Yes, it's a good idea to stick to drafting/sealed to get a feel for the new cards and build up your collection. I agree that it's better to not purchase any Innistrad/M13 cards, since they will rotate out in September. However, if you are looking to get into Standard, and you have the money, you should look at picking up playsets of the shocklands, since they are at the lowest price they will ever be.

Given my timing I'm thinking of sticking with limited until rotation before trying standard.
So most of my deck ideas are essentially ignoring innistrad/m13 I'm not sure if that is a good idea or not.
