions that the cards are banned in Type II. Heh. It's like selling software and not telling the buyer it only works on a Mac.

ok now listen to this. this new format in which new decks are to appear is going to be just as dull. i mean do you seriously think control is exciting? ravager is that hope for some of us quick play people. the only new deck in this format that is realitivly quick and still good is u/r counterburn. control will once again run the enviroment. now at regionals rogues dont have much of a chance simply because its to hard to overcome all those odds. net decks are on the net for a reason. because everyone uses them and they have proven to be good. i honestly dont think you realize wat this new enviroment really looks like. since march the first i have slept very little trying to work out this new format. control is all i see. now i would consider myself to be a pretty good magic player. ive been playing since the begining of urzas saga. and never have i really really enjoyed control.1 half the time you dont finish our round. 2 wheres the fun quick death? with that i said i do feel you are a pretty knowledgable player but i dont think you really see wat is going to happen. but owell hehe we will all see ever to soon. take care all.
The problem with your ideas is that Ravager wasn't just a "quick win" deck... It was a "I win faster than you have time to do anything about it and you can't stop me... Na na na na na na!"
If you like aggro, decks like Goblins are good examples, but Ravager Affinity was the most broken thing to see Type 2 since Tolarian Academy decks...
Now I remember when I first started. I opened up my first starter and had the well known Atog smiling back at me. I had just opened a revised deck and knew I would have fun with strategy and the interesting artwork of this new game. I spent the next few months secretly sniffing new Fallen Empire cards as they came out of their boosters (I seriously believe that Wizards puts coke in the ink). Since then I have amassed many cards. The first time I saw Ravager I thought it was cute. I was playing a U/B deck with fun items such as Eradicate, Willbender, and Deflection. It was an Emperor game and I was destroying my opponent, keeping my Emperor safe. Then it happened....Disciple of the Vault came into play. The best thing I could do was use a Willbender to deflect one life loss to my opponent, I then took about 30 from a myr incubator +Dotv combo. There was nothing I could do. I remember thinking back to the Squirrel's Nest combo and thinking that at least I could deal with that...as crazy as it was. Dotv can not be stopped....if it had been damage then there would be ways, but not loss of life. I am glad the evil guy has now fallen from at least one format.
Ok, Ravager is dead. But...that was a bit too much. The banned at least one Darksteel citadel too much
Citadel was part of much (red) Decks which included Shrapnel etc.
But Affinity is gone, and WW gets better and better. Nice
