Blood Braid Elf is underplayed in standard now. She was in practically every deck, but after October people just suddenly stopped running her in their 75. Weird considering how good she is.
A combination of Tectonic Edge, Faeries, and the fact that control decks playing 2 colors were just as good as 4-5 color control. It's still played, but it's pretty rough playing it vs. a lot of the Extended tier 1 decks right now.
The fact of the matter is, when 2 mana (*cough stoneforge *cough Bitterblossom) cards win you the game more than a 7 mana Cruel Ultimatum, there is really no reason to play 4cc any more outside of personal preference/comfort. The thing you really would want to ask yourself, is what does 4/5cc offer that a 2 color control deck couldn't also do? UW control is just as strong vs. Aggro, and UB control (faeries specifically) operates similarly. The only reason to play 4 colors is for Cruel Ultimatum, and relying on resolving a 7 mana card in this format just isn't a smart way to attack the field.
It's extreme difficult to build properly and to play it well, that's why it doesn't see play, and the fact that sword of feast and famine is hard to handle doesn't make it any better. You cant arrange it to beat cawgo, faeries and valakut at the same time, but given a onesided metagame it could rock. Cruel Ultimatum still wins games hands down, but Spell Pierce makes it look silly.
Sigh...cruel ultimatum is such a timmy card. Not much beats the feeling of resolving one. You guys have made some good points but for some reason they don't satisfy me. Seems like the only real metagame change is SoFaF and stoneforge mystic. Is it a bandwagon thing or is cruel control gone for good?

It's still playable, but it hasn't really done anything since the start of extended.
It's not just from MBS, Cruel Control wasn't being played much once Faeries were established as the go-to deck to play.

4cc plays volcanic fallout, but that's not really enough to beat faeries by itself. If 4cc were properly tuned, it would likely be able to beat faeries, but it would be pretty bad vs. the rest of the field at that point.

Thanks, Heroes of The Planes! You guys are great!
Actual Truth:

Thanks for clarifying that. I was under the impression that it had a decent game vs faeries and was therefore the best non faeries control deck.
