Darkest Hour's "Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation" is an absolute masterpiece. 10/10. They are easily one of the best groups playing a combo of hardcore and melodic death metal out there. They didn't really use "clean" singing until the release of Undoing Ruin, so if you want that contrast I'd recommend that cd first but otherwise I'd start with Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation or Mark of the Judas.
Check out some Bleeding Through. I'd recommend their cd "Portrait of the Goddess". Their latest one "Declaration" was really good too.
Unearth is great. You can't go wrong with any of their cds.
Converge is great, but I don't think you'd get into them so much if A Day to Remember is your gateway into metal/hardcore combined. Still, they are amazing and any cd by them is worth checking out (Axe to Fall, their latest is awesome).
From Autumn to Ashes put out some great cds before they broke up. I'd recommend any of those.
I Killed the Prom Queen's 2 full lengths and EP are all good. Definately worth checking out.
I'd also check out:
Eternal Lord
War of Ages
Nerve Gas Tragedy
Dead to Fall
All That Remains
I have a hard time making out a difference between metalcore and what most people call hardcore nowadays (for me hardcore is Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, DOA, Husker Du, etc... 80s era fast punk). So my recommendations are probably gonna fall anywhere in the vast region of what you guys consider hardcore and metalcore.
Check this out. I can't speak on all the bands mentioned but all I have heard that are mentioned fit the profile to some degree at least. A7X is my favorite of the bunch although I am from the same city they are. Same high school even. Killswitch has been growing on me of late as has Trivium. I'm not the biggest metalcore fan, but if the band sounds good, Ima listen.
Umm..A Day To Remember =/= Metalcore. They are a mix of Pop Punk and Hardcore not Metal and Hardcore(regardless of the Death growl).
I HIGHLY recommend Four Year Strong and Set Your Goals. Both are VERY similar to A Day To Remember. When you start working your way into liking the harder stuff I highly recommend Darkest Hour. They were my starter hardcore band back in the day when my friend gave me the previously mentioned "Hidden Hands Of The Sadist Nation" and "Mark of The Judas". A more melodic and poppy metalcore band would be Vanna. Their newest album has a good balance of hard and soft tracks. The first half of the album is actually really soft.
Once you fully transition into the "real" Metalcore. Come back to this thread and check out August Burns Red, Parkway Drive, Unearth, Converge, and Protest The Hero. You won't be disappointed but I think a lot of what was suggested in this thread will be a little harsh if you are expecting stuff similar to A Day To Remember because they are often miscatagorized and a popular term hasn't really come up to describe them more correctly. Only term I've heard is Easycore and that hasn't caught on at all.
EDIT: THE WONDER YEARS. Very much the same deal as SYG, FYS and ADTR.
Converge
Coalesce
Botch
Still Remains
Misery Signals
The Bled (first 2 albums only)
That's all I could really say I can like of metalcore these days. There use to be some good locals of my area the 5 to 10 years ago, but I doubt you'd be able to find much from them.
ABACABB, Abacinate, Molotov Cocktail, Arsonists Get All The Girls <3, Attack Attack, Dance Gavin Dance, Dr. Acula, Forsaken The Sky, Gwen Stacy, I See Stars, I Set My Friends on Fire, iwrestledabearonce, Miss May I, Salt The Wound, A Skylit Drive, Underoath, Winds of Plague, Years Spent Cold.
This list is broad in the genre, but it can all be considered metalcore, more heavier than others. Enjoy.
Norma Jean were the Godfathers of metalcore for me. They got me into this genre' of music, and I can honestly say that without them I would probably be some douchey wigger still. I'd suggest them HIGHLY.
I'd also try;
Heaven Shall Burn
The Chariot
A Life Once Lost
Darkest Hour
Bring me the Horizon
From Autumn to Ashes (Though they're more hxc. but they're amazing.)
Converge
The Bled
The Sound of Animals Fighting

I think it would help if people would stop posting Deathcore, Tech Death Metal, Hardcore, Death Metal, and stuff that's not really all to Metalcore.
From what I've learn about Genres...Trivium, Protest the Hero, Between the Buried and Me, Bullet For My Valentine, and Fear Before.
Thos bands are listed as Metalcore as a subgenre.
Anyways, no offense to anyone y'all listed a ton of great bands.
It's just when I see Converge, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Darkest Hour listed as Metaclore I raise a brow and say to myself "Really now?"
I guess some songs are considered a little bit Metalcore.
I just saw to much Deathcore and Post-Hardcore listed.
But yeah Liliana listen to what everyones' suggested they all have great taste.
Thank you. That just summed up my thoughts exactly.
Keep in mind that Metalcore is more like a 50/50 split of screaming and clean vocals/singing, and the screaming is most definitely not growling (BMTH, though they hate the description deathcore they are just that).
Id would absolutely suggest blessthefall as option number one. My favorite band ever and theyre so funny. Also these are more of post-hardcore type bands like ADTR:
Escape The Fate
Of Machines
Vanna
Avenues and Silhouettes
Dance Gavin Dance
And some good real metalcore bands:
All That Remains
Bullet For My Valentine
Protest The Hero

Not to turn this into a genre war or anything like that, but Converge is textbook metalcore. Hell Converge has been doing it longer than anybody save Coalesce really. Darkest Hour on the other hand could be a little more disputed since their last two releases. They certainly have started to move away from metalcore influences, but Hidden Hands is certainly a metalcore take on a MDM style. So Sedated So Secure is metalcore. Just out of curiosity, what would you consider them as?
I agree with your suggestions though and would say that if you're (OP) looking for amazing metalcore, try Between the Buried and Me - The Silent Circus or Self Titled. If you like more progressive elements to your metalcore, go with Colors and The Great Misdirect.
The suggestions in this thread have been all over the place with lots of incredibly different artists being suggested.
My main suggestion for the thread is check out Between the Buried and Me, possibly The Human Abstract if you can get past the bad vox and wherever you see "Attack Attack" in this thread, replace that with HORSE the band.

Darkest Hour can be named their own genre, like Melodic Progressive Thrash.
I don't care for genres all to much, but I know when something is not Metalcore. That's all, but yeah some of the suggestions are just thrown in here.

Metalcore is a bridging of Hardcore and Metal.
There tends to be a bit of confusion with regards to Metalcore because it has had a few "waves". Modern Metalcore bands like Killswitch Engage and Unearth don't sound the same as mid-late 90's metalcore bands like Catharsis, Converge and Integrity due to the evolution of music. The metalcore scene grew out of the hardcore scene and there are a lot of bands that blur the lines between the two.
More technical or progressive "mathcore" (hate that term) bands like Dillinger Escape Plan or Between the Buried and Me are also Metalcore. They are Progressive Metal too. Sometimes bands fit into multiple genres (that's where you get "Progressive Death Metal", "Doom-Death Metal" and other such genres). Deathcore is metalcore with more of a straight up death metal influence. It isn't wrong to call a deathcore band a metalcore band at all, you are just being more precise when you use the term deathcore.
There is no requirement for vocal style in metalcore. Clean vocals are certainly not required in metalcore at all. Metalcore doesn't require "Screaming verses, clean vocal choruses". You can have grunts, screams, growls, or hardcore shouting style vocals in metalcore.
Darkest Hour isn't a strictly metalcore band, but they've had music in that vein (as well as Melodic Death Metal).
Black Dahlia Murder is pretty much a straight up Melodic Death Metal band that wear there love of At the Gates and similar bands on their sleeves proudly.
