Sounds damn cool! I like the asynchronous gameplay feature. For all you hardworking parents or ppl just trying to make it happen, this is for you! I like a game i can pick up and put down when life demands my attention.
Not really interested. If it were free, I would be. But then again, if everything were free; I'd be more interested in everything. I don't want to sink a bunch of money into getting a good deck of Solforge and buying boosters.

That introduction showed me nothing about the game, i need more information other than "this is digital only" and its made by the designer of MTG and Kibler. Without more info i cant possibly back it... Need more info and a beta or something to even begin with thoughts...
I will say based on the art they showed, it's pretty... that's it tho.

From Kibler's FAQ stream, it sounds a lot like Dominion + Spectromancer, the latter of which Garfield created himself. Both are excellent games in their own right, and mobile strategy games are quite popular right now. Solforge seems well positioned, so I have high hopes.
Kibler is just too cool. He gets large amounts of money to play games, and makes his own games, and gets to make games with Richard Garfield, doesn't look like a nerd, *and* gets all the girls too.

Yes, but he mentions purchasing decks and boosters.
You can play for free and earn cards by playing (in some way, not exactly specified) or buy boosters and I assume enter tournaments and earn cards that way as well.
The game that someone saw being played at a PTQ might have been Ascension which is developed by the same company, pretty fun once you get the hang of it. Bought it on my iPhone/iPad for about $10 total with the 2 addons but you can also buy a physical copy.
Garfield is a smart man and if he thinks this has potential, I'm down. Plus the art shows that they're taking the project seriously. Sure they didn't explain much in the video, but I'm still interested in at least giving it a shot.
This seems neat. Not too much gameplay info, but they're just starting the project, so that's understandable. If I had a mobile system, I'd be more interested in this.
I'm curious how they're going to make tension with the 'no resources' concept of playing whatever you want. Should be interesting.
Maybe you'll get Archenemy cards in your Duel Decks From The Vault: Deck Builder's Toolkit All-Foil Duels of the Planeswalkers Downloadable Content Expansion (Tactics Edition).
Not interested for two reasons. The first is simply I have a very strong dislike of any game where I have to buy boosters, but I don't get the benefits of owning the physical card. There is no security in what you buy. If MTG went out today, I could still play cards with my friends for years to come because I could make decks from my own collection. If this goes down, you're left with nothing.
I'm also incredibly unhappy with their plans to make this a "pay to play" game while still calling it free (freemium). I tried playing another freemium card game that sounds similar in principle: Rage of Bahamut. The problem is that the freemium model creates a tiering system separating those that win because they pay for the cards and everyone else. The game offers no true way for a free player to have a comparable experience to someone who drops money on ludicrously overpriced items that allow you to play at a higher level. This is the issue with most games of the nature and it is disingenuous to call it free if there isn't a level of parity for the paying and non-paying users.
On that note, I'm going to create a card game for iPad/iPhone where you add your credit card to your account and you bid (paying real money) to beat other players. Whoever pays the most, wins! You can still play for free though because for every week you play for free, you get the equivalent of 1.00 USD added to your credit balance to bid on victory. If you play for five months, you might have a chance at beating that kid who borrowed Mom and Dad's AMEX from their wallet.
Card transformation? Sounds an aweful lot like Pokemon if you ask me.
That stuck out to me too. It looks exactly like Pokemon on the kick started description of that mechanic.
I'll still check it out. Donated already. Here's hoping it's great.
Edit: a successful Mobile game like this could be the next great game. At the very least, if it's good enough, it might stop the absolute gouging we get from mtgo.
Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.

the description tells it as a new digital card game from MtG creator (WOTC? Hasbro? someone from RnD??) and Ascension...
Comments anyone?
