I tried HoN, while i like the flexibility of the matchmaking system they have i overall didn't like the game, the inventory was so very convoluted and the whole interface felt like a dota ripoff more so than LoL's (yes they are both ripping off from DotA but i felt it more evidently in HoN than in LoL).
The graphics seemed sharper but that's not saying much and for some reason the servers over here are incredibly laggy while LoL's never give me a problem.
Finally I was not aware you had to spend money just to make an account... i get spending money for micro-transactions but just to make an account???

Call me old fashioned, but an evil ascension to power just isn't the same without someone chanting faux Latin in the background.
Oreo, Glazing people better than Dunkin' Donuts since 2009
That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange eons even death may die.
The shop-interface in LoL more or less ripped off another WC3 map: Rise of Winterchill. Not that I mind, since it's highly functional and practical.
HoN graphics look great. I mean, they look great when looked at individually. The main issue is that since every goddamn thing glows in the eighty-five colours of the mother****ing rainbow, some of them not even visible to the human eye, it's pretty damn hard to make out what's happening. Highlights are functional when EVERY SINGLE THING isn't highlighted, mmkay, graphic artists?

The Sage is occupied with the unspoken
and acts without effort.
Teaching without verbosity,
producing without possessing,
creating without regard to result,
claiming nothing,
the Sage has nothing to lose.
HoN is free-to-play now, to compete with LoL. Also, they're running a design a hero campaign with the guy behind Ctrl+Alt+Del, the web-comic because LoL's design a hero campaign with him was not properly explained and it was more of a "help us finish a hero we already came up with".
Its a great alternative to dota with similar gameplay on a better engine.
What do you guys think of HoN?
For people that havn't heard of it:

Also they have accounts on sale at the moment, only $10 (instead of usual $30) so now is a good time to make an account and try the game (:
If anyone is keen to try the game, much will be appreciated if you use my referral;

But for U$10,00, I might give it a try. I think I might now be hardened enough to endure their fabled community.
HoN is really grabbing at straws.
