The Shorecrasher Mimic may seem out of place, but if you land it on T2 and have a Giltspire Avenger, Rafiq of the Many, Finest Hour, or another Shorecrasher Mimic in your hand, you can really put the hurt on your opponent fast. I had it end several games by turn 4 or 5 after landing Mimic and then Rafiq the next turn, swinging for 14 trample on turn 3 with a Hierarch on the board.
The rounds I lost were against Vampires and a white control deck.
Against Vampires, I won the first round by the skin of my teeth. The second round I think I could have turned around but I screwed up and forgot to use my Giltspire Avenger to kill my opponent's Vampire Nighthawk. I think that mistake turned the game around. Round 3 he top decks practically all of his removal and I couldn't produce creatures fast enough to win.
The control deck was a pain. Round 1 I got him down to 8 life and he tosses down a Martial Coup and Iona next turn calling out white and swings the game in his favor, nevermind the DoJs before that. Round 2 I sided in my Ratchet Bombs and another Jace, though in hindsight I wish I would have tossed in the Meddling Mages to call out his board sweeps. He kept taking out my Sovereigns and then more board sweeps with Elspeth ready to go -8. I was not happy.
Anyway, I updated the sideboard to include more control should I need to switch gears a little. Since Iona screwed me, I figured I should run her. I figure if I could have landed her against either of the decks I lost to I would have won since they were both mono.
I tossed in Wall of Denial because I'm weak against fliers. It gave me a little more security against Vamps since I could block Nocturnus'd creatures more easily, but I'm a little on the fence about it.
It feels like the main deck is pretty solid, but I think I need a lot of help on the sideboard. Feedback is appreciated
