Sci-Fi channel has been playing a miniseries for the past two days called Tin Man, a sort of darker, more modern reinvention of the classic Wizard of Oz story.
Anyone been watching this show? What are you thoughts on it?

All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
I find it to be okay but it's not blowing me away. I don't find that the villain is very charismatic and because of the costuming it's reminiscent of Power Rangers villains like Rita and Lord Zed. The younger characters are pretty good though (in the flashbacks)...but for some reason I tired really quickly of the flashbacks in general. I like the envisioning of the Scarecrow and Toto. I just don't understand exactly how much he does and doesn't remember O_o with half his brain gone.
I was really going to watch this at first because I thought it was a movie. When I found out that it was a mini-series... I kinda lost interest.
I hope it is good. Sci-Fi Channel has been fairly disappointing to me over the last years, what with it's repeated showings of stuff like Cops and wrestling. Dang you G4 and your license to show Star Trek!
I have and got a weird filling this is the third story of OZ. Seeing the whole thing on the Great Gale. Which I beleive is Dorthy from long ago. Also I think DG is one of Ozma's daughters or disendents which would not be a suprise and was named after Dorthy who saved Oz long ago.
I like this movie, but I see it as not in the same light of the Wizard of Oz and Return of Oz. Which both was good, but I would not mind Sci fi to do a true redue of Oz this is not what I think when I think of Oz.
I am super annoyed by how they can't seem to call anything by it's name. Our heroin is D.G, Oz is "The O.Z.", Etc. If this story takes place in Oz, why would they change the name to "The Outer Zone"? And by 'They' I don't mean the writers, I mean the characters living in Oz.

How many cities do you know with nicknames, think about how those nicknames changed over time to reflect the popular slang of the era, and it's the same with names and nicknames of people too.
I think they use it to kinda pay homage to The Wizard of Oz, without really making it a 'copy' of the film or anything, but it still takes place in the same kinda 'state' or something. I think it's rather clever.
I like it. I think it's fantastic (EDIT: Sarnath'd). The acting is somewhat poor, but what do you expect for Sci-Fi? Zooey is acceptable and so is Mr Cumming.
I've watched the first two episodes. It's more or less mind candy. And it's only loosely based on The Wizard of OZ. I've found more enjoyment in just watching, rather than trying to figure out how everything works logically.
Although, last night, with the witch's possession was an interesting twist.
Well this miniseries has been a kind of weird fusion between ideas from the the Wizard of Oz and Wicked. Of course, there are a lot of Sci-Fi elements thrown in (it is airing on the Sci-Fi Channel after all.)
It's been alright in my opinion, they could used a bit more of the book in my opinion in this series... after all, the book is in the public domain and has been so for many years.

For a little while now, being Science fiction is by far no longer a requirement to air on the Sci-fi Channel. (Professional wrestling )
The Sci-Fi channel has been airing a lot of awful productions lately. I'm glad that Tin Man isn't one of them. I haven't been able to see much, but I have rather enjoyed what I have seen.
I enjoyed the series for the most part. It wasn't mind-blowing, but it was a good watch if you didn't take things too seriously. As for why it was called the O.Z. and not Oz, this isn't quite a sequel, but rather a re-imagining of the original story - kind of like the newest James Bond movie isn't really a sequel, but a restart.
I saw this and thought it was OK. It was horribly cliched in so many ways, but they had a lot of interesting interpretations that I really enjoyed.
Two things that bugged me
Why did Azkadelia (sp?) want to create perpetual night? I mean, they never really gave a reason, other than "Ooh, she's evil. Wow, look at that evil..." Second, were did the Tin Man come in? He wasn't exactly heartless.

Do threads in this forum ever not get hijacked by the magical invisible hand of the market guys?
Watched the final part and got to say it was ok. Me personaly would of chose a better title seeing Cain was not realy the main character.
Also agree we never found out the witches story. Why was she put in that cave and was she in relation to the Wicked Witch of the West?
Last I been for some camio of the Tin Man that helped Dorthy from long ago. Seeing he been an imortal as would Scarecrow too.
I would of said Lion, but I had a filling Raw was in some way his desendent.
So this was ok but had so much left open for a prequal. Seeing Dorthy was not queen, Ozma was. I personaly want to know what happioned to of made that come to pass?
Ps. I know this is a re-imagining, but they left alot for me to ponder. Seeing I am a big fan of the Wizard of Oz and see so much that was not answered in the fullest.
I watched it, and I have to say that the main character was just terrible, imho, but the rest of the actors I thought did a pretty good job. Seriously though, she never really shows any emotion, and she is a very static actress. "Oh, I'm in some weird place, okay". I mean, that isn't really how most people would react.
I didn't like the title, as it makes it seems as though they were going to do a rendition of the actual Tin Man book, which it wasn't.

That's the one thing that truely annoyed me out of it. I'm STILL kinda pondering that one. I DID miss the first part of it but caught the other two but it's good to see I didn't miss an explanation.
Other than that I thought it was just pretty good. A lot of little things that would polish it up but since it was for TV I can't say anything too bad.
Wow, I didn't realize this show existed. I'll have to look it up on online or something. I've been reading Wicked these past two weeks and it's amazing. Seriously fantastic. I hope this is on par.

Listen to my M:tG flavor Podcast: Story Circle! (Newest episode is all about Innistrad previews.)
Well having just watched the final part on my DVR I have to say I was fairly impressed. This is by far one of the better things Sci-Fi Channel has done that is not a true show.

For the record, I think it's fantastic.
