Instead of nerfing him he honestly needs a remake. It's extremely hard to itemize against him because he has built in armor penetration, has a passive dot and a true damage ultimate that refreshes.
I get a feeling a few months from now we are going to be getting an apology from Morello or someone on how Darius was poorly designed, which he is. This doesn't even have anything to do with power: He is too feast or famine and he encourages team disharmony.

Built in armor penetration makes itemizing armor more powerful against him, not less powerful.
Personally I feel like you need health no matter how you go about it but for the most part it's just best to avoid fighting him until he's not likely to snowball anymore.

It's not really hard to itemize against him. He can only use his ultimate on you once, and it's realistically going to hit you for around 340-360 damage at 5 stacks. That's an Olaf E, what makes it so scary is the fact that he can get you to a health range where he can ult and kill you pretty quickly.
The solution is to build armor against him. Even though his passive deals magic damage he isn't going to be itemizing magic penetration, so early armor is your strongest bet to mitigate his damage. A combo of Q-auto-W is almost all physical damage, as the dot itself is moderately small at early levels. Lots of armor early shuts him down. He's only going to have about 14% and 15 flat armor penetration, so stacking it up is a good thing.
The trick to beating him is to A) not let him get free harass and B) make sure your jungler is stopping him from snowballing. Easier said than done, yes, but that's how you need to beat him. At worst case, turn the lane into a farming lane. If he can't get you to the oneshot range, he won't try and oneshot you. Or he will, and overextend for a gank.

anyone with a decent harass more so ranged harrass can beat him.
kog, varus, vayne etc would be even better since they do % health damage.
there are others like mf and cait. still he needs to be harrassed. if you are a standard melee then you might have some issues.
No offense, but that's a halfass answer because in a 1v1 lane anyone with range wins if their opponent doesn't have range. It also doesn't work that well against a good Darius that controls the bush. Darius does a crapton of damage early, especially against people that only have 15-20 armor. He has a gap closer and multiple ways to chase, so one jump and you're dead. The Darius (or anyone with a kit like that) has to be brain dead to get shut down like that
That's not even touching the snowballing nature of toplane and the fact that junglers exist. AD carries rarely get sent top for the fact that they are super easy to kill. Putting them against someone with a gap closer, a slow, and a geometric crapton of burst/sustained damage is a bad idea. It's like putting a ranged AD carry against Pantheon, it generally doesn't work.
Remember that I'm talking about specific ways that another bruiser can beat him.

Actually, Vayne get's sent top lane a fair amount, because she can keep people off of her. Never thought about it, but she might do ok against Darius. Kog and Varus though, you're right, they'd just get wrecked after he pulled them into him. As for bruisers that counter him, I saw a Garen wreck one yesterday, but I came in at the end of the game, so I don't know too much about how the laning phase went.
Speaking of bruisers and top, I've been playing Nunu up there with a bruiser-ish build. Wrecked a Riven yesterday. Snowball+Bloodboil makes it hard for them to escape a gank, and Nunu's stats actually scale pretty well. Throw in Consume, and it's very tough for you to be pushed out of lane. I got ganked by Shaco, Alistair, and Janna and managed to kill two of them and survive. Give it a try sometime, it's pretty entertaining.
You guys wanna know how to shut down Darius top? It's easy, send Heimerdinger or Swain up top. Both counter pretty much every single top in the game. The only people that can beat Swain top I've learned is Teemo and Yorrick. Nasus, as usual turns into a farm lane.
And as for Heimer, he doesn't lose top to anybody.
Alright, not trying to troll, but I don't see the appeal of this game over HoN or DOTA 2. The game play seems extremely clunky and slow paced compared to the other MOBA games. I just started getting into them and I'm trying to figure out which is for me. What am I missing about LoL that makes other people love it so much?

/sigh while I love some good wins I really wish I could actually get a game with Katarina that doesn't end with the enemy team surrendering as soon as I complete my Gunblade and Deathfire. Can't ever seen to decide what else I want to buy after that because they always surrender within 25 minutes >.<

are they really that bad that they can't adapt to kat? i mean yeah she can be nasty but she is also easy to shut down.
all it really takes is building some MR and well her damage goes down a good bit.

not really because you want a way to contain him. scion, irelia, garen, maybe nautalus (not sure just doesn't do enough damage early).
as i said you need someone with a decent harass. you can contain him. he isn't an unstoppable force.

A good Kat is hard to deal with and straight up shut down. Also because Kat has such good harass and is not afraid to auto-attack (and actually has a good auto-attack via Gunblade and Maw if you get it on her) that she is more resistant to MR stacking than most other AP Carries.

It isn't just Kat normally when I use her I am also queueing with a Jungler I have good synergy with and either a decent solo top or AD carry I can trust pretty well when I roam. That said the times I've solo queued with her I always seem to get good team mates as well and we still roll.
What a pathetic half assed excuse for a 'reward'. Man Riot why don't you tell your fans to **** off... Oh wait Tamat already did that.

For those the uninformed (like me, who had to look this up), Riot mentioned something along the lines of "give us over 2 million facebook fans and we'll give you an IP boost weekend". The weekend was forgotten about by many people, or completely ignored by most - but Riot games got 3.4 million fans. Sensing it would be cool, riot did a 34% IP boost weekend. This was originally supposed to be a 100% ip boost for 4-10 games for their facebook fans, but Facebook managed to screw up their little program that supplied Riot with a list of names on who to boost. So, they instead gave a 34% bonus weekend to everyone. Massive public backlash (like a bunch of spoiled brats) resulted in a downvoted thread.

That's not stopping people from planning to boycott playing this weekend.
In fact I plan to boycott it too, but that's mostly because I have a bachelor party Saturday and I don't plan to be coherent Sunday.
What is this little bit of rage in relation to?
