I voted for the Order of the Phoenix. It has the most dynamic range with Harry's emotions. The ending starting from where Sirius punches Lucious to the end is the best part of any of the movies. The Dumbledore/Voldemort battle is fantastic and the montage when Voldemort gets inside Harry is good too.
I will say that the first one probably holds the most sentimental value though. It really did bring the whole magic and wonder that makes Harry Potter so enjoyable. The last 4 movies really lost that with the vast change in art direction they took and the wonder of that world really changed. I could ramble on about all of these movies though.

ramble away. I did.
As much as I was disappointed in Order of the Phoenix, I definately agree the "Voldemort in Harry's head" scene was excellent and very moving. I glad you reminded me of it!

(about the English language) It's kinda like a raft that was cobbled together from parts of three different boats and since then has been kept barely afloat with crude repairs every time a leak appeared.
I was a huge fan of the first two, as they stayed, in my mind, truest to the books (of which I was a huge fan). The second also had Dobby, who was one of my favorite characters as a kid. The first Dumbledore played the role soooo much better as well (the first one was very grandfatherly, the second one was too harsh). It was too bad that he died.
I hear a lot of praise for the third, which I can see. There were just so many massive changes (new castle, new Dumbledore, stopped wearing the robes, etc.) that ruined what was probably a really good movie.
My only massive gripe was with the fourth, as I felt they wrecked my second favorite book:
-No dobby (though they did pull off a decent replacement job)
-Wasted Rita Skeeter (most irritating character until Umbridge and she shows up two times, and you lose most of her impact)
-Barty Crouch Jr. was screwed up (he was supposed to be this innocent little kid who everyone thinks is wrongly accused setting up for a massive double plot twist at the end. Instead the guy looks like Satan from the beginning, and the ending isn't nearly as surprising).
-Didn't have the fudge vs Dumbledore at the end in the hospital wing. Seriously that was one of my favorite parts of the book!

How are so many people such fans of the last movie? The film I feel is the best equivolent to it is John Carter.
The story is spoon fed (even beyond the book's level), the effects range from great to only OK, and the entire thing is padded with stuff (blurry action, explosions, landscpaes, etc.). The only significant differnce is the casting, because HP landed such great actors in many of the side roles. That movie can only be called great if you are already heavily invested in the series.
And yes, I will continue to be confused how people managed to be so invested in the last half of the series from the narrative alone.
