Also, I think that Blizzards reasonings are complete and utter BS. They say that they're making everything more colorful and bright, so that people can see the monsters and whatnot... I've never experienced this problem in the previous games. IMO, you'd have to be either 3 years old, near-blind, or have an ancient 13-year-old monitor, in order to not be able to see things in those games.
That's because the way they fixed it in D2 was to color-code the enemies. The game looked like crap. The change in coloring is one of the best things about the game. I want to play the gameplay that I know, and have some great graphics.
And the light radius was terrible in the previous games because it wasn't a tru 3D environment. It was either light or dark, now they can have dynamic shading. I bet this is what D2 would look like if they had the option to make it this way.
Frankly Wrath, throwing fire is WAY better than swinging an object that is on fire.
But hey differetn strokes for different folks. For example I hate Urza's block and it's strokes of genius and academy shenanigans. You enjoy Urza's block.
Really pumped for this game. Blizzard will be taking a lot of my money in the coming months. And I was doing so well, too.
As long as I get some fire, in some way....I'm happy
I'm kinda curious as to the Clone skill though.....
I'm wondering if they'd (the clones) are just decoys basically, or if they'll cast random spells.
Obviously in a Diablo game there will be fire spells and fire based levels. I'm sure the Wizard is just a improved upon Sorceress which was a improved upon Sorcerer.
More powerful and more robust in spell selection which is what they seem to have done in D2 compared to D1.
I like the idea too of being able to choose your gender on the game. It's starting to become the norm with a lot of other rpg type of games.
I'm starting to wonder with the lapse of time we had between the original announcement, and this one with 1 new class, if we'll have that same period of time between all announced classes.
d3 will apparently have automated stat assigning. Alla WoW. I am greatly sadden to hear that they are glossing over this layer of strategy.
Although it will be nice to not have to worry about "wasting" points in energy, or worrying about hitting requirements for something (79 base + 30 from charms + 20 from socket amethyst etc), or keeping max block and then finding a shield with different stats that means you "wasted" dex or need more, etc.
I've also heard the skill trees are like WoW talents, requiring you to put say 5 points in some combination of firebolt/warmth before unlocking the ability to put points in inferno/fireball, etc. Again, removes a layer of strategy, but saves people from the monotony of using level 1 frostbolt and a random axe on a Sorceress while waiting for Frozen Orb, you'll actually have some decent early spells to use.

not sure how i feel on this one. If it sticks going into the final version, then I'll decide on it later if it's good or not.
I for one, like guild wars stats. You get your 5 when u level up, and you can redistribute them whenever you want in a town/outpost. This way, you can try multiple builds, (fire sorc, ice sorc) without having to make another char.
but, if they can pull it off with D3 using a WoW feature, then so be it.
I know whole-heartedly that this is a necro, but this is the closest thing we have to a total "Diablo 3" thread and this is relevant information.
They just announced that it will be ported to Xbox 360 for sure, and I think that is awesome news. Very good for all of the people who don't like PC and hopefully we might see something Starcraft -inspired some day on Xbox.
In the meantime, they announced the collector's edition and it's come out that it is $99. I'm debating whether or not I should get it, opinions on it?

Right there, and it's everywhere else too. Also on Reddit.
I have not heard that thing about it being sold out, however. Might have to look into that...
EDIT: Sold out only online, not at stores.

you know, i'm glad you did it, because i searched through the 4 pages of threads dating back to August, and i swore we had an official thread. Nope, just commenting threads of the pieces of it. Maybe if the OP is still around he can rename it something like "The Diablo 3 Thread" or w/e.
Seeing it on a 360 would be kinda cool. But I would only get it for PC. There is way too much chance I'm having a new comp built by spring, and it's going to be a powerhouse. i want to be able to run D3 at full tilt but, truth be told, I want to run all resource hungry games on full tilt
I'm still going to be sticking with a Barb/Warrior to get used to the game until probably lvl 30 or so, then make some other characters to see what i like.
That's the one thing keeping me from placing a preorder, I'm not sure if I can run it on my laptop (I know our desktop can, but my parents hate me hogging that computer when they got me a laptop, which unfortunately has integrated graphics).
I'll eventually get it for PC I'm sure, but the prospect of it for Xbox is interesting.

I mean honesty, stat distribution was my least favorite part about D2.
Regarding colors, still looks pretty dark.
I am actually kinda disappointed about the existence of Magic Missle in the game.
I mean, honestly, Magic Missle isn't a good name, IMO.
Teeth had magic missly effects but it had both a more flavorful and terse name.
Regarding, color differences, eh, didn't notice anything. I think it is alot more about movement then shading.

Likely will be overhauling quite a few aspects of the Diablo 3 game to run on the 360.
