Did anyone here catch the season premiere? I thought it was fantastic.
It was a departure from the normal routine and we actually saw House's character grow (and be genuine for once!). I hope we get to see that doctor -- Dr. Nolan, was it? -- more throughout the season. Franka Potente was my favorite guest star here, though. She's great in anything, and her character Lydia was playful and kind.
Anyway...this is shaping up to be an interesting season!
It was a good change of pace from what the show is like normally. And I do agree with Binary... although they could easily through a wrench into things.
Since season 3 the shows have been pretty hit or miss, but I'd say this is one of the better ones they've done lately.
I wasn't crazy about the end, though. It felt like everything fell into place a little too well with the mute woman and "Freedom Master".
The fact that it looks like House is going back to being a complete jerk right away is kinda annoying, too. At least for season 3 they gave him a couple episodes to ease back into being crippled.
Technically speaking, House's recuperation was 2 episodes, they just showed them back to back. I personally would have rather seen it stretched out to 4-5, though.
The ending with the "I want to get better" line made my sister cry. It was pretty funny, especially since we noticed this 2 seconds after my mother said she was almost ready to cry.
The basketball game where he was 'working with people' was fairly hilarious, I'm a recovered anorexic and I even thought it was pretty cute. I'll admit it did fall into place fairly quickly but the part where 'Freedom Master' jumped off the edge gave things a harsh dose of reality although it would have been harsher had have not survived and would have thrown an interesting curveball into the episode.
In K-PAX, Prot helps 'cure' a few patients while his stay on Earth; House did that, and played the role of the psycologist trying to 'help' Prot- he learned a lesson.
I missed pretty much all of last season, so i'll try to keep track of this...

I wish House's recuperation had taken more than one episode. It looks like they're right back to the formula next week.
Agreed,
I predicted twoards the start that the seasons was going to be much more about him in the asylum as he manages to use his Sherlock Holmes skills to fix the various mental patients. That could have lasted at least 6 episodes.
Now its back to "how crazy can we make THIS weeks medical mystery"
Well, the premiere is finally up on Hulu. (Incidentally, why the eight-day delay? It means people like me can never catch up to the broadcast now, which seems like it would be bad for viewership.)

Would have been a little gimmicky, though. Besides, he's not a shrink; he's an expert in normal human psychology.
The episode was very One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest at first, but I like how it evolved into something much less phobic of the mental health system. I agree with Norton that the events of the ending were a little unbelievable, and only in TV Land could an antisocial mental patient get some hot German lovin'. But the character play worked out well, and I'm eager to see more of Dr. Nolan, who is definitely not the Vogler 2.0 I had him pegged as.

Vive, vale. Siquid novisti rectius istis,
candidus inperti; si nil, his utere mecum.
When they were still posting episodes on their own site (I haven't checked to see if they started doing it again), they had an 8 day wait, so it isn't that surprising. No idea why; perhaps in case they need to censor something for future airings. It'd be nice if they dropped it to 4-6 days, though (as you said, for people trying to catch up).
As for last night's episode:
It wasn't bad, but it really wasn't one of the best. The House bits were excellent and mostly funny (though the meatball jokes did go on longer than they should have), but the Foreman/13 bits weren't all that interesting to me. It looks like Dr. Nolan is here to stay for at least an arc, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get another real "villain" halfway through the season like previous seasons.
As a computer programmer and gamer, the handling of all things computer and/or game related in that episode made me cringe. Writers are talented in that they can get away with knowing next to nothing about what they are writing about and yet still get paid.
I think the only people who can be wrong more often and still keep their jobs are meteorologists.
I eagerly await next week's episode, where James Earl Jones plays a dying dictator.
Don't get me wrong, I love House but this season is starting to grate especially with the whole tell-tale heart thing. Honestly, another episode that goes over that and I'm going to consider watching something else.

I agree. I'm a big fan, but I thought last night's episode was terrible all around. I can't remember ever seeing an episode I disliked as much.
I'm also sick to death of the story of Chase's murder. While I don't think they should have just waved it away after one episode, I really just wish they hadn't done it in the first place. They just wrote themselves into a corner and no matter what they do to get out of it is going to seem ridiculous.

With that being said I like too add that I think this should be the last season of house. It's still somewhat on it's peak, and right after that you should quit:P

Tay, that's not evolution. It's metamorphosis. Evolution means descent with heritable modification – individuals cannot evolve, unless they're Pokemon.

Watching this season, it gives me the impression that the show is winding down. The 'new team' is completely gone, but the old team really doesn't have anything to actually do. The show has always been formulaic, but I think that the formula has run it's course. They probably won't conclude this year, but I'll be extremely surprised if they run past next season.
At least, I hope they don't. I love the show, but I don't want to see it get ruined. FOX is bad about cancelling some shows when it is obviously early(Firefly, Arrested Development, the first run of Family Guy), but letting others run infinitely past their prime(Simpsons is the first that comes to mind here).
The ratings are too good for the show to be canceled. But I agree that it seems to be winding down. The season premiere could very well have been a series finale if they wanted to do it that way. The last episode (with the porn star with the eye issue) was very weak, but the one before that was excellent. We'll see...
eh. aside from the wonderful season premiere and a few episodes afterwards, i'm about to give up on this show.
it is resembling a bad soap opera waaaay too much for my liking (much more than it has previously done...).
seriously:
1) Chase & Cameron = blah blah Blech! enough already.
2) 13 & Foreman = blah blah blech Blech!!! even worse than the C & C medical-love factory.
3) Cuddy & House = back and forth, back and forth... oooo! new twist! back and forth.
i'm getting quite fed up with this show real quickly.

Quote from "Mysticake" »
(about the English language) It's kinda like a raft that was cobbled together from parts of three different boats and since then has been kept barely afloat with crude repairs every time a leak appeared.
"Wilson" was a great episode, after two absolutely horrible episodes. I loved seeing the cameras watch Wilson and I'm sure this was a fan-pleaser, since many people say Wilson's their favorite supporting character. I cannot believe they're still talking about Cuddy, but whatever. I also have to say that the parts where House (or his team) would randomly show up while Wilson's working on his case were laugh-out-loud hilarious. I seriously couldn't stop laughing at some of the one-liners they'd say. It just goes to show how crazy House's cases are to someone who doesn't know all of the details (as if they're not insane enough when you ARE in on the fun).
EDIT: I'm sure that episode also was intended to take the bite off Cameron leaving the show...
Quick question for whoever saw last night's episode (it was the Cuddy-cenetric one)
Did House confess he was sleeping with the ugly pharmacy tech. who was fired for stealing pills? I missed the conversation him and Cuddy had in her car when she was about ready to quit.

No, I don't recall him ever admitting having anything to do with Gail before Cuddy asked him that day.
