Sorry haven't heard of him before this, nor have i seen him in any of the streams i watch so i honestly wouldn't know and im not about to refute a claim like that given how little information i have.
He's this dude, here's his Youtube account. If you ever need a general tipping point for what works on junglers, need the tier list, or just general information go to him.
So, what's everyones thoughts on darius after almost a week? I've busy day twoing at gp anaheim (aaaand breaking my 8-0 streak to go 10-5 and end up 78th of 938,
Darius is absolutely nutters at level 5-7 (toplane). If you can reliably Q someone in the bonus damage range there's just about no way they can fight back through it. You can very easily decide when and where you want to commit. I go 9/21/0, with a runepage of armor pen reds, armor quints and seals, and scaling mr blues.

After thinking about it and playing against quite a few Darius here is what I think needs to happen with him:
1. Change his passive to physical damage. As it is it is extremely hard to itemize defense against him as if you build armor his passive will kill you, if you build MR his skills will kill you, and if you build health to counter his ult, he will just slaughter you. It's like old Irelia where there was no good defensive options against her.
2. Change his ult to going down to 5 seconds or something on kills. The instant refresh is horrible to play against and horrible to play with as he will KS every kill.
3. Possibly change his damage a bit so he doesn't snowball so hard. If he gets one kill in lane it's almost impossible to come back from that.

Honestly, I find building a tiny bit of health (to make sure he basically cant q q ult you to death) and a lot of armor works well. That and that sustain in general just wrecks him in lane phase.
2. Change his ult to going down to 5 seconds or something on kills. The instant refresh is horrible to play against and horrible to play with as he will KS every kill.
I kind of agree with this, I really don't think his ult is as OP as people are saying (or if it is, maybe just in the pure damage it deals) but I think that totally removing the refresh would make it really bad.
3. Possibly change his damage a bit so he doesn't snowball so hard. If he gets one kill in lane it's almost impossible to come back from that.
That's how a lot of tops are, though. That's why I hate playing top in fact. But yea, he is pretty snowbally. But he almost has to be because of his awful late game.
Hhe's pretty slow and his "gap closer" is hardly worth that name [...] As soon as teamfights roll around, he's just not that awesome.
Exactly. Once teamfights roll around he's possibly the worst bruiser in the game. All he ever does is finish people off when your team has already won the teamfight, then people see "DARIUS QUADRA KILL" and call him OP. He has **** mobility, low utility for a bruiser, pretty low damage, and no innate tankiness.
Quote from Sepiriel »
Also it's interesting how much Ar.Pen you guys stack on the guy considering his gap closer already covers that.
Armor penetration is an exponentially scaling stat, your first 10 is always less valuable than your next 10 until you get to the point where you're already hitting 0 armor. This is because armor's damage mitigation is logarithmic - you take 10 armor off of 50 armor, you get what, 5% more damage? 10 armor off of 10 armor though is like 20% or something IIRC... whatever the exact numbers are, you get the point.
So on people with inherent, flat (due to the way percent is applied after your flat) armor penetration or magic penetration, it's even better than on other people.
Magic pen is the same way. This is why if you want to absolutely roll over your lane opponent as vlad midgame you could theoretically build sorc boots, guise, and scepter - the main reason you dont is if people stack mr all that mpen is basically wasted, and because scepter is not always great for vlad*.
*because it has a max range that's kind of short, so if you tag them with hemoplague at around it's maximum range (happens pretty often actually) it won't get the benefit
So Renekton Bot has been doing some champion spotlights. For those who don 't know who he is, he is quite possible the most popular forum poster on the Riot forums.
He has easily the best and most informative spotlights I have ever seen.

kinda like people were stacking armor against talon. they would be doing the same thing here and it kinda pigeon holes the whole thing.
[quote]2. Change his ult to going down to 5 seconds or something on kills. The instant refresh is horrible to play against and horrible to play with as he will KS every kill.
I don't think that he covered this but he might have. The thing is it is meant as an execution skill. it is suppose to finish off people. also it is main damage skill kinda like kat. his other skills are suppose to lead into that one.
kill securing in this game is important. to i don't understand why people are so worried about their k/d/a ratio's. that is not what is important taking out the inhibitor is.
I don't care if someone gets a kill as long as it is a kill.
3. Possibly change his damage a bit so he doesn't snowball so hard. If he gets one kill in lane it's almost impossible to come back from that.
yeah but he has a negative as well. he has no sustain and very little CC. he has that one pull but that is about it.
by later game people have enough items built for him.

First off I get a feeling Morello is going to end up eating Crow on a lot of what he has said so far on Darius as he is being stubborn on a lot of things and has it in his mind that Darius is close to perfect if you read his posts.
1. The problem I have though and I have seen a lot of people complain about this is there is no way to itemize defense against him. His passive is around a third to half his non-true damage depending on your armor in lane, meaning you also have to get MR against him. Basically this is the same problem that Irelia and J4 had were their was no way to itemize against their damage well, and both were changed because of it.
2. I know it is an execution skill, but when you have people playing against him and people with him on their team both complaining about it then that means that the skill is not only anti-fun for them, but is harmful for the game experience. No matter what they say I hate that his ult refreshes both when I play against him and when I play with him on my team, and most other people feel this way. This is something that needs to change as only the people playing as Darius like it and even they have admitted it's not fun for others.
3. It's fine to have some snowballing, but when you are by far the most feat or famine champ in the game, more than Tryn or LeBlanc then that's a problem. If he kills you once most champs can't even lane against him and have to sit at tower. If he gets even a little behind he is pretty much useless. That's just bad design. His feast/famine is way too high and needs to be flattened out a bit.
Basically the problem with Darius is not so much that he is OP, but that he is just poorly designed. A big part of his appeal is anti-fun for both his team and his enemies, he is extremely difficult to itemize against, and his ability to snowball or fall behind is way too high and swingy. Sure he has weakness, like Ashe, but that doesn't change the fact he is poorly designed.
If they did this then people would just stack armor early game and it would cause problems. it this is more about build issues than anything else.
Fun fact: 90% of top lane bruisers are countered by stacking armor. Don't believe me? Build Ninja Tabi + Wriggle's Lantern or a Chain Vest and watch as their damage turns to zero.
Ultimately the problem with this is that Darius is scariest before level 6. That's before he gets his ultimate. His R might be gated by mana, but the rest of his kit isn't. His Q and W are both insanely strong trading skills and you never use E unless you're going in for the kill.
kinda like people were stacking armor against talon. they would be doing the same thing here and it kinda pigeon holes the whole thing.
That's how you win top lane
yeah but he has a negative as well. he has no sustain and very little CC. he has that one pull but that is about it.
The problem with the sustain argument is that you can itemize sustain in the form of a vampiric scepter and win your lane anyways. Sustain is very cheap to itemize for.

Oh my god... Darius's insane brother, Ranged AD axe thrower... yay...
Range: 525
Wicked Blades Draven's Critical Strikes deal bonus physical damage over time. Spinning Axe also causes this effect even if it does not Critically Strike.
Spinning Axe Draven's next attack will deal bonus damage. This axe will ricochet off the target high up into the air. If Draven catches it, he automatically readies another Spinning Axe. Draven can have two Spinning Axes at once.
Blood Rush Draven gains increased Movement Speed and Attack Speed. The Movement Speed bonus decreases rapidly over its duration. Catching a Spinning Axe will refresh the cooldown of Blood Rush.
Stand Aside Draven throws his axes, dealing physical damage to targets hit and knocking them aside. Targets hit are slowed.
Whirling Death Draven hurls two massive axes to deal physical damage to each unit struck. Whirling Death slowly reverses direction and returns to Draven after striking an enemy champion. Draven may also activate this ability while the axe is in the flight to cause it to return early. Deals less damage for each unit it hits and resets when the axes reverse direction.

I like the design, I like the flavor, I like throwing axes... but I am not a big ranged AD person. I am hoping he'll be more of a ranged AD Caster given his abilities and lower attack range, but I am not holding up hope.
Overall I haven't been impressed with their recently released champions as most of them have either been boring and one of them has been anti-fun.

Feels like they're going to try and go with a graves flavor design. You can play him ranged but they want you to get in close. I think it's interesting that their approach with Draven is you get rewarded for going in close, not that your kit wants you to get close.
I've been dunking people all night as Darius, it's probably the most ridiculous lane I've played in quite some time. Top lane is naturally a snowball lane, but Darius scales up so insanely well that it's super hard to make a comeback against him unless your jungler plays divine intervention.
What's really scary is that I've been playing purple a lot, so stealing the enemy's blue buff is not an impossibility. Once you take away what little gating his Q-W spam has (lolwut?) he just becomes so much scarier to deal with.
I actually had a rather interesting mirror match top lane. When my opponent got his E at level 2 I jumped on him for an immediate first blood. Their jungler ended up camping the lane for 6 levels but I still ended up going 8/2 off both of them. Now, granted, I had a ward on their blue buff bush and our mid had a ward on their middle entrance so I knew that they were camping me, but still I was getting camped out by them. Once I hit six I just demolished both of them with ease. I even 2v1'd them on their tower and came out alive. They weren't unfed at that point either, I just dunked them both for insane damage.

I get the feeling that Draven is probably going to have to go top and be more of a ranged Bruiser, just because his kit (by how they describe it) and range makes him look like he would get destroyed by any champ he can't get in that sweet spot of where he can pick up his Axe.
Also he needs to sound like Randy Savage and have everything he says be a bad pun.

you need to keep in mind that 525 autoattack range isn't actually a small number. It's identical to Graves, more than Sivir, and only 25 less than Corki, Tristana (level 1), Miss Fortune, and Vayne. From what's been flogged in the data, his stats are pretty much streamlined for AD carries.
His Q is a reward for getting into melee range. It doesn't screw you up if you don't pick it up - it just does more damage for being close or chasing.

Sounds like it works the same way as Olaf's axe does.
not really, here's why:
Spinning Axe Draven's next attack(1) will deal bonus damage. This axe will ricochet off the target(2) high up into the air. If Draven catches it, he automatically readies another Spinning Axe. Draven can have two Spinning Axes at once.
1. Next Attack is the mechanical keyword for a skill that refreshes your attack animations. It's not a skillshot, it just modifies how your next attack works
2. Olaf's axe travels through an indefinite amount of targets. Draven's axe just leaves a marker on impact after it hits the designated person.
Draven's Q ability basically gives him an extra autoattack with a bonus effect. Olaf's Q ability nukes the line. The only way they're similar is that you can pick them up to refresh the cooldown.

While his range isn't exactly small he has two abilities that are significantly improved by catching an Axe. It just seems to me that from a design standpoint he really wants to be in the frey while most other AD Carries want to be standoffish and far away.

He wants to get close, ala Graves, and he wants to chase / kite&poke - ala Ashe, and Sivir. It's not really that much of a fundamental difference when you think about it.

I guess I was more right then I thought. Morello is in a thread right now basically saying they are going to be nerfing Darius (and admitting he was wrong).

Instead of nerfing him he honestly needs a remake. It's extremely hard to itemize against him because he has built in armor penetration, has a passive dot and a true damage ultimate that refreshes.
