Well, you've still got about fourteen hours before you're infracted for noncompliance. Talk to whomever you want.
BTW, I still think analog sounds better than digital. But 'tis gone daddy gone.
Of course analog sounds better than digital. Our human ears can't hear digital, that's why the computer converts digital into analog, and analog is what comes out of the speakers.
I know what you mean though, you think music recorded on an analog tape reel sounds better than music recorded on pro tools. As a recording engineer, I respectfully disagree. Pro tools gives you a much clearer sound. It lets the sound have more depth, and all the parts can be heard by the listener. It is the difference between vinyl and CDs.
One of the amazing things about this century is all the technology we have available. I can't listen to the Beatles because the production is simply awful compared to the technology we have today. Once I listen to that crystal clear sound, I can't go back to listening to anything else, especially since I've worked around it constantly.
I believe that I have enough social competence to slip into a party or two, potentially wooing some attractive females that would not mind spending the evening performing the booty dance on me.
I used to think that too. Now I'm a total single listener. For practical reasons, downloading has changed music... And for the better IMO. Now filler really stands out as subpar.
Just my .02, but I find that most singles are usually the filler.
Please explain to me why my argument is invalid, please do not just post
You're wrong.post
I thought I already explained why you were incorrect. You're wrong, because what you posted is a logical fallacy. If I wanted to read a list on "what's popular" rather than "what's the best", I'd grab a Rolling Stone magazine.
Well put. Some of my favorite recordings of my band were from putting a crappy $10 tape recorder on the edge of a stage. The best though, IMO was from a 4-track in a room with wood floors.
It may sound obvious, but "clean" sells is it is easier to distinguish the sounds, especially for people who don't play an instrument. So, I can appreciate it too, even if I'd prefer to strain.
Some of my favorite albums are guilty of what the uninformed would consider "horrid" or "noisy" production. Where everything is ultra lo-fi, the guitars sound like wasps buzzing in a jar, and the vocals are distorted to the point where I can almost (ALMOST), not make them out. Like Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger, which is one of the best albums of all time, or at least I believe so.
Most people would be like "how can you listen to that? that's utter noise!", but no, no it's not. A trained ear can hear the notes just fine, and personally, there's a ton of charm in those kinds of albums that would be utterly lost with a sterile, glossy production job. Not to mention, I don't know how exactly raw production is handled with other genres, but when the production is used itself as a means to convey an artistic message (such as how the lo-fi, distorted sound in black metal is meant to convey atmosphere, a very cold/hateful/misanthropic energy. It's supposed to be almost hypnotic, and take the listener on a journey through their own mind, channelling a sort of uneasiness into the listener), I luuuurves it.

What he means to say, is that because a song is popular, doesn't mean it is great, and it is a logical fallacy to assume so. The masses can like 'bad' songs (and often do, in my personal opinion -_-)
Somebody try to do an objective list of 'best' of anything in music and you will fail.
To OP: Why can't the 'best' music of a century be all in one genre? I'd take a wild guess that in 1700's, classical music owned the Top10 list XD.
I approve of the presence of Lai Lai Hei in this thread (the lyrics don't suck!)

That is because it was probably one of the only genres around back then. We have such a variety of music today. There are so many good genres that it is impossible to say that one genre has the 10 best songs.
I believe that I have enough social competence to slip into a party or two, potentially wooing some attractive females that would not mind spending the evening performing the booty dance on me.

I don't see how you can make a "YOUR" top 10 list and then put restrictions on what people can and can't put in that list. If someone thinks that all metal should be in the top 10 list, then that is "Their" best top 10 list. You can't tell someone to post their opinion and then try to put restrictions on that opinion. with that being said,
1. Cradle of Filth- Shat out of Hell.
This is the "opening track" to Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder and this song is just in your face right out of the gates. I was anxious to see how the album would turn out with the line up change after Thornography and I was unbelievably impressed with what Cradle of Filth came up with. They went with fast riffs, and in your face blast beats that needed to make an appearance in a Cradle of Filth album. Dani also finds his best vocal style since the band began. If I want to listen to a song that makes me mash the gas pedal and roll the windows down I go with Shat out of Hell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtxAiwLkwyw
2. Amon Amarth- Cry of the Blackbirds. This is one band that just gets better and better with every album release. I think they are the pinnacle of how Melodic Death Metal should sound. The mix of the lead guitar melodies mixed with the super fast paced rhythm guitar make for an unforgettable song that just gets stuck in your head. Johan Hegg has the perfect metal voice and Fredrik Andersson makes stupidly hard drumming look like a 4 year old can do it. He just effortlessly plays super fast rhythms. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxTzQ3nRtas
3. Metallica- Master of Puppets. Do I really need an explanation as to why this makes it on the list? This might be the metal anthem. Every metalhead and even a lot of people who don't like metal in general know that when Master of Puppets comes on, it's time to rock out. Everything about this song is perfect. The awesome riffs, kick ass lyrics, and a wicked ass solo make this song easily in the top 3. OBEY YOUR MASTER! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z-hEyVQDRA
4. Children of Bodom- Kissing the Shadows. Children of Bodom have gone downhill ever since the release of Are You Dead Yet? However the earlier releases show you just what Children of Bodom can accomplish and this is what you have to look forward to. The combination of Alexi, Jaska, Henkka, Janne, and Alexander is something that is hard to match. I can't find a single thing wrong with this song except the fact that I have seen them live 5 times and they haven't played it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8F3t-F_grc
5. Septic Flesh- Virtues of the Beast. It is going to be very hard to find a band that has a more epic sound than Septic Flesh. Septic Flesh ditches the stereotype "metal must be fast and aggressive or it's not metal" for a much slower, deeper, and melodic sound. They use Gothic style choirs, and use the mighty vocal growl of Sotiris V. to complete the sound. Dark lyrics just round out the entire package. Septic Flesh goes to show that you don't need to be utterly fast and brutal to make great metal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVt7Rl_LTLc
6. Satyricon- K.I.N.G. This song is unbelievably basic and yet still catchy and dark. The lyrics are Satan based just like every other Norwegian Black Metal band in existence but yet they are still pretty vivid in describing the KING! Not really a Norwegian Black Metal fan but this song proves that not all hope is lost for the genre. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQQdsKH3Qt8
7. In Flames- Embody the Invisible. In Flames was one of the proprietors of Swedish Death Metal (more widely known as Melodic Death Metal). The colony album is when they started to hit the peak of their career and in my opinion have not yet started to descend from that peak yet. Embody the Invisible is everything awesome about a Melodeath song, sweet riffs, awesome lyrics and vocals, and lots and lots of melody. Not to mention a pretty sweet melody from 1:40-2:10. Best Melodic riff in metal IMO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi1-vpnfUQ0
8. Megadeth- In My Darkest Hour. Never has simplicity been so awesome. The most basic of all riffs matches perfectly to the deep sound of the song. But it doesn't stay that way for long. It goes from slow to fast in an instant. Dave Mustaine really knows how to write his material with great lyrics to match. Solos are super fast with some kick ass shredding to boot. The only problem I have with this song is that Dave Mustaine can't sing for ☺☺☺☺. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebvmS9Mr26g
9. Dimmu Borgir- Kings of the Carnival Creation. Dimmu really outdid themselves with the Puritanical album and this is the best song on it. From the moment this song starts you know it is going to be evil and ominous. Filled lots with lots of fast riffs and superb blast beats, plus the winning combination of Shagrath's voice and Silenoz's lyrics, it really makes for an awesome song. Puritanical is the first album they really decided to use orchestration and to really utilize ICS Vortex voice. You can tell that this is pulling away from the traditional Black Metal style of music and creating a whole new style of Black Metal which is just awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeITMxApxKw
Arch Enemy- Enemy Within. Enemy Within is Angela Gossow's debut track with the band and it proves how well she fits the bands sound. She is aggressive and abrasive which is just what Arch Enemy needed. The riffs are intense and the intro is the best intro in Swedish Death Metal that I have ever heard. Daniel Erlandsson really shows that he can trump his brother when it comes to kicking ass, and the Amott duo kick so much ass that you'll probably go blind. Awesome melody mixed with awesome vocals mixed with awesome rhythms mixed with awesome solos makes for one kick ass song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrSqeS8Ya-E
6. Satyricon- K.I.N.G. This song is unbelievably basic and yet still catchy and dark. This kinda makes me want to break out all of my dusty Satyricon CD's and re-upload them to my computer. I always forget that I own them.
Then again, as far as I remember K.I.N.G. was the only good song on that entire album, if not one of the only good songs in their entire discography :/

Satyricon were only worthwhile from 1993 to 1996. Everything they've done since then has ranged from mediocre to garbage.
Like Dracosavant said, Satyricon's only worthwhile albums are the first few. Not only that, but K.I.N.G. isn't even a black metal song... A case could be made for "black n roll" but that's stretching it.
Blooddrunk is a great Bodom album, and the third best they've done behind FTR and Hatebreeder.
