Hey everyone! I'm a brand new member of the forum and a pretty new MtG player as well. I started with M10 and I'm playing a UB Zombie deck at the moment. It has a few cards from other blocks sprinkled in. I'm enjoying the game so far, though I still have a lot to learn. I went to my first ever FNM two days ago. I had two draws and one win. I'm pretty happy with how I fared, given the huge number of misteps I made.
Welcome! I'm curious as to how you managed to draw twice at an FNM. Reading all the cards?

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for the winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came and the grasshopper died and the octopus ate all his acorns. And also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?
Hey pookyrocks, both draws came down to final five turns. The first draw ended that way because the other guy failed to attack all out when he could have. This gave me some more time to make Zombie tokens and nail him. The second draw was indeed because I made a point to read all cards. I did pretty well with knowing what the other cards did and how they affected me. It was thoroughly knowing my own deck that gave me issues. Like I said, still a lot to learn.
We get draws at FNM a lot because there are absurdly short rounds. He was playing at a decent speed, reading the cards, trying to understand cascade, and with a lot of tokens you get some complex combat situations. On top of Agony Warp tricks.
Can't wait for Zendikar!
