@Mamoru-kun: Congratulations on being the first one to find an anime I have never even heard of. I thought at first it'd be related to Kage Kara Mamoru, but it seems I am wrong. I want to see an episode now... It's a shame I'll have to wait 'till next year.
it's probably because it's a new anime being shown this fall. it's quite shotakon, since the male lead looks like he's 10, but it's a cute story with its funny moments.
I don't think you're using either the term yaoi or shotacon correctly. Yaoi explicitly refers to manga/ajnime/imagery that is both pornographic and depicts male homosexuals. There is nothing yaoi about Kare Kano or other shows you mentioned, not even in a "comic" sense.
Perhaps the term you are looking for is shonen-ai.
Also, shotacon (shotaru complex) also refers to pornographic works.
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
Well... shotacon is bit dangerous to use in common. As Memelon said, shotacon is someone who feels sexual attraction from really young "boy" character (different word applies if the character is a girl, Lolicon).
The word came from the main character "Shotarou" from "Tetsujin 28go (Ironman No.28, '60s)". The anime is really old and it is mecha thing so I guess none of people here have never heard of it. Therefore I attach small img of Shotarou-kun The charming point of Shotarou is formal top and short pants, as one of maniac shotacom says.
The description it gives there just covers the first few episodes. The story overall is set in a future where a few wolves live in human cities and hide the fact that they're wolves with their ability to project a mental image to others of a human. Their shadow is still a wolf's shadow, and when they use their "hand" to pick something up, they leave bite marks, but other than that they appear to be human. I saw a couple of episodes when it was on Cartoon Network, and the overall story seems to be something about finding this mystical flower girl who will save all the wolves by giving them a safe place to live away from the humans or something. It's a pretty neat idea - all the main characters are wolves disguised as humans, and they band together in search of this paradise where they can live.
You guys may or may not know, but I've been doing an Anime of the Week over at Magic Coffeehouse (one of the two remaining overclans in the clans forum) for a while now. I finally got around to indexing them, and so here they are if you'd like to browse them. Right now, only the first and last have working pictures, but I'll change that in the future.
Edit: Ok, Gankutsuou is updated now... I'll try to update one/day until they're all done.
Edit2: Azumanga Daioh, Twelve Kingdoms, and Lupin are now working.
I'm liking that list. Gankutsuo is tech; AMD is the funniest thing i've seen in a long time; LIII is classic cool; ROD oozes with cool (only watched 1-13 and OVAs, but all are good); SEL is spine-chillingly good.
So, I found a rather interesting message in my inbox today:
Hello Anime Fan,
We are currently looking for Anime Reviewers to review anime shows on
our new video podcast, AnimeTV. You can check out all the details at www.goanimetv.com. We would greatly appreciate it if you could ask
your members if they would like to write reviews for titles that will
be featured on AnimeTV. The titles listed below are the ones we are
reviewing currently, but this is an ongoing project and we will be
contacting you again to review additional titles.
If you can't write in-depth reviews of all the shows, just do what you
can, and try to score the rest based on the criteria below.
Animation/Character Design
What do you think of the animation itself? Is if innovative, new,
fresh, interesting? Are the characters designed well? Are they
different from other characters you've seen, or similar to others?
Comment on these things. What you like or don't like!
Story
Here you can talk about the story in general, what you think of it, how
it made you feel, how it was different or new or interesting. Or the
opposite! Did the characters engage you? Did you like any of them? Hate
any of them? Would you recommend this show to others? Do you want to
watch more of it? Do you hope they make more episodes? Do you think the
writing is good? Or not so great? Is the dialogue crisp and fresh? Or
stale and fake sounding? And things like that! This is probably one of
the most important topics to discuss in your review.
Performances
When possible, discuss the English Language voice acting performances.
If you don't have access to those, please consider the Japanese voice
acting. Did you like the performances, or dislike them? Was the acting
well done? Was it directed well in your opinion? Did the acting sound
fake? Or natural? Any stand out performances you loved?
Sound track
How was the music? Anything memorable? Did it work for the story or
animation? Did you notice the ambience or sound effects? Monsters?
Anything special to discuss in this category?
These are the shows we need reviews & scores for right now:
Samurai Champloo
Planetes
Trinity Blood
Haré+Guu
Naruto
Fate Stay Night
Eureka Seven
Bleach
Paradise Kiss
INSTRUCTIONS:
Reviews
Please limit your reviews to 300 words or less per category.
Categories include, Animation/Character Design, Story, Performance and
Sound Track. Please send your reviews to: judges@goanimetv.com by

Scoring

Animation/Character Design, Story, Performance and Sound Track. Please
send the reviews to: judges@goanimetv.com by Monday, December 18th.
(You may send both reviews and scores together, if you like.)
If you have seen all of the titles posted above, great! If not they
can review all of the titles that they are familiar with. I also
wanted to point out that these reviews will be for the first couple of
shows. I will contact you with a new list in a month or so with the
titles for the next several episodes. This will be an ongoing
project.
Be sure to include the following information:
1. FULL NAME
2. WHERE YOU ARE FROM (CITY/TOWN & STATE).
3. Contact info: email, address and/or phone number
4. Lastly, PLEASE WRITE: "I give you permission to use my reviews and
scores in AnimeTV." If you are under 18, please have your parent or
legal guardian write that in the email, and make sure they give us
their full name as well.
All selected reviews will be posted on the AnimeTV forums and your name
will appear in the end credits of the show!
Thank you for your participation! I look forward to reading your
reviews!
Sincerely,
Mark Fujita

Anybody have any more information on this? I went to the website, but all it seems to have is a background with "Premiering in January" on it.
Is 12 Kingdoms worth watching? My friend has it on DVD but I only watched 1 episode. Got kinda turned off because from what I saw it wasn't that great.
There's also this anime about this girl who wants to find UFOs or something and starts a club, my friend tells the animation is kinda cool but the story is kinda random(giant robots involved?>_>). Anyone know what this anime's called and is it worth watching?
I saw a few episodes of Trinity Blood. Didn't really get into it...I thought they were trying way too hard to make everything uber cool. Although that robat priest guy kinda rules...

You just kinda have to get past the first couple of episodes, which are slow because they're still in the real world. Once they get into the world of the twelve kingdoms, things pick up a lot. This actually brings up one of my personal rules of thumb - always watch at least the first three episodes of an anime before you judge it.

If I'm not mistaken, that's the Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. It's good, in a weird-kinda way. A number of the people on this thread have seen, and I have it but haven't watched it yet.
I did some checking on the animetv thing.. It's being produced by BangZoom! Entertainment so it seems pretty legit, sort of a Podcast version of Anime Network... Look at it this way Mr. Stuff, you might get paid to review!

Sounds like it (no giant robots though). It's not really weird, no more than any random anime. The most weird thing is the episode ordering, but the show is awesome.
Well, I finally saw the Full Metal Alchemist movie. I thought it was amazing, I'm not sure why people don't like it.
I'll probably always be surprised by the controversy Full Metal Alchemist generates. Some people swear by it, some swear at it, and very few seem to have anything short of extreme feelings about it. Most people I know of only like parts of it, like a particular season, or the movie, or the manga, or certain characters. I, on the other hand, like whole thing: both seasons, all the characters (except for Envy and Roy, whom I don't care much for), the manga, and the movie.

Well said Mamelon, I think that the movie was harshly underrated, and that is a shame. Deals with the alt world, and everything, and I liked that crazy twist.

The Legendary Storyline Poster--- Ixidorsdreams (yeah, it was me ;))
Okay, so my mom asked me to make a list of books I would be interested in for Christmas... I've gotten all the novels I want listed, so now I'm looking at graphic novels, manga in specific (as I already listed Maus)
so I'm looking for a manga series that wouldnt be epically long (less than 10 volumes hopefully) The only manga I have been keeping up with is Bleach, and before that it was candidate for goddess, and HunterxHunter... Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance
There's also this anime about this girl who wants to find UFOs or something and starts a club, my friend tells the animation is kinda cool but the story is kinda random(giant robots involved?>_>). Anyone know what this anime's called and is it worth watching?
Yes, I am almost positive that you are talking about The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. One of my favorite animes, you should definitely watch it.
I don't know if nom is town or scum. But I'd like to point out this type of behavior is his standard modus operandi.
Court Mafia: Day 1, hatch plan to KILL EVERYONE ELSE IN A SINGLE NIGHT, when the plan only allows him to hit 11 random players, ATTEMPTS TO FIRE ANYHOW (Roleblocked).
In other words....Nom is an impulsive player who doesn't think about planning long-term or listening to others. I wouldn't be surprised if he was town. At all.
Somebody here has watched the manga/anime/movie(s) Nana by Ai Yazawa? A friend told me about it some months ago, I searched for scanlations of the manga, and I got hooked with it
Now I wait impatiently for each manga/anime chapter scanlated/fansubbed released
I haven't read the manga yet, but my friend really likes it. I did see the first movie a few months ago and really enjoyed it. Nakashima Mika and Miyazaki Aoi were both great in that film. I'm a little skeptical about the second one because I don't really think Ichikawa Yui is that great of an actress (sure, she's cute, but her acting is only so-so), though I'm sure I'll still try to get my hands on it when it comes out on DVD.
