The DS for sure. The PSP only has like 5-6 I would play. The DS has 30+, Not to mention it has games that are Wifi enabled. Plays GBA games, Long battery life, and the fact it's cheap to buy one and the games for it.
You know that the DS has a web-browser too, right? I wouldn't say it's capabilities are near as good as the PSP's for surfing the web, but the option is available.
Really? I didnt know that. Cool. I still would take PSP over it anyday.
I am not really concerned with the web browser capability with a hand held system after all if i want to get online i probably would use my desktop instead. I just get an hand held system because of the games and i probalby will try to get the DS in the near future since its cheaper and there are several games i want for it.

Could you elaborate please, as I've never heard of this before.
Well that article really is more of a what-if scenario convergence is going to increase more and more as the years go by. Just as it always has like the guy that put a clock on a microwave and the guy that put a clock on a radio. Its a fact of life also saying that the PSP makes sacrifices for the other things it does is a false statement.
Yeah it costs more then the DS but thats about the only sacrifice thats made for the other things it does. TV's are doing more now then they ever have well I guess my cable box does it all but with that and my TV I can record any show I want and watch On-Demand programming.
Basically i bet in the next 20+ years we will see so much convergence that devices function as 5+ things on a regularity. While watching video on an I-Pod might seem odd now it might become a commonality here soon. Internet on fridges anyone????
Graphics:PsP
Games:The DS has the bigger library but both have their gems
-PSP: Metal Gear Portable Ops, both the acids, Powerstone Collection(plus game sharing, the best idea to portable gaming in forever), Sega Genesis Collection(with 3 Phantasy Stars!!!), Valkyrie Profile:Lenneth, Lumines 1 & 2(best puzzle games ever, yes, they're better than tetris), Elder Scrolls Oblivion(when it comes out), Every Extended Extra, etc.
-Stylus(if i spelled it, durp)-it's great to see it but i always hated being forced to use it for the games that required it. The best example is the Star Fox game, which would have been much better if you could just use the classic controls.
-The feel: They both feel great, I can hold either one for extended periods of time, but the PsP felt alittle better to me.
-Movies: I don't mind watching Clerks or the like on the run.
-Multimedia: As above with movies, yes, the Psp wins the multimedia part, but it doesn't mean you have to use it. I'm perfectly happy using a psp 95% of the time for games. But i do like to be able to stop game play whenever i like.
-The bottom line: they're both pretty good now, it's all about choice. Yet, the ones who haven't tried both out should never rule out something without trying it, unless it has the name "32" or attaches to a console (except the Sega Cd).
Could you elaborate please, as I've never heard of this before.
As of August, there was only a Japanese version, but if you could get your hands on one, it works in the U.S. Opera put together a browser for the DS, the connection blows, etc., etc. Here's the IGN article on it. I haven't paid enough attention to it to know if there's a US version coming or what since I don't really care about it.
The DS. It's cheaper, there are more games, the games are better in general, and it has a longer battery life.
I personally prefer the games that don't depend on stylus control. Likewise, I wish developers for Wii would be more open-minded about doing classic-control games instead of feeling shoved into the Wiimote paradigm.
Depends on what you're calling it. An entertainment device or a gaming device. If it's gaming, then sure the DS wins hands down. If you're looking for entertainment in all aspects? PsP. The sexy LCD screen allows for excellent video playback, which is huge when video playback has become like mp3 playback. Also, the web browser capabilities of PSP destroy DS.
As far as design, the PsP is designed much sleeker. The DS are clunky, and hard to get used to navigation wise while a PsP will feel right at home in your hands.
The PsP is far more entertaining an item if you can deal with small gaming selection, but no one will tell you it is a better game system.
Thing is? Game systems are MORE than game systems these days.
The fundamental flaw in this logic is that yes, while game systems are more than just game systems these days, you have to succeed as a game system to succeed in this market. You can't sell a portable video game player on the merits that it 'does alot of cool stuff, but sucks when it comes to gaming'. There are other avenues that people can pursue if they just want a portable media device.

This is exactly true. Look at Gizmondo (okay bad example) or the NGage.
If I couldn't play Super Mario Bros, Zelda, and Dragon Warrior/Quest on my PSP then I'd pick up a DS.
Of course, the only games I'm aware of on the DS that I'd play are the New Super Mario Bros and the soon to be released Dragon Quest 9.
Yup. I like my old school retro games.
I also like actual PSP games like Katamari and Lumines
I try to respect other people's opinions even if I don't agree with them, but I have to say, I just have no respect for you at the moment. Not only are you pirating the games, but you didn't even buy the company's system whose games you are stealing (and instead spent money on the rival's system!)?
That's illegal, unethical, and very uncool. I hope you at least own legal copies of the originals.
ds because if I had the money to get a psp I'd get the wii instead
QUOTED FOR TRUTH
i really like the way Nintendo is trying to broaden the horizons of gameplay, and DS and Wii are both representatives of what I believe is the true direction that video gaming are going. Like seriously, how long is it going to be until we have virtual reality-type games (that don't fail like the virtual boy, lol)?
Please keep in mind the fact that there is no legitimate arguement for either side. For years and years, it's been "What is your opinion" and not "Which is noticably better". People just don't get it yet.
That being said, my die-hard-nintendo-fan spirit is telling me to say DS FTW!!!
Definetely the DS, the game library is just far better overall.
The PSP has a lot more multimedia features, but it doesn't do any of them very well. Movies look kewl, but the screen is too small. In a nutshell, why bother buying a system with the features of the PSP if there are other units available that do what the PSP does better? You'll be stuck with a portable game system that does not have enough good games to hold you for very long.

I U Dio GAYMERS, the cause of, and solution to, all life's problems.
the DS didn't really win over the PSP, somny schrewed up bad and were way over their heads. the DS is not great as many PSP fans have pointed out, but the PSP is just ridiculous. i honestly cannot believe sony expects us to buy somthing so horrible.
first off, like everyone said, DS won in price. but i don't think people emphasize this factor enough. the psp costs significantly more than the DS. the seventy dollar (or perhaps more) difference is crazy.
secondly, arguing that the PS3 can play movies is crazy. not many companies are producing movies for the PSP. the selection is horrible! and like many have said, the movie graphics are really sad. if you want to watch movies, there is currently an extremely competitive handheld market. the ipod, as many already have mentioned, has significantly better graphics. and it also plays music. the ipod also beats everything else on the market at memory, so the PSP is not good in this area.
i don't think PSP looks better than the DS lite. the DS seems muchs sleeker now. it makes the PSP look bulky.
finally, game selection comes to mind. for both systems, it is sad. but PSP is far sadder. when they show us an actually fun game, we can buy it. the DS is also bad in this area, but we all know that we will all scream for pokemon eventually anyway.
i don't know why anyone referred to sony as the underdog. the only reason the DS was released was because Sony pressured them into it. Nintendo was worried Sony would beat them in the handheld market, so they released some wreck of a system that was the original DS to try and combat the PSP. everyone could tell the system was awful and not well developed. the gameboy advanced was still fairly new. in the end, nintendo won by a long shot not because they did anything right, but because sony did everything wrong.
as for putting an ipod in the mix, everyone knows that apple may very well overpower the handheld industry. it is clearly the best handheld system over DS and PSP. it may even be the best handheld system in the current handheld market. the thing is extremely small. it holds an insane amount of memory unmatched by anything else on the market. it is completely affordable. and it has graphics like the TV. if apple develops a cellphone or game system, there is no way any current company could beat it. the future of handheld devices goes to apple.

Gameboy, cause it still works and I'm too poor to invest in newer systems

It's a NES, SNES, GB, GBA, and recently PSX, all in one. Seriously, the PSP has been my best investment ever
