The long awaited sequal to Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl comes out this Friday! I personally, am very excited and hope it lives up to my expectations. So. Are you going to see it? Talk about it here! Put spoilers in spoiler tags untill a few days after it comes out please!
EDIT: This is now the official thread for Discussion on this movie.
EDIT 2: Spoilers are now allowed untaged.
I am sure I will see it at some point. But They should make sure to schedule movie releases around Magic prereleases. Cause given the choice between Pirates and CS prerelease, I have already chosen.

I am looking for Date Stamped promos from Khans of Tarkir block so I can finish my set. Check my wants if you have any.
Currently offering 2 non-foil Kolighan's Command for a Date Stamped foil!
I will see it, probably Saturday night. Tomorrow i'm going up to my GFs lake house to spend a couple of days w/ her and her family (fishing, hurrah!), so i'll miss the midnight showing and opening day.
I believe my sister is going to see it a minimum of 3 times, and will buy the DVD the day it comes out. *shrug*
EDIT: Also, unlike most movies that have come out recently, I actually have high expectations for this movie... which probably means i'm going to hate it regardless of how good it is (darn you brain, why must you torment me?)
I will probobly see it sometime next week, as I am not a huge fan. My sister is a manager at my local theater and is making all the employees dress up as pirates for the opening day. haha
I'll see it. I doubt I'll see it Friday, or Saturday for that matter, but I'll plan on catching it Sunday with some of my money. I quite liked the first one. And Davey Jones looks like Cthulu.
yup. me and my family are planning on seeing it when it comes out as a group; and since my paycheck comes in on monday, i'm planning on seeing it with a friend.

Why would anyone not see this movie? Everyone knows its going to be better than the original and its going to make a ton of money. They are filming the 3rd one as we speak and will be released next summer.
I liked the first movie for the most part, but please for the love of all things cardboard, NO MORE CRAPPY COMPUTER ANIMATION! The 'walking dead' in the first one were absolutely rediculous and almost ruined the whole movie for me. Why must directors go the cheap and easy route with computer crap when puppets, costumes look 100% more realistic! They used puppets and models in the original Star Wars triology and those turned out great. Just because computer animation is available doesn't mean that it's good! I will likely still watch the 2nd movie even if the dreaded compugraphics are in it, but here's hoping that they aren't.

From all that I've heard, the effects are jaw-dropping, especially the work put into Davy Jones.
I'm definately going to see it. I'm hoping it'll be the first big movie this summer that isn't a letdown. Though I've heard that there's an even greater focus on Sparrow, which is kind of a downer. Unless he's Edward Scissorhands, I can only take Depp's 'brilliance' in small doses. Though I suppose when the alternative is Orblando Bloom, I'll take what I can get. With any luck, the awesomeness of Bill Nighy will soothe me. That guy effin' rocks.

What little I've seen of it looks pretty impressive to me. I've read reviews from people who have seen the entire film and said that the graphics here were a step above Gollum, and that's saying something.

I got to screen it last night. You're in for a good one, guys. We've got a Midnight show tonight at the theater I work at, your local theater's probably doing the same thing.
Yeah, I'm going to see it. I second that rant about computer animation though--it's overused today, when puppets and real things would look more realistic. Still, computer animation has its place.
A step above Gollum? That's pretty hard, because Gollum looked 100% real.
Well – ILM has finally answered the call that came from New Zealand 5 years ago. This is, without a moment’s hesitation – the best CG character work I’ve seen.

Really? I never thought that about Gollum. Impressive, for sure and definately a huge achievement in visual effects, but I never considered him to look 100% real. There was always an inorganic quality to him that I can't quite put my finger on. I don't consider Gollum the upper echelon in visual effects, there's still better work out there to be done.
Binary: It's not just AiCN, a lot of reviewers are praising the Davy Jones effects. Some even extend that to the whole Dutchman crew and the other major effects pieces in the movie.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw it too! It looks quite real too. I just hope he can live up to his predesessor as a villian.

The last thing I want is someone to actually see me there in a line full of little girls with pirate shirts on.
Of course not!
It certainly isn't a film awesome enough to justify going to the cinemas to, at least for me...
I'll still rent it on DVD or something when it comes out...Otherwise I'll be waiting for Johnny Depp to make "The Rum Diaries" already.
