Is anybody gonna head down to Louisville for the Extended winter king Tourney this coming saturday? if so, what do you think will be there. Im actually digging this because it means I get some practice for the season.
I just might, how many people should show up, is it worth the drive from FL?
most likely not. Florida is a long ways away, about a 14 hour drive for a tourney the size of a PTQ, but not. But I will post results of it for the Extended PTQ season.
I dont know the exact decklist, but I know it was a "mono Blue" control, with Spire Golems and Cryptic command and Melokus and Trinket mage w/ Top +Balance and Vensers. It also had one of every x/u shockland for Engineered Exploseves, and was a pretty good build that I was a little suprised did so well with all the zoo that was there.

So basicly another version of MUC like that finished 2nd at the Extended PTQ at Worlds.

that zoo deck looks god awful. i don't understand how that could have possibly done well. what purpose is aven mindcensor serve? randomly screw someone off a fetchland against a bad matchup? you have teeg for enduring ideal. that slot is much better served as kami/ronom to destroy enchantments imo.
4 silver knight. i guess for mirror match? except they vindicate it? or smother it if they run it in the sideboard? ???
and i absolutely h8 pithing needle in an agro deck. i HATE playing cards that don't do anything to help advance your game plan in an agro deck. playing a card that is there specifically only to prevent a card from being activated just seems underwhelming. vindicate it if you are having problems.
this decklist's manabase looks absolutely TERRIBLE. it can only flames for 4 (no blue source for whatever reason), which seems as if he is not taking advantage of flames' potential. i really don't understand this build...
EDIT: my bad, didn't see steam vents in the list. so it seems what he did with the land base is instead of running one-of dual lands to allow for domain to be achieved easier, he ran all of the lands that has red in it. this makes it harder to cast cards like vindicate imho, also, it makes it harder to achieve domain as well. i dont like this setup, but apparently it worked.
basically, im surprised it did well with all the zoo to, but then again, top counter balance with a 2 drop on top kinda locks zoo from all its burn and most of its creatures
Almost certainly the deck ran Counterbalance-Top and/or Spell Snare. Zoo barely has a chance. Venser, Trinket Mage into Engineered Explosives, Spire Golem + countermagic in one turn.... may as well pack up early.

Zoo is the underdog vs. the blue deck? you sure? how does islands beat a turn 1 monkey turn 2 any combination of monkeys/dogs/cats/fanatics? the blue deck has to draw into its e.e or else mage for it, which takes an entire turn to do. spell snare? lol, i just wait until you have to tap out to deal with my inital hoard b4 playing 2 drops. or else just play a bunch of dudes in one turn to overload your mana.
my zoo deck is a little unorthodox. i run my kami of ancient law maindeck to deal with counterbalance. i sooOOoOOoOOo h8 me some counterbalance.

3 GWB Doran Aggro
Anyone know what Robert Graves' 3rd place deck that was "withheld per request" was?
I suspect while GWB aggro will be relevant, it wont be quite that dominant.

Tog is good because it beats down doran Rock decks. There was a crap ton of Rock there and Tyler had it right for the meta.

other than a few damnations in the board, not really. People would be really suprised as to what "old-school" decks still have game.
