I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Venture Brothers, and it's not really close.
HMs to Futurama, Daria, Rocco's Modern Life, and about a dozen more.
Venture Brothers as well. I find myself still quoting that ridiculous show years later. And, I still have a handful of my Venture Brothers altered cards floating around.
As far as anime:
Naruto, Samurai Champloo. I actually enjoyed Zatch Bell too, for some odd reason. I remember there was a point where we had 3 consecutive Kamigawa block PTQ's, and that was on the tube each time I stumbled in home from one of those exhausted.
But there are a few others I absolutely adore; Angry Beavers, Ed, Edd 'n Eddy, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Samurai Jack, Wolf's Rain and few I'm probably forgetting right now.

We have laboured long to build a heaven, only to find it populated with horrors.
So ☺☺☺☺ing underrated. I was the perfect age for this a good time it was running.
It's hard to pick a favorite. It's hard to pick between The Simpsons and Futurama for me, and that's not even including anime, at least one of which would probably overtake them if it weren't for the fact that I'm really not sure what my favorite anime is. Maybe Monster. Cowboy Bebop is great but a bit overrated.

"Virtue, Jacques, is an excellent thing. Both good people and wicked people speak highly of it..."
Am I the only one who thinks that American Dad has surpassed Family Guy in terms of funny?
Not to say either one deserves to be called the best. That pretty much has to go to Futurama. HMs to early Simpsons, and King of the Hill.
Not at all. In all honesty, I think it was really always the case. Despite American Dad's derivation from Family Guy, which was in itself a derivation from the Simpsons...it was still a more original sitcom in its premise, had more polished humor, and while it did veer from its original focus and concept after a season or two as did its predecessor, it still managed to make itself generally work, and do so without overdosing on references to the point it barely has 10-minute stories. As far as I'm concerned, Family Guy has sunk to the point that it's a single quality joke per season above being schlock on the level of Drawn Together. Oh yes. I went there.
About any "subpar" mechanics or cards: Context is king.
If I make a templating or grammar error, let me know.
The franchise MtG most resembles is Battlestar Galactica. Why? Its players exist in, at most, a dozen different models at any given point in time, with perhaps up to 3% variation, 5% if you're lucky.
Family Guy
Touché salesman
Historically? The Simpsons.

WUBRGPauper Battle BoxWUBRG ... and why I am not a fan of Wayne Reynolds' Illustrations.
Gigantor for Japanese cartoons.
Both directly impacted everything animated that came after them.
Personal picks:
American: Samurai Jack
Japanese: Macross
Drama: Deathnote
Comedy: Classic Looney Toons, these were the golden days of animation
According to this study I should be deaf by now.
Banner made by: Spiderboy4 :o:o:o
It shouldn't be "dies"
It shouldn't be "is put into the graveyard from the battlefield"
It should be "is put into the graveyard from play"
Amen to that. Amazing show.
Avatar is another great non-comedy series.

Cowboy Bebop, I'd say.
