San Francisco in 1840s compared to San Francisco in the 1910s? Yea. It sounds arguably reasonable to me. It seems crazy that technology goes so fast but look back at the 1980s. Damn.
Still no word of an official air date, but OMG J. K. SIMMONS NARRATING!!!
EDIT: The video has been taken down, so here's the transcript:
"Earth. Fire. Air. Water. When I was a boy, my father, Avatar Aang, told me the story of how he and his friends heroically ended the 100-year war. Avatar Aang and Firelord Zuko transformed the Fire Nation Colonies into the United Republic of Nations, a society where benders and non-benders from all over the world could live and thrive together in peace and harmony. They named the capital of this great land Republic City. Avatar Aang accomplished many remarkable things in his life, but sadly, his time in this world came to an end, and like the cycle of the seasons, the cycle of the Avatar began anew."
The show title in the clip was Avatar: Legend of Korra, so it might be an older version. Also, the title card of the first episode was shown: Book One: Air, Chapter One: Welcome to Republic City.

The Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom. Many of the people have spent their entire lives there, some of whom are of Earth Kingdom descent, and none want their homes taken from them.
Anyway, I came here for other reasons.
Nick has a commercial for its new shows in 2012, and Korra is among them! (Though, the scenes are only rough animation/concept art.) And best of all: AVATAR is back in the title!!! Bo-yeah!
I truly can't wait for this. Haven't watched a good cartoon series in quite some time. The last one I was into was the Clone Wars, and that was only for the first two seasons. Love me some Airbending.
About Frox: for nearly 10 years, Frox has been helping women look good and feel great in easy-fit, mix-and-match, and work-to-weekend with just a few pieces by helping them make the right choices when it comes to clothing and accessories.
Just got finished watching these and they are beyond phenomenal
this,
also to note is the animation is slightly better and it looks awesome and the score is as good as last airbender, this show is super special awesome in so meany ways

Just watched the first two episodes. Not bad. Not bad at all.
I have to preface this by saying that I LOVED Aang and his character. It was such a different take on the main character role, and I thought it worked well. Korra is very different, and while I'm not quite as infatuated, I can see this series working out pretty well. The other characters also will have tall shoes to fill, but I'm optimistic. I'm calling this being a pretty legit series!

First two seasons were the best, third was horrible, and fourth was okay (a few gem arcs with the rest being lackluster). In short, you haven't missed all that much.

The animation was great. Very fluid and more detailed. Tenzin is such a good character. He is so much fun and reminded me of Iroh.
Probending was also very fresh and exciting.
However Korra and Mako's personalities seem pretty bland. There's nothing to them. they are extremely cookie cutter. Mako wasn't even the slightest interested in Korra until he found out she was the avatar. Oh you're the avatar, suddenly I care.
Watched it with the kids this morning, thought they did well with the show. It was interesting to see that they made her the total opposite, which probably means she's going to have issues with getting into the whole "spiritual side" of things. Different is good, and keeping the technological level down a bit will also keep it seem wistful of the past with casters.
I really don't think that Korra's so much the problem as Mako may turn out to be, and eventually it'll depend on the main villain. Considering the original he's probably going to be Ty Lee's son.
The whole "what happened to Zuko's Mom" was played up, but still remains unexplained.

I enjoyed avatar as a child, I saw the two premiere episodes when they released it online for US and it was great. It made me excited for this series but then toonami came back and it was like...
I liked the first 2 episodes, but got go a long way match the original series. Also the show lacks Toph. Old Katara was a good touch, but to me Toph should also still be around too. Cross fingers they explore the 70 or so year gab in future episodes. One being what happened to Zuko's mom? Also a weird side of me sees the main bad being one of Aang's kids mentioned, but yet to appear on the show.
The animation was great. Very fluid and more detailed. Tenzin is such a good character. He is so much fun and reminded me of Iroh.
Probending was also very fresh and exciting.
My only problem with Probending is that earthbenders seem like they're at such a disadvantage. The water and fire for the other benders is theoretically limitless, while earthbenders have a finite number of those discs to work with.

It was more of a "oh, you're not just some random fangirl that my brother brought in" combined with "oh, you actually have the skills and determination needed to be good in my sport."
Did Korra remind anyone else of Chandra?

To me Korra reminded me a mix of Toph meets Katara in personality. Which is not a bad thing, but a good thing.

Probably better than the 1st season, IMHO. I'm looking forward to this show much more than I was before.
