If you were given $1,000,000 to make a video game, what would your video game be? What new technologies would you try to incorporate into it? Why would it be better then the rest? Would it be better then the rest or just be a fun game to play?
I would craft a meticulous recreation of the naval warfare of the Napoleonic era, and nothing, no matter how excruciating, would be omitted. It would be an intensely unpopular game, for the battles would take hours, and frequently come to no conclusion. Travel would take weeks and weeks. I could be merciful and include a time-speed-up feature, but that would hardly be fun.
It may be beyond the capabilities (or interests) of anyone, but it would please me greatly.

i'd probably use the money to create a Legend of Dragoon sequel. a great game that got nothing.

Street Fighter Zero 4. No new technologies, as its the kind of thing that can be pulled off using last generation's ones. What it _would_ include is new and more sprites, akin to Street Fighter 3. Then, take a tons of playtesters before realeasing it to the public.
Would it be better. Hell yes, if nothing more than just more sprites (as CAPCOM has reused sprites for 10+ years).
I'd also like a remke of Ultima (particuarly 9), the greatest RPG series of all time.
Lastly, I'd like a new Shandalar, with updated rules and better AI. I think that it would cost more than $1M, though.
Or a new version of Shanandler. My friends and I discused this, take a page from the (DONT KILL ME FOR SAYING THIS) Yu-gi-oh gameboy games, add in a story, not as corney mind you, add some missions. And I would be a happy bug. And the best thing is with MTGO most of my cost would already be done for me.
And if they are worried about a non internet magic game conflicting with MTGO sales, jsut add in a coupon that lets you redeme it for a Sol Ring and a lotus petal on MTGO and sales will be high enough to justify it.
Three words (and a number): Mutant League Football 360. I've probably logged more hours playing Mutant League than any other game, sports or otherwise, that I've ever played. A great mix of sports and humor, it was one of the best party games I've ever owned. I think it's long overdue for a revisit...

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, the wisdom to know the difference, and a ****ing chainsaw.
A million dollars to make a video game? I'd probably just take the money from this mysterious, but ultimately foolish, investor, move to some foreign country, change my name to Nigel Smidely, an icelandic immigrant, and hoard the money.
But seriously, I'd try and make a .hack kind of thing. I've always been a big virtual reality guy, and something where you get to be in the game would be a dream come true. Plus, the implications of it would be amazing, the number of different games, as well as things you could use in real life, would be quite awesome.
I'd probably need a few more million to get it done though.
Honestly, the game that makes the most money is a well developed game on a popular realm. The D&D games, Baldurs gate and icewind dale make a fortune due to their having amazing developers and a well throught out story.
I'd make the next gen of Infinity engine games. They made a fortune the first time, and i loved them

I never have, in fact. Is it similar to what I've described, or more abstract?
It's actually a really fun sailing game for the SNES: you run around making money as an explorer, cartographer, merchant, naval officer, or pirate. It's really fun and detailed, but naval travel is -amusingly- slow, eespecially when you start fiddling with some trans-atlantic routes.

i would make the sequel im amazed they havne't done yet: the sequel to the first fire emblem game for GBA. As for sacred stones, that doenst count as a sequel, as it had a completely different storyline. they left a big opening for a sequel at the end of FE1 for the GBA. I also have another idea for a fire emblem game. for all you FE fans, you know how in each story the entire world is called a continent? I would like a Fire emblem game where they bring all the continents from the old FE stories together for a world-wide story. all the heroes, like eliwood/lyn/hector, ephraim/eirika, and ike would all meet and join forces. that would be really cool.
I would make a kickass first-person shooter game that is free-roaming like The Elder Scrolls, but still has a lot of enemies to kill and weapons to gain.

I would have an RPG that had random battles, turn based battle systems, with the classic no name guy who saves the world and gets the girl. It would also have experience points after every battle and there would be a combination where you learned certain spells when you reached certain levels, and you learn certain spells depending on what weapon you use.
The game would be at least 10 discs long, with a sweet story line, cool looking monsters, amazing side quests, a ton of fun, and great characters.
A free form RPG like Oblivion (but worse graphics to add to the quality of gameplay and depth of the world) and KOTOR Combined, You play a character in this Fantasy world where your actions affect everthing. Like KOTOR it would have multiple endings, but like Oblivion, you would be able to do nearly anything...and I mean anything.
I know a game where you can sit down for dinner with a family might not be too exciting, but if that same game allowed you to slay a dragon and become a king...wouldn't you want it?
Or I'd make an actual new ww2 strategy game, really using those things called terrain. Plus you could use the finns. The best way to apporach it would be to put the player controlling part of a company where you can see each individual vehicle and/or soldier in your command.
