Haha. It seems no one wants to discuss the NFL draft, Saka. Well, let me be the first.
The Jets took a kicker in the second round. No, you didn't read that wrong. No, it's not a lie. Wtf?! Now, I know they had to replace O'Brien after he blew the game with Pitt, and I know they had another pick in the round. But seriously people, who the **** takes a kicker in the second round?
Now, if you'll excuse me, I must confront one of my neighbors about this. He works for them and he better give me a damn good reason for this pick. :tongue2:
My Packers needed defense, so we picked up a new QB and a WR or two.
Nice going, guys.
I'm a Packer fan too. Part of me is happy for getting Rodgers with the 24th pick, but part of me is going ballistic that we didn't take a corner or defensive lineman with that higher pick.
But overall, the team did address defense drafting three CB, one S, one OLB, and one DE. And they did trade down their third rounder for two fourth rounders (the S and OLB).
Picks: QB, CB, WR, S, OLB, C, CB, DE, WR, CB, OG
But compared to the Vikings free agency and two first rounders, the Pack could be in for a beating this year.

I don't think NFL teams ever learn, DO NOT waste early round picks on kickers!
Then there is Denver, wasting a third round pick on Clarett. Like they needed a fifth (or is it sixth?!?) running back on their team....
Well i'm a Detroit Fan, and i was surprised. I was thinking Derrick Johnson was going to be their first pick, after the 3 corners were gone, but the took Mike Willams. This dosen't make em made by no means, because Mike Willams is a amazing reciver but 3 recivers in 3 years :/ Also Aaron Rodgers was a surprise that he went so late, but wasent surprising that the packers took him, but taking a reciver on their 2nd pick was a bad move.
Also don't worry about the Vikings they will just blow it like they do every year.
Matt Jones is good, but i wasen't thinking top 15 for him even, I think early 20's was right, i was surprised that 2 other linebackers went befor Johnson, who was a projected top 10 pick.... Rodgers is in a great position, un like Alex smith he dosen't have to produce day 1, he can sit back and learn from Frave for a year or 2 then when hes ready he can claim the QB position... He will also have a O-line unlike smith, but smith can scramble.
It will be really intresting to see what happens this year, and who will do what... like it is every year. But there is a lot of good players in this drafts and a lot of surprises.
also where did Adrain Mcphearson go, and what round? i wanted detroit to pick him up.

New Orleans got him in round 4. As far as the Lions taking Williams, I think they have lost faith in Charles Rogers because he can't seem to stay healthy (if I remember what Chris Mortenson said on Saturday.)
Although that ticked me off, because I thought for sure the Vikings would have to trade up to get either Braylon Edwards or Mike Williams. Williams falls in their freaking lap and they take-----Troy Williamson from South Carolina.
Does anyone know anything about him other than he runs a 4.2 second 40 yd dash?
Before I forget, Oakland drafted professional kicker/drinker Sebastian Janikowski in Round One a few years ago.

Yea i was defintally thinking Mike Willams was going to Min, but i thinking they wanted someone to play deep, for the absance of Moss. So i do fell it was the right choice. Also i thought the viks has a good draft alltogether, there just going to be better next year even without moss.
McPherson was such a steal, detroit so shoulda traded up for him >.< but w/e we got Harrington, who should finally put up some numbers.
And i just think Detroit wanted the best person for the pick, and that was Mike Willams, if he woulda put up another 1,000+ yard 10+ TD season if he played last year he would have been the top prospect and top reciver, but thats ok.
And for the Rodgers thing, i don't fell they want to get rid of him, i have a felling there going to pull a Colts, and run 3 recivers for most of the year, or keep them all fresh and cycle them. It's just going to be crazy seeing Detroits offence puting up 30+ points a game.
I thought Matt Jones was going to be a late pick by the Steelers or Eagles.
Speaking of which, my Eagles had an excellent draft.
ljoss: The Jets took a kicker because he's Mike Nugent, the most accurate kicker in college in years. He's got a sure-fire range of 50+ yards (I've read 55). He's basically the next David Akers, and after the Jets missed 2 kicks last year, they can't afford that this year.
Yea, also the Jets really didnt need much help anywhere else. But i think they could have afforded to wait untill the 2nd round or so... even if hes so good, kickers normally don't get picked untill late 3rd-4th rounds.
And the Eagles had a awsome drafts, but hopefully there is no more contraversy between them and T.O. who wants "more money" like he needs it.
Also whats Matt Jones going to start as? anyone have any spectulations.
also why wasen't Jason White taken, did they forget about him? hes a pretty darn good QB and he didn't even get drafted. I was certaint he was going to be a late 4th early 5th rounder.

It was pretty much because he CHOKED in virtually every big game he ever played. He wouldn't have won that Heisman had the Kansas State game been played before the votes came in.

Yea i guess thats true, but he isn't bad at all. you just got to get rid of his nervous'ns, and maybe he will be better in the Big Games. But winning a Heismen is still winning Heisman i don't care if you chocked or not. He will still make a decent QB for someone, or at least a good back up.
I'm actually really happy with how my Vikings turned out. I hadn't heard much of Troy Williamson, but our previous first round picks have been pretty good, so I'm trusting them on this one. We didn't need another possession guy like Nate Burleson anyways. We also got a lot of pretty good utility players in the early rounds. With the ****ty drafts the Lions and Packers had, this year's Central Division should be a cakewalk for us
actually i thought the lions had a good draft, and have potential of giving the vikings a run for their money. And they only had like 4 picks. Also there offence is going to be unstopable next year, with a amazing reciving core and a decent defence. The vikings will be the top team in the central divison but lions will make the playoffs and hopefully the viks fall on their face like every other year.
YAYAY... football fans!!! I'm ecstatic with the way things turned out. As a huge longhorns fan and a Rabid Bears fan, i'm so happy that the bears picked up cedric benson!!! could benson be the next walter payton???
Note to purpled: Don't jinx your own team. That right there is asking for it.
Also, and the one that may be most important right now, don't necro three month old threads. Really this goes under a new thread as the preseason is just getting underway and the season isn't too far off. Reported.

Some good prospects this year, and it'll be interesting to see how the draft pans out. It's good stuff.

3 picks in the top 10, 4 overall in rd. 1....best backfield in the nation.
I was thinking Matt Jones would go higher he seemed like he could go top ten but he went 21 or something to Jacksonville...
I couldn't really follow the draft, I haven't seen TV in months...
